Dancer made his claim to fame back in the infancy of Video Poker, particularly at one casino where he and his wife did well to the tune of close to a million dollars in winnings over a relatively short time period. Google it if you want to know the details.

He's been riding that wave from then until now as the premiere Video Poker Guru on this planet to the tune of even a greater fortune selling his Video Poker Software and literature.

The casinos have long since caught on to their programing deficiencies and corrected their omissions but Mr Dancer lives on to tell the story.

You can believe what you want to but that ship sailed a long time ago.

So if you think you are on to some new thing and you will be the next million dollar winner you has better try the Mega Bucks because you're chances of breaking the bank just might be significantly higher there.

Now, I don't have an axe to grind but if you are led to ruin by the prospect of long term gain at any casino game then you just might be sadly mistaken.

I say, "Play for fun and recreation, always play within your means and never gamble more than you can afford to lose or you will be just another sucker".

I always look at it as, if your gambling system is so great, why do you need to sell it? You should be making plenty of money at the casinos!

I did google it, but to no avail. Just links to buy his book. I'm very interested though, would love to read about the glitch he exploited just for entertainment's sake. Maybe I'm not googling the correct phrase. Help or link?

i find his article funny because i used that old joke today with an Indian buddy who had told me about the Indian chick in Playboy. The other guy said it didn't look like she had any Indian in her, so I told my Indian friend he should call and ask her if she would like a little. an oldie, but a goodie!

It was on one of his radio shows as well. It was no different than something like the riviera $1000 slot rebate. It was a promo by MGM Grand that was clearly giving away way way too much back to the customers. It also helped that he ended up winning some fairly massive royal flushes within the 1-3 months of the promo. It was a bunch of freeplay I believe that was putting a game like 9/6 JoB up in the 102-103% return.

I'm not sure how a post on Jeopardy evolved into he is a hack that is famous and now sells systems and scams other players.

Whether or not you think he actually makes money gambling, he is still one of the best authorities on Video Poker in the world. Thinking that everyone knows him because of some mistake the MGM Grand made a decade or 2 ago is hilarious. :)

Now I'm not the biggest Bob Dancer fan. I do think he is very condecending to anyone that gambles for fun. He still has extensive knowledge about gambling over the past 30+ years though.

I agree 100%!! My hobby/secondary income is internet marketing and I come across so much BS that claim "make $300 a day in your underwear", or make "10,000 a month doing nothing at home" that I feel bad for the joe schmoes that believe it, and worse yet will spend their live savings on it.

If their system is so great, and it makes them so much money, there is no way in hell they will sell it to the general public for $19.99, all that does is create competition for them. Ya at one point in time there is no doubt that it made them a lot money, but things constantly change. Once their system becomes obsolete and they can non longer make money from their methods is when they write a book about it to squeeze out every last cent.

They get away with it because they actually did earn that kind of income from doing exactly what they tell you. What they forget to leave out is that so many other people are doing the exact same thing the market/method becomes so saturated there is hardly any money left to disperse.

You'll never get rich following these methods (hell you'd be lucky to earn back what you spend on their course), but it will give you the knowledge on how they made their money and hopefully give you some innovative ideas on how to make your own fortune.

P.S. Take this with a grain of salt since I'm still poor.

I have only two thoughts about Bob Dancer. I read his "Million Dollar Book" a long, long time ago. I remember him mentioning his good looks and I thought "ummm no". And if I recall correctly, it was his wife who hit the million dollar VP hand, not him. Although, he more or less takes credit for it.

Maybe... but I think the way he writes he just comes across as a smug Mr. Know-it-all-and-better-than-you who spends half of each article patting himself on the back for how great he is.

I've never used his software, but I hear its pretty good as a trainer.

I think it's a great training aide. I use it at least once a week during the "offseason" and at least an hour a day in the 2 or 3 weeks before my LV trips. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a training aid.

    Some things.

His VP trainer software shipped with a default mode which was not 'random' - it paid back more winning hands than it should. You can come up with your own theories why this would be. I have my own.

He worked with casinos to teach them how to find machines that may have been set up to pay back more than casinos may have intended. This is documented in a report he produced explaining to casinos how to squeeze out the better players. This report was available on the internet for a long time. Perhaps it still is. In any case, this is fact, not a rumour.

And he publishes books and strategies and does classes for players on how to maximize VP returns.

One can not serve two masters. I conclude that he is serving himself and has neither set of clients' best interests at heart.

Occasionally I read some of his stuff to see if he can possibly be more arrogant than the time before. I am rarely disappointed.
