Here's my story: -$2k budget for 4 nights -mix of quarter to 50 cents VP, $20 BJ, and craps player -Once to twice a year in Vegas Last trip I stayed at MC and mainly played there and NYNY. NYNY has shown me some love with a couple of offers (2 nights and $25 FP for most of the time including weekends through Feb and another that I can't remember off the top of my head), and MC has given me one, but there is no way I can swing it (Monaco Suite but only for like the next 3 weeks of week days). My plans are to go in mid January and if I don't blow the entire budget I'll probably be going back in March for the NCAA tournament. I'll also be travelling with another player of similar budget (no VP). My questions: -Would it be worth it to contact a host? -If we book a joint reservation what are the chances we get an extension on the comp? (his offer was only for reduced rate) Or maybe get a better room but have to pay a little? -I am looking forward to establishing my play, albiet at a lower roller, and building from here and curious at what point, if not now, would be the time to speak to a host? Thanks!
Why not just call a host at one of the properties you mentioned. The worst that can happen is they will tell you to call MLife. Paperposter may be right in that you may get better offers from CET.If you're like me though,I have no interest in any of their Las Vegas properties.
At the $2K level CET is going to serve you better. You could try a host at MC or other MGM but you will get more bang or your buck at CET.
Hmm, I'll definitely look into Total Rewards the next go around. Am I wrong in thinking that a host really isn't used for their system, it is all pretty much online?
yes and no to your question. at your level of play in vegas you wont get or need a host.you will get free rooms and some food. ps .just a suggestion if your betting 20 a hand at bj ,just move it up to 25 a hand cant hurt.
I got ya. the $20 was just more of an average. I usually bounce between $15 and $25 a hand depending on how things are going.
some properties wont rate you on bj unless you bet a miniumum of 25 a hand thats why.i belive that rule will aply more to mgm properties than cet but always give your players card it cant hurt.
I'm a MC guy and use a host. My very strong belief is that they won't do much for you at that level. You might get some future offers if you put the play in at NYNY -- probably a weeknight room comp and a 'special rate' for weekends.
I've already got a decent offer from NYNY, IMO, for my play there last month. 2 nights comped and $25 Freeplay, the two nights just have to match up with the calendar, and there are several weekends included between now and end of Feb. That matches up with what I overheard last time I was out there. Looks like I may wind up playing more craps and VP.
If you're playing craps, they'll take your card regardless of what level you are playing. If you're at a $10 table, it's pretty easy to have a decent average bet. Even if you're at table min, if you play the pass, place the 6 and 8 for $12 each, you're over $25 per bet. With low end offers like that, best to just take the offer and not call a host. Because if you underplay the offer but don't have a host, you'll never hear anything about it (except you might not get future offers.) But when I was playing at that level, I still got future offers much like what you have now...a free room as long as you go on the right days. The other thing I advise when you're just building your history with casinos is to pick the place you want to stay next time and focus your play there. Option 2 is to spread your play to about 3 different properties, and just take the random offers all three give you and see what you get. For you, staying at NYNY, that's easy because NYNY, Monte Carlo, and Excalibur are all right there in one spot, and all give probably the easiest offers. Excalibur has the best VP at the $1 level -- 9-6 DDB. For that kind of pay table at NYNY you'll need to be at the $5 level. Also, watch NYNY because they have a really good bank of VP with full pay at $1, but they don't pay any comps. It's advertised as such.
Thanks for the heads up! Based on all the replies it looks like I'll just stick with the emailed offers and wait a bit before going the host route.
trust me f you move up to the level a play for a host the will find you ,they seem to come out of the wood works. i walked into the luxor to lax ducked into high limit room sat down and took 3 grand in cash out to play .playing 100 to 200 a hand mostly 2 spots ,within 5 minutes a host came over and handed me her card a said if you want you can have 3 nites comped when ever you want and we can always walk you into lax. took the card and thanked her
