I am doing a solo trip. I booked this about 8 months ago. Im some what on a budget this trip. I might cancel, but im thinking of things I can do that are cheap. Ill be at the pools during the day, but what about night?

I know about the fountains, aquarium, the TI show......but what can I do to waste a few hours? :) :) Ive never been downtown, anything to do there?

WOW! Clueless on what to do in Vegas?

Vegas is a beautiful city full of free activities at nighttime.

you can listen to music everywhere for free, the street entertainers,
Karaoke is free, piano bars are free to just walk in, etc.

Sit down at someplace eating an ice cream cone and watch the people pass you by.
Take a bus ride to different locations for just $7.00 for 24 hours.

Wear an interesting hat where people will ask you about it.

Walk around being a looky loo at all of the beautiful hotels.

Enjoy being in your room and watch the t.v. Las Vegas news and read the Las Vegas newspapers. Eat a snack while watching t.v.
When you get bored go to any open area night club and listen to the music.

What hotel are you staying at? I can tell you of more things to do depending on the location of your hotel. Lucy

Downtown is a must, especially for budget travelers. You might even want to split up your stay and stay downtown during the weekend nights. That alone should save you enough to see an expensive show on the strip, and Gordie Brown and Mike Hammer and very very cheap enjoyable shows there.

Please be more specific on days and times. Who has karaoke?

What food courts are opened late for people watching?

Location isnt an issue. I normally walk everywhere, unless im running late :) :)

I had no money for my last trip so i took the bull by the horns and sold some old junk on craigslist and ended up with over $600 spending cash.

    Plenty for myself.

Sounds like a pretty good problem to have, heh-heh. I'd still hit up Fremont at least one night. Great people-watching, free concerts nightly on multiple stages, and very inexpensive restaurants. Ya still gotta eat!:licklips:

Who here isn't on some kind of budget.

Downtown is ok, but go near nighttime so you can catch the light show.
We were downtown twice and never really stayed long enough for the light show.

    Don't forget the shops.

Walk the strip and mess with the porn slappers.

There are plenty of machine you could slow play as well.

You didn't say when you are going, but if its soon-ish and you are thinking you might go Downtown they have some kind of live performance every night (usually music).

For that you can visit the Fremont Street Experience website at www.vegasexperience.com and under Entertainment they have a calendar you can use to check your date(s) to see whats going on and at what times.

heh, i dont have a job at the momment and that is what im doing as main souce of income. Buying and selling on eBay. Ive actually done it for years but not this much. this and a little part time gig keeps me going but I just dont want to spend 100-150$ish every night heading out to a club, which is what I normally go down for :) :):)

but give me names of places for downtown, and what night if something only happens on some nights. I am lost there, never been there. If i make the trip out I would spend all night there I think. I guess I can search taking the bus there vs paying for a taxi.

There is always something happening downtown nightly. Catch the double-decker DEUCE bus in front of major casinos on the strip. Stops are clearly marked. The bus will announce when you've reached the Fremont Street Experience. Everyone else will be going there too, so just get off in front of the Walgreens and follow the crowd to the large overhead canopy. For cheap dinner, try Dupar's inside of Golden Gate or Magnolia's inside of Four Queens. The entire area is just four blocks, so there is no need to be concerned about getting lost. It's a mini version of the strip.

I'd get there around 6 or 7pm. Overhead video shows are hourly, and bands and street entertainers in between. You will not be bored.

You can also try the nightclubs and funspots at FREMONT EAST, which is one block over from where you got off the bus. An enormous neon arch will be there. Can't miss it. And anyone can show you where to get on the bus, right next to Heart Attack Grill.

Places to go at night time

Bally's hotel has a really good live band and all you have to do is buy one drink. I only drink cokes. Bally's has a food court in their basement floor.

Ihave the most fun at the NYNY from 4p.m. to 7p.m. at their Happy Hour.
Drinks are just $5. Just buy one and watch the Saxman sing and dance and
    entertain you.
For dinner at night time go to Excalibur to their food court.
Then go back to the NYNY and sit on a bench outside of the Cayote Bar
and watch the people walk by as you drink or eat a snack. Fun for free.

Planet Hollywood has the best sandwiches real cheap for $7.00.

Sams Saloon has a great Karaoke. They have great singers. Just buy one drink. I carried my own drink when I sat down. Nobody comes around to
bother you to sell you drinks.

I like to buy the $49.99 Buffet that is good for the whole day and the next morning. You will not feel poor if you buy your buffet pass that is good at
6 different hotels. Buy it at Flamingo's buffet. Use your Gold card as your pass after you pay. That is a great deal.

I am a frugal cheap skate person so I buy my sodas and orange juice and snacks for my hotel room from the drug stores and the ABC Stores.

I also pack a picnic box from home for my flight and for the hotel room.lol.

NYNY sometimes gives out free passes for their nightclub.

The Carnaval Court.... I think they still have music. Just stand outside and you can hear the music and see the people.

I like the Flamingo Hotel to stay at. They have a small food court. Lucy

carnival court at harrahs, band from 1-6, and then again 7 til ? on wednesdays and thursdays 1-6, the spazmatics look like nerds, but they can rock. 2 dollar miller high lifes.

bill's, some sort of live entertainment there in the afternoons, and 1 dollar high lifes.

dollar michelobs at casino royale, along with dollar margaritas that are probably worth that.

Carnival Court is open well beyond 11. You cannot bring outside booze inside though sadly and the drinks inside are a bit pricey from what I can recall. BUT no cover, they have a pretty large dance floor as well.

Piano Bar in Harrah's also is free and that can turn out to be one of the most entertaining things on the Strip.

Go sit at a Video Blackjack machine - slow play .25 while getting free drinks, get one last one, walk away from machine, go to Piano Bar/Carnival Court and have a great time :)

Going to places like XS are fun, but with the right group and with the right kind of money. Sometimes its unnecessary.

Oh and how can I forget, the best part of Vegas is Fat Tuesday, go into IP and get the large mug (I think its 32-36oz) because you dont need to walk around with that damn tourist yard. Get the 190 Octane with an extra shot of Everclear.

Depending on if you are getting a refill, $10-$15 to get the job done.
