I've got a buddy that just checked into TI last night with his family. I gave him a call and he and his are lounging by the pool. They said the alarms went off this morning in the hotel but they didn't evacuate their floor. I'm glad to see nobody was hurt.

These minor emergencies should be a wake up call for all of us. Check where the exits are when you get to your rooms. I rarely do but I'll try and make a point of it next time.

Wow! Can't even imagine being in one of these places when a fire breaks out. Visions of the MGM are always in my head. Scary, man.

Brother was just telling me about his TI view yesterday and has called me every few hours since (his first trip) He never called me about this and he is a fireman.

January of 2008 and we are sitting in the 777 Brewpub at Main Street Station and a video similar to this pops up on CNN. It was a very surreal moment and nobody was reacting in the 777.

Not a poke, nudge, or even pointing at the TVs. All I could think of was MGM.

BTW, that was before the edict that only sports can be shown on any TVs in the bars at MSS. That started somewhere around ~2010.

We don't want to make the tourists depressed by watching bad news. Or words close to that was how the GM explained the policy to me.
