I recently booked my first trip to Vegas in 11 years. Been gambling in my back yard (the Southeast) for a long time and decided to get back in the big leagues. Not a fan of the Native American Casinos because of the lack of regulation and I'm burned out on Mississippi and The Bahamas. Once that flight was booked I am on this board constantly. Checking out pictures on the web, rechecking flight deals to see if I got the best price possible, installed a countdown clock on my PC, etc. I think I already have the hotel property map memorized. Anytime I am waiting for a report to process or a conference call to begin, here I am again reading the board. Oops, I should be working now. I still have 69 days to go. Will this obsession fade? I hope I'm not the only one who suffers from this.

You've done it now! Refueling the fire after 11 years. It is a widespread disease, we all suffer from it and the only cure is to continuously plan one Vegas trip after another. This board is great medication too

As everyone has said we all suffer from that disease. I'm going for a good stretch before and after Labor Day also and I have exactly the same problem you do. As soon as the trip was booked I'm obsessing about it even more. I think we booked a good bit earlier than we usually do so that has made it even worse. 3 Weeks and counting!

    Good for you!

I've talked about this before but I went once and didn't go back for 18 years. 15 or more trips later I'm hooked!
There's been alot of changes on the Strip over the past 6-7 years and they are still doing renovations all the time!
With you being away for the past 11 years you are going to feel like you just landed on a different planet! Have FUN!

I have 58 days to go and I am already wondering when I am going again! This forum is bookmarked and checked regularly - I have a file of Vegas notes for hotel, slots, happy hours, tipping, suggestions, lists of things to do, etc. etc. I really enjoy researching and I have discovered a new topic of conversation with everyone I meet: "Hey, have you ever been to Vegas? Where did you stay? Did you gamble?"

It really is the happiest place on earth. I remember Drew Carey describing Vegas as "everything that is right with America" in that you can gamble, smoke, drink, ET CETERA (cough cough hookers'n'blow). I concur - I love the idea of drinking while walking down the street. How very civilized. :)

My last trip was there in 2006. As you can see by my trip count, I'm not new to this either. So I have six years to catch up on in 5 days of time. Like yourself, I'm trying to get an education on what's new and what I should be looking for. I have decided to stay at the Tropicana. It was a hotel/casino I stayed at for 5 or 6 of those trips but not any one of those I stayed at lastly. They also comped three of the nights up front and gave me the last two at casino rate. I thought that was very reasonable of them considering how long ago its been since I have been there. Your trip timing seems to be close to mine. October 17th through the 22nd? If so, we could tip a few for old times sake.

Yes this site is very addictive. But not in a bad way, learning while reading.

My problem is I'm not going until spring next year

Bummer - We are just one day off - I'm Oct 12-16. I am already freaking out about the possibility of a hurricane that might present me from leaving Florida. I need to calm down. I used to stay at the Tropicana in the old days. I had good comps and the location is great - tower rooms close and you are closer the MGM casino than those staying there. Hope you have a fruitful return!

What is really funny to me was when I was in Hawaii last week -- I was fighting the urge to take my drink out onto the street with me. I was like -- whaaaaat??

I've not done the Bahama but TOTALLY agree with the MS casinos!! I've decided, I would rather pay the flight to Vegas than GIVE them my $$..

GOOD LUCK Ezzy..we'll be there about the same time!

Vacationing in LV has totally ruined me. Went on a family trip to Tenn in June and was so irritated that things closed at 7 and 9 and that drinks could not just be had freely and taken about where ever and when ever!!

I also really hated paying for my hotel room!!
