Since we're asking questions about what drinks you might have a hard time getting while gambling what about a martini??

I've become a big fan of martinis lately - with a lemon drop or a dirty martini being at the top of my list..

But I've never thought of asking for one while in Vegas - I usually stick with my tried and true margarita..

has anyone had any success in ordering and getting a tasty martini while at the slots?

    thanks!

I've gotten excellent martinis while playing video poker at Wynn. They were served in large, chilled martini glasses. I like vodka martinis, and these were made with Skyy vodka and came with three olives. Properly chilled and pretty potent. They're the best I've had while playing.

I've never ordered one, just not my thing, but I've seen people getting them in Vegas.

Just keep in mind that the quality of the vodka will depend on where you are playing - HL room vs casino floor, Bellagio or Wynn vs IP or Excalibur. If you want a better martini, I would go to one of the vp bars and chat up the bartender to possibly get better quality booze.

No problem at all. Order what you want. Quality and presentation will vary hugely between casinos. At a top casino you can specify Grey Goose or what you want (assuming vodka martini!) and get a $12-$15 cocktail, nicely presented in the correct glass type, for the price of a tip. Other places you will get the well vodka and a dumpy glass. Bellagio, Wynn and Cosmo are good places to try.

But you have to pay for those Wynn doesn't comp drinks while playing VP at the bar unless that has changed.

I have gotten good chocolate martinis and lemon drops. One of the best lemon drops was at the Elco bar now that was a surprise.

Mine wasn't at a bar. It was out on the floor in the casino, brought by a cocktail waitress. And a lovely one at that.

I have started drinking martinis in the last several years, but foo foo ones, lol. Lemon drops, Watermelon, etc. I do drink dirty martinis but prefer a foo fooey one before dinner for example.

I have ordered these at bartops the last several trips. Most of the VP bars cannot make a decent one. They are used to simple dirty martinis, of which they do great at, but ask for a foo foo one and its all together different. For a lemon drop I usually get a glass of vodka with a lemon wedge. I can still make it okay by squeezing more lemon into it, but not the same. Cosmo's they do okay. Nicer bars that are not mainly VP bars can make all different kinds well. I have never ordered one on the floor, I just can't imagine much would be left in the glass by the time it got to me, and I am a stickler about having a full martini, lol, especially when I am ordering top shelf and I get a half full drink with a sticky mess of a glass.

For example, Sullys - not good. The bar in back of Paris - great, the bar in front of Paris - not good. The VP bar by the sportbook at Mirage - not good. The restaurants at Mirage - great, lol. You wouldn't think it would be that difficult, lol, so now if I want one I only order them from bars where I know they can make a wide variety of drinks.

Since you are staying at Paris, the round bar right by check in makes a good martini and they use to and may still have a two for one special on all martinis!

NICE!! thanks for all of the info on the martinis!!

We usually stick to Paris/Caesars/P Ho for gambling, so I should be able to find a martini when I've reach my margarita limit!!

We'll mosey over to the Bellagio for dinner one night, so I'll have to make sure I play long enough there to get a martini or 2!!
