has anyone tried the new pop up pizza at the back of the casino at the plaza yet?

even if you don`t like the gambling at the plaza you have to try the pizza if you are a pizza lover!:licklips:

we really like a slice of zaa often when we are in vegas and have tried metro pizza at ellis island, hidden pizza at cosmo, francesco`s at ti,picadilly on fremont etc etc and pop up at plaza is the best we have had hands down.

I thought Hidden was better than Pop Up. But it may be because I ate at Pop Up pretty late and the slice wasn't exactly fresh from the oven. But both are too thin for my tastes. I like 'em thick!

I tried a slice of the new place and it was pretty good, not cheap but good. It's a lot better than the pizza place they had before. Also, I prefer thin crust pizza.

that`s funny because we had the same experience with hidden pizza.

we tried it once and it was really good and the next time it was soggy and terrible. I guess places don`t want to throw food away and if you go at a slow period you may not get the freshest stuff.

I do recommend asking them to throw the slice back in the oven for a couple of minutes to crisp it up a bit. (I`m gettin` hungry!)

I ate there right after they opened, not bad at all. Not something I would go out of my way for, but if you are in the area looking for a slice, Pop Up works.

I had one of the best slices ever, very tasty. And the second time blahhhh.
It's good when the pizza is fresh out of the oven, not too old.

I am a self-proclaimed pizza snob extraordinaire, and other than Grimaldi's there is no pizza I've had in Vegas that I would eat again. That includes Metro(which was the closest before Grimaldis). I've never tried Hidden or the new one in the Plaza. So, hopefully, I have a new acceptable pizza to add to the list after next trip.

I do find it amazing that no pizza (or bagel) maker from New York has ever escaped the five boroughs.

Okay, had a slice of pop up pizza this weekend. Went in with high hopes and was once again disappointed. Dry and bland. Bad even by vegas standards.

I love this town. Always have. Moving here was a homerun. They do a lot of foods right. And trust me, I'm one picky foodie. But pizza just ain't one of them. Don't know why. Makes no sense. But that's just the way it is.

Everybody raves about Settebello in Henderson (near GVR i think). LV Weekly recently gave them props as best pizza in town. So I guess that's the next stop on my search. Will report back.

I'm also grew up in NYC and make my own pizza's at home. I am limited by a 500 degree oven and water quality. I was surprised nobody mentioned Lombardi's the oldest pizza in NY and considered one the best. I understand Grimaldi's has analyzed NYC water, and recreates the minerals etc. in their water!
For you folks that have never had tap water in NYC it is one of the best tasting in the country due to the limestone and other factors that it passes over. I enjoy Metro pizza and a microbrew while playing VP at the Ellis except the buttons start sticking from the Muzzadell!!
Its a matter of taste and there is no right or wrong. I don't like deep dish pizza because if I want lasagna, I'll eat lasagna. But millions of people love it.
By the way when I was in Florence Italy I had one of the hottest sausage pizza's in my life and my Mexican American friend also thought it was really hot, peppery hot. Lets enjoy that diversity!:nworthy:
