I had thought they could at least cover the 17 points the Station Casinos were giving them, they looked awful. Good grief, now I might have to take UNLV and the points when we come down for the game.

Coach Leach is going to have to do some serious thinking.

    Signed, deflated Coug
    :rolleyes2:

pretty much looked like classic mike especially first game of the season (or after a bye week or after a bowl game break as well)

dinky offense that does poorly against a better than average defense, poor special teams with a lot of WTF head scratchers, wasting time outs, really really bad defense, no running game, inability to adjust at all after the half, and stupid quirky comments that make fans of other teams come tell you how your team is now their second favorite team because mike is so funny and quirky...of course their team is going to BCS bowls, winning the conference, and has won more than 9 games consistently

the fast out of the gate and then falling apart after one mistake (the interception) was classic mike as well.......if his "come to mike" meeting on the sidelines fails than that is all he has in his pirate booty bag of card tricks and one liners...if they had managed to score that touchdown instead of the interception then it could have gone the other way....unless of course BYU had driven right back down the field and scored easily.....then it usually falls apart again for the mike team

my advice is get over the idea of mike being on the sidelines or you will probably find your team with a hugely divided fan base in a few years as the cult of mikers start attacking the actual fans of the WSU team and university VS the mike fans......that is just how it works with mike

the really bad news is if things do not pick up this year or next then it will probably already be "on" because mike has the auto 5 year contract renewal after the first two years of the contracts......so if you have two bad years this year and next your AD will be in the horrible position of either telling mike that the contract will not auto renew for another 5 years or he will have to let it renew for 5 years and then if year three is bad as well.......well here comes the divisiveness because you will either be looking at riding out 4 more years or trying one more year (year 4) and then eating three years and looking for a new coach

and if you do not let it auto renew after the first two years that is when mike and his fat little IMG agents make things really ugly as mike goes public with his displeasure and starts job shopping as well

I expected mike to lose, but not quite as badly.....well actually I expected the score to be that bad or worse, but I expected mike to score a few more points and BYU to score a lot more points, but BYU was clearly rusty as well and let a lot of points slip away

    Give Leach some time

How many of the players were recruited by Mike Leach?

Just exactly was Wazzous record last year? With that record does it imply there was talent on the team? Those are rhetorical questions BTW.

His first year at T Tech he was 7-6 and 3-5 in the Big 12. Not exactly stellar numbers. The previous year Texas Tech was 6-5.

If you can convince me that Wazzou has as much or more talent than T Tech had, then be angry at Mike Leach.

    Worse Than I Expected

....Someone.........you are a psychic, the team is awful and the fan base is splitting just like you predicted.

I'm having a hard time even watching the games, and have forgone wearing any WSU gear in public.

    Absolutely pathetic.........

I'd ask if you have any more predictions, but then again maybe I don't want to know.

Thanks for your earlier insights......any good stock tips my clairvoyant friend ?

As a WSU fan (or fan of old), what do you think of Marquess Wilson's letter saying that the coaching staff would “belittle, intimidate and humiliate us.”?

    Who's Truth ?

I don't know who to believe actually........maybe they were used to the old coach's, Paul Wulff, apporoach that they weren't ready for a "real" veteran college coach, or maybe Leach is a tyrant.

It's like politics and crime......unless you were there you never know for sure. The only facts are they are worse than they were last year, and the coach has booted several players off the team. The rest is all speculation.

My concern now is recruiting, it's hard enough to get people to the wheat fields to play football, let alone to arrive and be endlessly ragged on.

I graduated in '79, and back then we were awful but ho one really cared, it was just a fun thing to do on Saturdays and a great reason for a party. I have always subscribed to the statement from a old friend " the quality of your football team does not represent the quality of your education". Hey, at least it's something to hang your hat on, or not I suppose.

trying to remember if i got to go to two or three of the dads weekends games, know the first one in the fall of 2007 was the coldest i have ever been at a game!

saw one or two more, highlight of them all was seeing rob gronkowski light the cougs up for 4 touchdowns, and actually telling the kids that we would see that guy in the nfl soon!

funnest game was the money game for the montana state bobcats, first home game of the year in pullman, still warm out. cat had them beat, then a couple mistakes by a young bobcat qb mostly underestimating the speed of pac 10 defenders...

paul wulff can coach, but that step up for him from ewu, just like hauck, rhymes with suck, stepping up from the um griz to unlv, takes some time. the new ad at pullman wanted more money from alumni, surprise, so wound up paying leach how much more?!

so, the coaching staff there has to recruit talent with pac 12 quality speed and athleticism, and get them to come to a little town that is not even a big sky size town, but a frontier conference size town. the guys you get dropping down to wsu, especially at the skill positions, probably have a few warts that kept them from getting offers from anywhere else in the fbs universe. bad news from some of these guys should not surprise anyone.

do not know the quitting receiver at all, but think i will give the coach the benefit of the doubt on this one. just do not know how he can recruit enough quality people, with the right skills, to the palouse, to ever be successful.

apple cup, 31-28 cougs. not that there would be a firing in the first year of a coach, but otherwise that is a season saver in that part of the world.
