Are the Silver Strike machines still around? (the machines that payout the $10 .999 Silver coins) Are you guys seeing them anywhere?

I haven't seen as many around, and I like to collect the Strikes.

The 4 Queens had a few silver strike machines last May. I don't recall any other casino's with them.

From April this year they were at 4 Queens, El Cortez, Sams Town and the Mirage.

Its a shame they are a dying breed though.

    Good luck.

Would a pawn shop give you the actual price of the silver in the coin? I have several duplicates that are just collecting dust. It is fun to collect them. I wish there were more on the strip.

Depending on the age of the strike they have either .5 ozT or .6 ozT of
.999 silver. A pawn shop would give you about 75-80% of the value for them. (And if they wont, I will)

I swear Sam's Town had these a couple of weeks ago. Kind of to the left of the main entrance as you walk in, IIRC.

One note on the silver strikes is that there are very few that actually have .999 silver in the middle anymore. Most at only silver clad. The few that are actually .999 silver are found in the red plastic holders. They are colorizing some which are in the blue plastic, but those aren't necessarily actual silver..

All that I have contain .6 ounces of .999 silver. I haven't seen the new ones that you're referring to.

They have been going away from the .999 silver the last three or four years. Mostly because with higher silver prices, it cost more than 10 dollars to make the strike. The only difference in looks are that the actual silver ones will have the .999 fine silver stamped on the insert. They are still fun to collect. I really like the variety of the 4 Queens strikes, since they consistently have special ones for holidays like Halloween, St Patrick's Day. They support the silver strike program the most. They even have a silver strike slot tournament twice a year. I usually participate in the January one.

The El Cortez has silver strikes? Where is/are the machine(s) located? I stay at the El Cortez and never saw a silver strike machine there in the past few years but since I don't go all around I could have missed it.

Also, do you know where the strike machines are at the mirage? I hardly go in there so didn't know they have machines.

Confirmed that the 4queens have silver strike machines. I think they have the most, when I vacationed in January I saw at least 5 machines at the 4q.

I remember sams town having 2 strike machines.

Not sure about now but I remember seeing 2 strike machines at the palms. They may have been removed though since I haven't heard from others about it recently.

Not long ago they had machines at the Planet Ho when it was the alladin but last time I visited they weren't there anymore.

There is also a site which discusses strikes, google it and you can read up on where they are located.

I think recent strikes aren't made up of a lot of silver, there are special strikes that contain more silver but at the 4 queens those are in the red containers (compared to the strikes in clear containers).

btw, I remember there are silver strike conventions and they have strike tournaments. I was in vegas one year, some of the players were selling their strikes for $5 or $10 just to get rid of them. I picked up 5 (1 in the red container) for only $40.

The ones currently at the 4 queens that are in red capsules are .5 ozs. Looking at the two side by side, you can see that the silver insert is a little bit thinner.

Padon my ignorance, but I've seen these at the Four Queens and I've wondered... If these are "$10" silver strikes, does that mean that the casino cage will give you $10 for them?

Sure they will. It says, "Limited Edition Ten Dollar Gaming Token."

But the ones I have from the Stratosphere in 1996 are worth much more than that! :evillaugh

Yep. As long as the casino is still in existence.

We also have a $200.00 silver strike from Imperial Palace.

Traded in twenty of the $10 strikes back in early 2005 or so.

Speaking of, Mirage has a $300 Terry Fator one that you can trade 30 regulars for at the casino cage.
