A few friends of mine have recently returned from a week in Vegas staying at Mirage. They mentioned that the whole place seems a little less busy than previous summers, and that there were quite a few bars closed (didn't mention any in particular but they were on the strip). Has anyone else visited this summer and had the same impression?
Las Vegas on the whole is well on pace to break the visitor record, set in 2006 I think... but the average spend per visitor is way, way down. It's not unusual to see some bars closed during the slower days, but then things open-up on Thursday's thru Sunday. I think the properties are doing all kinda of things to save a buck, but keep the lights on.
Some observations from our recent trip. Shadow bar/lounge (Cesear's)- almost empty. Cleopatra's barge (Cesear's)- empty. The Pub (MC) dead. On the flipside Eyecandy (MB) Full Napolean's (Paris) Packed as usual....still haven't been able to get in there! Piano bar (Harrah's)Full Heart Bar (PHo)Full I guess it just depends on the night and the mood of the people! Tim
I dont thinks its any big deal really. say mirage has 25 bars and 8 of them are closed. hell , thats just business. not like all of them are closed and you have to go next door for a beer.
