I have tickets for Wicked on Sat 9/1 at The Smith Center.
I thought we would spend a couple hours downtown first before the show.
My question is how far is it from the Golden Nugget?
Can we walk ?It looks like 5-6 blocks but is it a safe walk?

You definitely don't want to walk from downtown to Smith Center. The Smith Center is essentially an oasis in the middle of a desolate part of Vegas. Either drive and park in the Smith Center garage or take a taxi.

If you were coming from the North Outlets, I could see you maybe walking that. If you park in the north-most lot, it wouldn't be more than a 5-10 minute walk and I assume the two roads you'd be on will be heavily trafficked by fellow theater goers. Just walk north along Grand Central Parkway and turn right once you pass the Las Vegas Design Center.

    Enjoy Wicked!

    Thanks,
We are staying at Aria and I was going to cab it to the Nugget and then walk to Smith Center.
If I head downtown early I will just get a cab at one of the hotels and ride over.

That's the way to do it.
After the Show, you may or may not have a cab waiting...they're
really hit 'n miss. Sometimes they're lined up, other times you'll wait
for 15-30min. The SMITH CENTER calls 'em...but you'll probably wait
too...you won't be alone though. I've done 4 Shows there and on
average, there's about 17 fares waiting for cabs after the Shows.

If you end up not wanting to go downtown, but want a nice meal before the show, consider Mundo at the Las Vegas Design Center.

From there, it'd be a 5-minute walk to the lobby of Reynolds Hall at Smith Center.

Mundo is always excellent and I will probably be taking my big group there before Wicked later in Sept.

I sure wish they were open later...I've wanted to eat there,
but only after the Shows at Smith and they're not available.
