    My Trip Report

This is volume 3 of my yearly trips to Las Vegas with my boys. Last year I went with just 2 of my boys. This year there was 5 of us total. This is also my first time writing a Trip Report so here goes.

    Hotels
    7/5/12 Golden Nugget Carson Tower
    7/6/12 – 7/9/12 Flamingo Go Deluxe

We are all from Dallas so we flew out of DFW airport on the 5th. My boys DJ and Tony landed in Vegas at 10am Vegas time. My boys Dwight and Ian and myself were flying on the same plane later in the afternoon. We stopped and ate lunch at the Grand Met inside of the Grand Hyatt Hotel DFW. I had a pulled pork sandwich that hit all the right spots. After leaving the restaurant we went through security and boarded our plane at 2pm central.

On the plane, Dwight and I asked the stewardess for the price for a small bottle of Grey Goose. She said it was $7 each so Dwight and I both got one and started the trip out right. We landed and 2:50pm Vegas time and walked over to baggage claim where our limo driver was waiting. We booked a 6 passenger limo through lasvegastransportation.com. I was kind of disappointed at how my name looked on the sign that the limo driver was holding up. He scribbled my name on a blank sheet of paper with a green marker. All the other drivers were holding printed papers with their guest names on it. It just looked very unprofessional to me. We also had to put our own luggage in the limo because the driver could not lift our bags. My bag was the biggest and weighed 45 pounds. I really didn’t care about all of that I was just ready to get to downtown.

The limo was nice idea. I thought that we would get a chance to ride down the strip in the limo but our driver hopped right on the interstate to take us downtown.

When we arrived at the Nugget my boys DJ and Tony had already checked in 2 of the 3 rooms we booked. I went to check in at the front desk and only had to wait about 5 minutes. I booked a Carson tower double bed room. I was going to do the $20 trick but since my boys were already in place I just told the front desk agent to get me as close to their room as possible. She was able to get my room directly across from their conjoined room. For $49 a night the room was nice and clean. The beds were soft and the room was nice and cold.

After getting situated in the rooms we all decided to go eat dinner at the Golden Nugget Buffet. The buffet was pretty good for the most part. I was so hungry that it really didn’t matter what was put in front of me. They had a nice variety of seafood and pastas so I was good to go. The only downfall of the buffet was the name plates on each dish were wrong. The Mac and Cheese said corn and the fried chicken said mashed potatoes. I thought there was just a couple name tags in the wrong place but in the reality it was most of them.

After dinner we all went down to Freemont Street to partake in the UFC festivities. We were going to do the pub crawl but ended up at The Freemont playing craps. DJ got on a hot roll and held the dice for almost 35 mins. We all cashed in on his roll. I bought in for $50 and cashed out with $250.00 I would have played more aggressively but I was trying to show the rest of my guys how to play. After our craps session we hopped in a cab and went to the strip. We stopped at the Cosmo.

We walked around the Cosmo and did some people watching. With us all being age 25-29 we were looking to hit a club or bar for the first night. We decided to go to Bond in the Cosmo. There a nice female DJ spinning that night and played some good music. We met a group of 6 girls and hung out with them at their reserved table. I didn’t drink a lot because the prices were insane. Even though I won a little money I’m still a low roller. I didn’t want to pay $16 for a drink. After spending a couple hours at the bar we looked up and noticed that it was 3am. Tony and DJ tried to make a move of the girls we were with but struck out. So after that we decided to go back downtown.
Once we got back downtown we went to the Golden Gate to eat at Dupars. I Ordered the French Toast platter. It was pretty good but the service was horrible. After eating we all went back to our rooms and called it a night.

    Day 2

I woke up at 8am, showered up, and went downstairs to play some slots and get a cup of coffee. I put $40 into the sex in the city slot and didn’t win anything. I cashed out with $15. After my coffee I went to go check on my boys and they were still sleep. I woke them all up and told them that check out it at 11. So they all got up and packed up. I called the front desk and asked could we get a late check out. The agent said they could only give us until 12. We accepted and decided to run over to Hash House a Go Go in the Plaza for breakfast. I had the fried chicken eggs benedict. I was starting to get mad because all of my friends got their food and ate it before mine even got there. I asked to speak with the manager and she told me that my meal would be taken care of. Once my meal arrived everyone at the table was amazed with the size of the meal. It was a little too much food but very tasty.

After leaving Hash House we went back to the nugget and picked up our bags. We then went to go catch a cab to Flamingo. While waiting for our cab the doorman asked us where were we from. When we said Dallas he started bashing on the Cowboys. Me being a sports broadcasting student and a huge Cowboys fan starting talking back to him. Finally when our cab got there the doorman opened the doors for us and nobody gave him a tip. I actually had a tip ready for him but after talking about my team, he could forget about it.

