I know the purists will jump me, but it's a no-pressure way to screw around with bets you might not normally make. I've played at Caesars (nice results) and at Bellagio (other results). Trying out some Don't betting without stinkeye from other players, pressing and taking down bets with abandon. I really like it as an afternoon diversion. In the evening, when feeling like a Master of the Universe, there's nothing like felt, but I think e-craps is developing a following among people who like the action but don't care for the incidentals (rude dealers, people throwing five 20s on the table in midst of hot roll, chirpies, hands, etc.) And there's still some camaraderie around the plastic dome.

I'm totally trying this out in October. It always seems as thought everyone is having fun and they are always crowded.

It's kinda fun. I can't play those for long before I get tired of it though. Hubby on the other hand loves the stuff. While on our trip last year that's where I'd usually find him if we were not together in the casino :)

My wife was a fan, as the one inside Bally's had a $3 minimum (most we found had a $5 min)... she could take a $100 bill and play for 3-4 hours on that. I dislike the 2X odds on the pass line, but did enjoy the group camaraderie that seemed to develop during longer rolls. The electronic girl voice dealer was quite annoying... "PRESS THE BUTTON!!!! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?! PRESS IT!!!"

While I respect your opinion and your like of the machine, I must admit I don't like anything about it. time is quick to get all your bets out, not large enough limits, no social enviornment and I like the feel of the die and to dice set.

No question serious players aren't going to abandon the tables for e-craps. But it's interesting to see that it's attracting people who might be more comfortable at a slot machine, and as such it might be a ``gateway'' for them to gain the expertise and confidence to approach the tables. For me, I just don't always like the vibe at the table.

    Shoot to Win.

They are everywhere now, so you know they are doing well. I am an avid craps player and I like them.

The only thing that I can find that needs improvement is an "I'm ready" button to make the game move faster. Even if you are the only one on the table, you still have to wait for the timer to count down before you roll. It's probably 30 seconds. It would be be great if it would go right away if every player had pushed the "I'm ready" button. Then one player could go really fast. Of course on a full table it would go much slower because someone wouldn't figure it out, but at least having the opportunity to do it would be cool.
You know the casino would have no problem with that option.

I think I will have to try this out next trip. I have played craps, but still am pretty raw at the game. This could help familiarize myself with the game a little more.

Do many casinos have this now?

I think they are an abomination but that's just me. I'm terrified that Vegas will go all automated one day. I know of at least two casinos outside of Vegas that are already this way with no traditional table games so it's not impossible if it catches on like slots did. The bean counters probably love them.

To each his own though. I won't touch 'em. :)

Do you think they play craps on Eternia? Maybe Skeletor owns a casino? :)

I love craps but I haven't seen or tried these auto-craps game yet. I guess Harrahs /CET properties haven't received them yet.

I will try the don't betting when I see one but I too like to set the dice so I don't think I will play long.

I think it was meant in a Bonfire of the Vanities sense.

So, are they all just 2X odds? Or can you find more generous offerings?

After playing it one time, I did not like not getting the same payoffs as the real live game when making place bets. It only paid even money on the 6&8. I never figured out what it was for the other numbers.

I never played these machines and I probably would during times when I just want to kill time.

I figure since there are no boxman, dealers, and stickman the casino could AT LEAST pay the same payoffs as the real game. With no labor expenses and a couple of these machines out on the floor the casino should make a decent profit. I noticed this is the same with the BJ machines also.

I dunno. Maybe there's a viable reason but I think it's just greed.

The table bets pay out the same as the real table game, the only place the game shorts you is odds, it only offers 2X odds (at least at the dozen or so I've seen in Vegas at CET and MGM properties).

It's NOT just you; I also consider the mutation of "real" games into machine games an abomination! Then again … nah, I'll quit before I even get started. It's an emotional thing!

I really tried to enjoy playing this earlier this year, but just couldn't get into it.

Didn't seem right not standing up and shooting the dice, and not having actual chips to place and retrieve really made it a 'sterile' experience.

    I figured it wasn't a reference to anything He-Man but I couldn't resist.

As for these machines not paying out like their supposed to, wouldn't that be illegal?

    I like them.

They would have been really beneficial when I was just starting out on craps because $1 shoot to win are at binions, strat, orleans, among other $1 and $2 games...love stretching a buck for value. BUT I am already accustomed to the "thrill" (however small) of $5 games. I have to be reconditioned to appreciate the $1 craps games....

One thing is for sure for me, I feel FAR less pained at all-out losses here than on the felt. The felt is intense lol.
