Best room selection there just depends on your personal pref. Some like to face the mtns or city others like top face in towards the atrium. I've had both and really doesn't matter to me all I ask for is a room close to the elevators.
I don't remember room safes in the rooms there.
What I do remember is the good buffet at reasonable cost, the live music in the lounge, the large casino with ample gaming options and peaceful, tranquil atrium to stroll around in during those 100 degree days/nights.
    Have fun!

That atrium is very nice. Very tranquil place to step out into away from the jingling of the slots inside. On their website there is a webcam that is set up inside the atrium.

I haven't stayed there, and would also like more info on the rooms.

My wife and I love to have a nice steak dinner at Billy Bob's when we visit Sam's.

I've stayed at Sam's Town at least a dozen times and will have no qualms doing so again, which I guess is a decent recommendation. I think the inside facing rooms cost a little more, which I've stayed in several times (when comped), but actually prefer the outside facing rooms. I like being able to see the outside world and avoid any of the Mystic Falls - Sunset Stampede noise if turning in early. They finally replaced the old cabinet and CRT for flat screen, and I'm not sure what else I can add. The room and bath are more than adequate for my needs and have always been clean and well kept. Ask again if you have any specific questions. Try it – you'll probably like it!

How do you hook up with the shuttle for downtown, and how late and often does it run? I would actually be coming from downtown, so if you know where the pick up stop is, include it.

Yep, if you know where the McD is at the rear of the park area, exit those doors, go down the steps and turn right. There is a small awning and a bench there, I think. You can pick up a printed schedule on the bus usually, and they depart right on time, so if you are a minute late, you will miss it.

You can also pick up a shuttle schedule at the front desk at Sam's Town.

Just booked Sam's town for Thanksgiving weekend. Couldn't pass up the offer. 5 nights, all food and drink comped. They must really want to keep us on site. We will do our share of traveling around though.
    1 day in Henderson
    1 day on the strip
    1 day downtown
The last day up and down Boulder.
We will be back to Sams at night, enjoy Billy Bobs and Willie/Jose and Roxys
Little out of the way but they treat you right.

This last trip I got a good look at a Sams Town room for the first time. We were staying at Caesars but some friends were at Sam's and on Saturday afternoon I was feeling really tired so they said I could go up and use the spare bed in their room and inspect the insides of my eyelids for a while. :)

The room was much nicer than I expected! It was of Flamingo/Bally's/Harrah's quality and larger than I expected. I do not recall a safe.

This was on the 8th floor facing the courtyard. The one thing that woke me up and was somewhat startling was the rumble and roar from the show area outside. Even when there is not a show, there will be an occasional rumble or roar.

The Saturday night buffet at Sam's Town was surprisingly good!

I like the views of the Atrium best. If you can get a higher floor on the north side you will get a nice view of the show. I also like the outside view on the other side of the hotel (cool to see the colors change on the Eastside Cannery). I like the pool (open late with a warm hot tub), good shuttle service, nice sports book, have a drink at the bar in the atrium (cool fresh air), some quick bites, FPDW, I like it!

    Just got back 8-10-2012

Sam's Town was a total surprise to me. :nworthy: What a neat place. Exceptional room! The beds were to die for. Room safe and large screen TV. As soon as I left for the strip, I was depressed  as I wasn't having the fun time that I was having at Sam's Town, or the Silverton on Blue Diamond road on the other side of the strip.
