Record High Temperatures in Las Vegas

and surrounding communities, not to mention Laughlin where it may reach well into the mid teens, Las Vegas proper is expected to hit between 109 and 111 degrees on Saturday, and may very well surpass the record for the day, East Las Vegas will reach slightly higher temperatures than outlying areas.

Just remember these temperatures will dehydrate you in short order if you don't hydrate yourself constantly. The human body uses gallons a day in these temperatures.

You may carry a water bottle with you into most casinos, I do it all the time, and certainly anywhere on the Strip. There are a lot of places to buy Water but Walgreen's drug store on the Strip and on Fremont Street downtown have always provided bottled water at reasonable prices. You can't have too much of a good thing when it comes to crystal clear water on a scorching hot day.

Any AM PM or 7-11 will have water, and all casinos but they charge you more than beer in some cases, and, try try to get drink service at a machine if you're ordering bottled water.

Just get some.

 

Good tip, Brother! My wife and I always try to remember to hit a market on our way up (we drive) and get a pallet (24 or 36) for like $4. It's that or buy 'em for a buck a piece (fair price if you ask me) on the bridge or $3-$4 each in the casino gift shops. You can get 'em while gambling, but they bring you the little stubby ones (what is that? 8 ounces?) and I feel stupid tipping a buck for them (yes, I still tip) when it's like 3 sips of liquid.

 

I'm feeling it here in AZ, it's 113 right now. I love it, though. I've been to Vegas all times of the year and I prefer the summers. I love being able to wear shorts at any time of the day and lounging by the pool. I was there in December 2010 a few days after they had snow on the strip. The highs didn't even get out of the 30's, and it was in the 20's at night! The only thing that made it ok was that, well, I was in Vegas.

 

Record heat for the whole country

According to the news anyway,has been really hot and humid here all summer but plenty of rain not like a lot of places.Havent used my lawn sprinklers for 3 weeks or so .If you live in LV or AZ you better like 100 plus the same as if you live in Buffalo,you better love snow.

 

Yeah, December in Vegas wasn't as good as the summer, but being able to walk around at night and not sweat is a plus as a male.

July is a little rough. I live in Chicago where the humidity is downright horrendous most of the time, so I love the dry heat in Vegas - but the sun is absolutely scalding.

Does anyone compare it to the feeling of your face being in front of a car exhaust pipe. Phew- toasty.

 

I am going to try to head out early to avoid the heat. Last trip there was so many cars over heating. I would hate to break down in the heat of the desert.

Last year at this time my daughter had a seizure in Las Vegas. I think it was the heat that caused it. She never had one before or since.

 

first stop friday afternoon for water and gatorade, then to in and out!! can't wait!

 

You can also ask any bartender for a glass of water, they give those for free.

It was 115° at my house near Phoenix, so I go to Vegas to cool off.

 

Wonderful. I arrive tomorrow night.

 

I could handle the heat while living there, but I don't think I ever saw an overnight low of 91 that is expected for Fri.

When I was there last month it was about 114 degrees or so on a couple of the days and it was hot, true, but I loved it. It is far worse here in NYC when it is 85 degrees and sticky and humid - I would take 114 dry degrees in Vegas any day of the week!!

 

Dry heat is good, but people look at me like I'm goofy when I talk about dry cold.

It really makes a difference to what the "feels like" temperature feels like in the colder months. 40 starts to feel like 25-30. When we lived there we experienced a couple of mornings in the 20s and it felt like zero back in the Midwest.

Granted, we were probably acclimated by then, but it was cold with low humidity.

But it's a dry, lung searing, shoe melting, street warping, kind of heat.

 

Man, I love that dry desert heat! I only go to Las Vegas between May and September because I like when it's at least 90's pretty much every day I'm there. And I love being able to walk the Strip and casino hop totally comfortable in shorts at night! That dry heat at night is the BEST!!!!

The super hot temps never really bother me. The only warning I would have, though, is at the pools. Several years back, I was at the Monte Carlo pool one Saturday when it was 110 degrees, and after 15 minutes, I literally felt myself cooking. I'm sure it doeswn't help that I am as pale as a ghost, but that's probably a good warning for anybody when the temps get that hot

Wonder if we will hear any more Vdara death ray stories this summer, lol

 

Just to wrap it up,

Yeah I too had a trip on the books but the extended forecast earlier in the week predicted a high of as much as 113 degrees on Saturday and that's when I'd be coming in in the afternoon heat. It has since declined to only 109 degrees, (as much as 111% in the outlying areas)...

And when you factor in the concrete and lack of a breeze in between all those tall buildings then it can seem like a heat-wave when you go outside and it's like someone opened the oven door in your face.

108 on Sunday, 106 on Monday. But that's just the range. Temperatures can vary significantly in that desert environment.

Man I love that town!

Next weekend it'll be back down to it's normal range of 99 to 103 in mid to late August, with average lows of slightly above the mid seventies.

I got home from Las Vegas today. We had some rain that just made Las Vegas muggy. I did see some people get sick from the heat. One girl was being carried to the casino. At first I thought she was drunk, but it was the heat. After she was inside I seen a firetruck come to where I had seen her last. It reminded me so much of my daughter last year. It was not until she hit the air conditioning that she went into a seizure.

I stopped at Primm for gas on my way home. I seen another lady with heat stroke.
