My doggie is 14yrs.old and has lots of medical problems from old age.
She woke up feeling sick. I gave her some pain meds the vet gave me for her. She felt better after I gave her the pain med. She drank water and ate all day which was great.

About 9p.m. she looked sick again so I gave her some more pain med.
Plus she ate some more food and is now taking a nap.

My doggie just walks around a lot at times and doesn't want me picking her up at all. She growls at me and shows me her teeth. That tells me she is not feeling well at all and wants to be left alone. When she was feeling better she
gave me a kiss on my foot. That told me that she does appreciate what I am doing for her.

I plan to take her to her Vet for a check up on Monday because she could just be having a simple medical problem and not related to her old age.

I called her Vet today and asked what I can do if she should die all of a sudden. The receptionist said I could take her to their office and they would send her to the Crematory for me. I plan to have her cremated so her ashes stay with me.
I am hoping she lives longer but not at the expense of being in pain. I plan to ask her Vet on Monday if there is hope for my dog to live longer without pain. Lucy

I feel for you Lucy. The wife and I have a 14 year old four legged only child and we understand all too well how attached you can get. We also have been through the "is this old age or a temporary fixable problem" a few times with her. I have also noticed that the vets want to blame everything on old age even when it may not be. They started that years before she ever showed any real signs of age. Prayers for you and you doggie from us also.

My doggie is doing better today

Thank you all for your prayers. I do plan to take her to her Vet on Monday.
It could be something fixable. I am going to tell the Vet to be straight with me and tell me the truth about my doggie's health.

My neighbor was told by her vet to take her doggie home that there was nothing they could do for the old doggie anymore. That was honest of them.

I do notice she loses her balance a lot at times. Her legs just spread out.
I have no idea what kind of problem that is for a doggie. Lucy

It's hard watching our pets get old. It sounds like you take good care of her. I think a trip to the vet is a good idea. I hope there is something he can do for her.

    My dog is feeling better

I think Dogs are like people.... in the sense that sometimes we feel like we are going to die and then we live.lol.

MY Doggie was real sick on Sat. and Sun and I was planning to take her to the vet on Monday as an emergency but by Monday she was feeling back to
    normal again.
Monday I took her for a car ride and we walked into a Pet store to buy some things. She was fine.

A neigbor who has had dogs die of old age told me she would let me know when my doggie is ready to die by looking at her. She said if my dog doesn't want to eat or drink water anymore that is a sign.

She is eating lots of food and drinking lots of water. She is just bored with
her life presently because it is so hot that we only go out for a few minutes.

Candy, thank you for asking about my doggie. Lucy

It's so sad when a loyal pet is getting near the end of her life. Hope she will feel better. I will pray for her. Please cheer up and take care.

That is true, Lucy. Both of my dogs, which were fat and loved to eat, stopped eating the last week or so before they died and got thin before they passed away. That is a sure sign.

I'm glad your four legged friend is doing better.

My doggie was really happy today. Yeah!

She got happy because she loves to eat ice cream with the cone. I let her lick my ice cream and eat the cone. Then I gave her some fresh veggies
as a snack. She loved her snacks so much that she jumped up on the sofa to
    hang out with me.
When she feels sick she doesn't want to spend time with me or sit near me.
So it was a great time for me to see her sitting next to me and letting me
pet her little head. It made me happy too.

She loves to go for car rides so I take her when the weather is nice.
I plan to take her for another car ride soon. Lucy
