IP Sportsbook?

It has been awhile since I have stepped foot inside the Imperial Palace Sportsbook. I will be staying there over the Labor Day Weekend and I am trying to figure out if this Sportsbook is adequate for my friends and I to plop down and watch opening weekend for college football all Saturday long. Does anybody have any info (drinks/tables/big TV's) on this book?

Any help/pictures is appreciated.

The book itself sucks for watching sports. There are pretty big projection screens but there are no comfortable seats. Its all race book booths. However the bar right outside the book is alright. 4-5 big TVs with comfortable leather couch type chairs.

 

The race book at the IP is old. The individual tv's are supposed to be only for horse race fans. But, the times that I have been there, there were not many race fans and the tv seats were being used by anybody who wanted them. The place never seems all that crowded. The nearby bar is handy wtih big screens.
To be honest I would go across the street to Caesar's or even Mirage. They have much better books.

 

I've spent the last couple of NFL opening days at the IP and had a good time.
Decent drink specials and the Burger Palace is right there for some cheap snacks.
However, they have now moved the poker room to the area where the TV's and stand ups are, so i'm not sure how much room there will be for watching games. I don't play poker, but I can imagine the players wouldn't take too kindly to rowdy football fans.
We will be looking for a good place the following weekend, so let us know how things are there or wherever u end up.
I love the Bellagio sports book, but never get up over there early enough for a good seat.

 

I haven't been in a few years, but everything everyone says seems to meet with my memories. It's fine for betting, sucks for watching games. The good news: You're by a lot of really nice sportsbooks. Just go outside to any of the neighboring casinos. You're on a great part of the strip.

 

I have read that it is a temporary location for the poker tables, do you know how long they will be there? I used to like going to the IP bar area to watch games because it was rarely crowded and I could ask the bartender to change the channel to a game I wanted.

 

That's why I liked IP sports bar too. It's a bit off the beaten path, especially now with no strip access and easier to get the best spots. I've sat at the bar and have had my choice of games.(1st come 1st serve)
As to the "temporary" move of the poker room, I couldn't say, though as with anything related to the Linq everything is in flux.