We arrived at flamingo around 1pm. The line to check in was pretty long. We waited about 20 minutes before getting helped. I had my $20 sandwich ready to go. The agent that helped me was a very attractive chick from the Philippians. I made small talk with her and told her about the many times I passed the Philippians while I was serving in the US Navy. When she asked for my ID and Credit card I handed it over and when she saw the $20 she scooted it under her keyboard. At this point I knew that I was in the money. I had originally booked a FAB Deluxe double queen since I would be sharing a room with my boy Dwight this time. The agent asked me if I could do 1 bed because she wanted to upgrade me to the Go Luxury with view. I told her no and asked if there were any Neapolitan suites available. She started typing on the computer and then told me that she would not be able to upgrade me to that room for free. So she said what she will do is put me in the double queen room but with a really nice view. I accepted the offer and thanked her for trying. When we got to our room we were very happy with the view. We had an epic view of ceasars and we could also see the Bellaigo fountains. DJ, Tony, and Ian had the same kind of room with a nice view of ceasars also. They also had to get a rollaway bed added to their room $35 a night.
Once we got settled in the rooms we were ready to eat again so we went over to the food court at flamingo and grab some quick food. We then walked over to the Flamingo GO pool. Since it was so freaking hot we didn’t spend much time there at all. We all decided to go back to the room and hangout until later that night.

A week before our trip we found a deal on Living Social for the VCard. This card gave you VIP access to 50 different venues in Las Vegas that included some of Las Vegas biggest clubs, ultra lounges, strip clubs, and pool parties. The cool thing about the card was that the passes to the clubs never expire. So you can use them for you next trip also. We all bought the card and had to go pick it up at the Miracle Mile Box Office. When we got the card we decided that we would go to Haze at the Aria that night. We all went back to the hotel and got dressed for the night.

We caught a cab over to Aria and proceeded to the VIP Line. We went straight to the front of the line and had to wait for about 10 minutes before they let us in. Once we got in we had a good time. The club was really packed and the DJ didn’t play they kind of music we liked. You can tell from the pics that we like hip hop and R&B. Haze played a lot of Dubstep and Techno music. We still had a great time. There were some beautiful women there. After being at haze for an hour we decided to leave and head over to Hard Rock to use our VCard at Vanity.

Vanity was a better for us. They played a good mix of music and the women out numbered the men about 4 to 1. We partied at Vanity until they closed. After the club we all went to Lucky 7’s for their $7 steak meal. We all Sat around the table and talked about the night. It was the prefect ending to a nice club night. We didn’t get back to the hotel room until 7am due to hitting a blackjack table at Hard Rock before we left.

    Day 3
On this day we had planed on waking up early to go to the pool at flamingo but none of us woke up until around noon. We decided to walk over to the Ceasars Forum shops because my boy Dwight wanted a new shirt for the night. On the way there we stopped at Panda Express to eat. I swear Panda is my guilty pleasure. We went to H&M and after that we stopped at Fat Tuesdays and grabbed some drinks. I grabbed a yard drink that got me feeling pretty good. After walking around the mall awhile we decided to get back to the hotel so that we could get ready for the UFC148 viewing party.

We had planned on going to watch the fights Mandalay Bay. I decided to call over to ask details about their watch party and I was told that their viewing party was outside and cost $65 a person. None of my friends and I wanted to pay that much to sit outside so we decided to go over to the Palace Station viewing party. It was only $10 to get in. We got there kind of late so there was only standing room only. We really didn’t care about the standing room we just wanted to see Anderson Silva beat up on Sonnen. After watching the fight we hopped in a cab and headed back to our hotel to get ready for the club.

After going through our Vcard vouchers we decided to head to TAO for the night. My boys wanted to walk so that we could have some drinks while walking to the club. When we arrived at TAO we found out that on that night Lebron James would be making a special appearance. There were so many people waiting outside to get in. We thought that we would not make it in even with the Vcard. We took our chances and waited in the VIP line with the Hotel Guest. We waited for 20 minutes and were let in pretty quickly. I had never seen so many people in a club. We were shoulder to shoulder with everyone in the club. It took us 30 minutes of trying to maneuver through the crowd just to get to the dance floor. Once we made it to the dance floor they made the announcement that Lebron James had just arrived. People started pushing to try to get to the front to see him party in his VIP. It was insane to see guys screaming like little girls. But all in all there were some good looking ladies and DJ Vice did a great job mixing music. Lebron James only stayed for an hour, so after he left the crowd started to thin out but there was still a ton of people there. We stayed and partied until about 3AM.

