The following was posted by the administrator of VPFree

"Howard Stutz, LVRJ gaming reporter, tweeted from the NGC meeting
that as of mid-November Station Casinos will no longer be managing
Aliante Station. And "Station" will be dropped from Aliante Station's
    name at that time."

More bad news for the suffering property. It's gorgeous, but I'd never spend a dime in their casino. Never have I been to a place where the slots were so tight. I played for 30 minutes and never won 5 cents back on a spin. And it was so empty, it felt like I'd broken into a closed business.

This is consistent with the bankruptcy agreement. Station Casino owners kept their ownership in the 17 other Station Casinos (Fertitta, Greenspun, et al) after all was said and done (Boyd wanted to jump in on several properties but the Station folks were able to keep all their properties post bankruptcy).

There is a usual 1-2 year grace/transition period when casinos are transfered. Treasure Island stayed on the MGM system for some time after the sale, and they still use MGM player numbers though they broke off a few years ago.

    May 25, 2011

Station Casinos Inc., the biggest U.S. gambling company in bankruptcy, won court permission to turn over its Aliante Station casino to lenders owed more than $378 million.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Gregg W. Zive, in Reno, Nevada, approved a reorganization plan for the 40-acre property, owned by Las Vegas-based Station and closely held Greenspun Corp. They will hand over the resort to creditors for less than its original $662 million cost.

In March, two people familiar with the deal told Bloomberg News that TPG Capital and Apollo Global Management LLC are among the lenders that will take over Aliante. The private-equity firms bought Aliante debt at a discount and are among the biggest holders, the people said.

“The plan for the Aliante debtors is a straightforward turnover of the Aliante property to the Aliante lenders on a consensual basis,” the company said in court papers.

So what does this mean other than a name change? Will Aliante no longer be a "Station Casino"? What happens with their boarding pass? And will they take away our favorite VP machines?

Yes, they will transition to independent status.

They will likely have a phase out transition period (similar to how other separations such as Treasure Island / Mirage) where points may be redeemed earned until a certain cutoff. TI still uses the MGM numbers for older accounts, but the comp systems are now totally separate. During the transition, you could use your MGM points at TI for certain transactions.

That can't be answered until the takeover. Palms stripped some of their FP machines after their latest sale. You'll either have to call a slot host or check with VP2 online to see if anyone reports any changes to their machine inventory.

Thankfully, other Stations Casinos still offer FPDW. Hope they keep the games and your able to go to your favorite casino. I look forward to future beat the casino trip reports, either at Alainte or at RR or GVR!

I'm going to try to book a stay in September before the change, and will report back.

    Frank,

We're booked at Aliante Station in October so I'm looking forward to hearing anything we can regarding the management of Aliante and what's going to happen with their boarding pass and comp system. When we get there in October, I plan to chat with our Host to see what she can tell us. We love Aliante but if they take away our machines (FPDW), we may have to return to GVR. RR just doesn't like us anymore. Our last host at RR told me she couldn't offer us anything. We currently spend 8 days/nights at Aliante twice a year but when I retire in 2015 (at least, that's the plan), we're hoping to spent 8 days/nights at Aliante four times a year.

Agreed, a nice property, but it takes forever to get there. Way too isolated to survive in this economic climate.

One good thing Cruiser is that Sunset brought back your FPDW quite a while ago. You could go back to your Sunset/GVR combo.

I stayed at Aliante a few months ago and enjoyed the place, but it really is isolated!

It's very nice, but out in the middle of nowhere! If you're coming back from VOF or somewhere it's a nice stop-off, but not really worth going out there from the Strip just to go out there.

I didn't think the machines were that tight! Last time out there I found a classic Lucky Lion Fish and came out waaaay ahead!

Aliante is a great place minus the fact their beds don't have boxsprings.

Like you said, it's EXTREMELY REMOTE. A good 45 mins from the strip.
