Does anybody have a grasp of this concept? Have you eaten here and felt comfortable when they came to your table? The whole thing puzzles me a bit. I had two come over while dining, and wasn't sure how to react, whether this was some type of show - or hustle - or just a weird novelty. Didn't know if I was supposed to tip them, either, but I've read on YELP that some of them have expected cocktails and be invited to eat with them. This is a real head-scratcher.

The used to have girls like that in the bars in the phillipines.

They wanted you to buy them ladies drinks.

you should have asked them how much their bar fine was.

I dont imagine they did a peso show did they?

I think the original idea was that they were there for people who were in town solo (maybe at a conference or some such) who wanted to eat at a "high-end" establishment, but who weren't comfortable eating at a table by themselves.
Gave them someone to talk to and not have to put up with people gawking at the "lonely guy".

If that's the case, it's certainly not much to hang a premise on.

Can you explain exactly what happens? Like, you're eating dinner and a couple of girls approach you just to chat?

Yes, individually. They just walk up to your table, introduce themselves (somewhat in a Joey Heatherton kind of character) and linger a bit. That's where the awkwardness comes from. You don't know what to do.....

We just chatted a minute or two and she left. I'm sure if we wanted her to stay longer she would have picked that up. It was a nice touch as far as I'm concerned. I felt no need for any kind of a tip.