When we left the club our feet were killing us. So we took a cab back to flamingo. Once we got back we stopped in at the food court in the flamingo and ate a few slices of pizza. We enjoyed watching all the working ladies reel in guys while we ate our pizza. Shortly after eating, we decided to hit the bed and go to sleep.

    Day 4

We really didn’t have plans for Sunday so we played it by ear. My boy Tony grew up in Germany so he wanted to go and eat at Hofbräuhaus. So we decided since the restaurant was across from Hard Rock, we would go to Rehab afterwards. Im not a big fan of German food so, Hofbräuhaus wasn’t that good to me. All of my boys thought the food was just ok. But we did enjoy the entertainment.

After lunch we went over to Rehab but only stayed for 30 minutes. It was extremely too hot out there. Of course there were beautiful girls but there was no where to sit since all the chairs were taken. We hopped in the pool for a lil bit and then decided to leave. For some reason we just wasn’t feeling it.

When we got back to flamingo I went to the craps table to try my luck again while my boys went to the GO pool. I bought in for $100 and lost $80 in 5 minutes. I threw my last ten bucks on a hard 6. Two rolls later out came a 7 and I was done. I went back to my hotel room and took a nap.

After my nap, the homies wanted get ready for the night. I brought a bottle of dom perignon 96 to vegas with me and we decided that we would toast it on the last night in Vegas. So we all got ready and dressed popped the bottle open and toasted to the night and the future trips ahead of us. After the toast we wanted to hit the club scene one last time. We went over to Pure at CP. It was kinda strange to not see a line in front of a club. We walked right in the door without a problem. Pure was OK I guess. While walking in there was nobody to be found but when we made it outside we found all the people. There was a good crowd outside and decent music. We stayed outside for about 45 minutes but shortly after we decided to leave. The crowd was nice but we were looking for a more party atmosphere.

After leaving Pure we hopped over to The Bank in the Bellaigo. When we got there we noticed there was a nice sized line. While we were waiting in the line we saw 3 groups of attractive women walking out of the club. I asked one of the girls why were they leaving and she told me that the music was horrible. At this point none of my boys wanted to go in so I was starting to think that this night was going to be a failure. I asked the chick which club were they going to next and she said Lavo. At this point it was already 1am on a Monday morning. So Vegas was starting to look a little deserted. While walking to Lavo I noticed that most of the girls walking the strip were working girls and most of the guys were pimps. Just 24 hours before the streets were pack full of people looking for fun. Strange how things can change in such a short time. When we got to Lavo we met with that group of girls we met outside of The Bank and just had a great time. The Music was decent and the drinks were overpriced but we didn’t care we just danced and had a good time. We left Lavo at about 3AM. It was totally dead on the strip so we walked over to Bills and ate at Victorian Café. We got the 6.99 steak and eggs special. It wasn’t much to talk about but we were hungry so we ate pretty good. While sitting at the table we talked about how much fun we had over the entire weekend. We did everything that we wanted to do. It was by far our best trip to Las Vegas.

After leaving Bills we all walked up to the craps table at flamingo and played for about 20 or 30 minutes. No one won anything but it was cool just to have us as 5 brothers having a good time for the last time in sin city.

The next day we all caught the American Airlines 12pm flight to DFW. At this point I was ready to go home and rest. But I was excited about all the things we did on this trip. Im now looking forward to our next trip and trying to figure out how to make it better. I think next year we are gonna stay at Aria or Planet Hollywood. If I can recommend anything I would recommend buying the V Card if you are a clubber. You will save hundreds of dollars by doing so.

If you made it to this point, I appreciate your time. Extra kudos to you for reading through my horrible grammar skills.

@welovevegas how are you doing? I do miss talking vegas with you. We were talking about all the people we miss working with and your name was the first one that came up.

Now about getting this bottle through security. I put it in my checked luggage. I wraped it in bubble wrap and put it inside of a small box. I was scared that it would break but it made it to Vegas!!! Thank God.

@captainron62 The go pool was nice. I loved the laid back vibe there. Beautiful people everywhere.

    Thanks for the report

You created more craps players. I know the friend that was on the 35 minute roll is now hooked, if he was not hooked before.

Please write about the next one.

BTW, when I go over Labor Day I am required to bet $100 on the Dallas Cowboys to win the Super Bowl by my maniac Cowboys drinking buddy. He will be in Denver at a soirree that I chose to not attend.
