From what I understand, to get these tickets you have to get to the T4T location, and get there early or stand in line for the better shows, then go over to the theater/resort to get your tickets, and if your tickets are not general admission you should run right over if you want to snag the best seats.

This seems cumbersome and can take time out of your day, which is an exchange for the lower cost of the tickets.

So I guess my point is, if I just want to walk up to a show, be guaranteed tickets before I get to LV, I should buy tickets in advance at full price.

We are going during IHeart music festival weekend so I assume it will be crowded and some shows can sell out.

Finally is there an advantage to the later shows? is the atmosphere better? are people more excited? 8:00 seems early to go to a show in Vegas, but then a 10:00 show will be 1:00 on my body clock since we are from east coast.

You got it exactly right. It is a trade off.

Some shows, however, you can get assigned seating for. No need to go to the box office at the showroom right away. They will let you know which 1s you can assign seats for.

Headliner shows and newer shows sell-out fast or are not available.

I've gotten tixs late afternoon early eve. for shows that have been around a while. Penn & Teller, Jubilee, Fantasy etc.

 

You want a guaranteed good seat with the least effort on your
part...book in advance at the rack rate before you leave home.

ALWAYS look at the seating chart, know your price range, CALL
the box office and request the SECTION, ROW, SEAT you want and
they'll be waitin' for you when you get there.

I put together years ago. Some Shows have moved but in general
there's some good seating tip there.

In re to the 2nd Show of the evening...the early Shows are the busiest
and most fun. The second performance is usually a lite house, lots of
empty seats, and the energy is way lower...DO THE EARLY SHOW.

 

Thanks Greg, glad someone spoke up on the show time, did not know if there really was a difference. We are seeing Absinthe, so the seats won't matter, but good advice anyway.

You should also look at the casino/show website to see if they have any ongoing special deals, thus making you not have to pay the full rate.

For example, if the show uses Ticketmaster you can use a coupon code and still pick your desired seat from the floorplan out of those that are available at the time (I did that when I went to see Phantom of the Opera last month).

MGM's reservation system generally assigns you to the best available seat in a given section once you've made your selection, but if you want to pick your own seats while still using an online rate, you can email their customer support to do that (I did that for Carrot Top during my last trip).

 

99% of the time 'Thadeus' I'm at the RIO. My stays are usually
Sun-Thurs but if I do need a Fri or Sat, I'll shop around for a
better rate than the RIO'S weekend ones however....lol, I'm
there on Sept.1st (a Saturday) for the Neil Diamond Show at the
MGM and then Sunday for the closing night of Phantom.
Then...back Sept. 10-14 for an update with Carrot Top, Vegas! the
Show, iCandy, and 2 nights at WICKED.
Again, in re to which Show time is better...I usually go the the early
Shows. That leaves the rest of my night for other things.
I have been to the second Shows...LOVE for example. The 'house' was
real lite. I had an upper section book for variety but they weren't even
seating folks in the upper areas. Everyone was moved into the front
and upper rear sections for better energy.
With Absinthe, I've only been to the early Show and no idea what kind
of a crowd they pull in for the later Show.
