How would you rank the strip properties at and near the top? No problem if you do not include them all.

These are my own opinionated rankings:

    Rank 1
    Wynncore
    Mandalay Bay

    Rank 2
    Aria
    Cosmo

    Rank 3
    MGM Grand

    Rank 4
    Caesars
    Paris
    Planet Hollywood
    Bellagio
    Monte Carlo
    ....

    What's yours?

mandalay bay on the top rung?

monte carlo even included with bellagio?

    venetian/palazzo ignored?

there is so much wrong with this list from the onset, i suggest that the op just delete this list, make a few more trips to las vegas, then try again. sorry, this sounds meaner than it is meant, but this list is just so random, incomplete, and jumbled that there just needs to be a do over, and i can only attribute it to a real lack of knowledge or history of the strip.

mirage is not even on there, not that it is the top, but if mgm and monte carlo are listed...?

The idea of the thread is to make your own list.

This is mine. It's my opinion. VP is not on my radar period. Neither is Mirage. Bellagio is just good enough to make the list. Opinion.

I spend my time exploring the ins and outs of Vegas, and I have experienced every property on the strip multiple times. Just keep in mind that this is *not* about established rankings but about what's popular *to me* (or to you) of the high-end and mid-tier props. This is not about "getting it right" but about expressing what is right for you.

    Mandalay Bay
    MGM Grand
    Venetian/Palazzo

Tier 1: Bellagio, Aria, Pallazo, WYNCORE, Signature
Tier 1.5: THEHotel, Mandalay, Paris, Cosmo
Tier 2: MGM Grand, Caesars, Mirage, Luxor, NYNY
Tier 3: MC, Tropicana, Stratosphere , Downtown
    Tier 4: Ballys, Harrahs, Flamingo
    Tier 5: IP, Bills, Excal

I listed the 1.5 only because I feel they are that close to the 1 ranked propertys they didnt deserve a full point drop in anyway and THEHotel is only there because the bastards changed the toiletries.

I would be much closer to this list. (V/P would be much lower because of how they treat gamblers though)

Fancy shmancy mucho dough props like Wynn, Bellagio, Paris, Venetian, Caesar's, etc. arent a good value for me. Yes, they are top tier, but what's the point?

A bed is a bed; is all I need. I could stay at Excalibur, Luxor, Riviera, Harrah's, Trop for 1/2 or even 1/3 the price. And I do prefer less crowds, so down the strip is fine with me. I might consider staying at off-strip or even Downtown next time if price is low enough.

In fact, Excalibur's buffet was the best I had in Vegas.

    apology

i am sorry, sco. that was very poorly written on my part, and it comes across as an attack, and i was wrong.

i have been to las vegas, i am guessing, over 50 times over the last 29 years. last year 5 times, this year at least 4. however, in all those trips, have stayed at planet hollywood once, and that is the only place on your list where i have stayed in a room. have toured a room in wynn, thanks dond for the tour and drink at that meet. also have stayed at venetian, i think 3 times, back when they were passing out the free rooms stayed in the venezia tower once and the other rooms looking over the pool and at the palazzo as it was being built. i am getting free rooms at harrahs, rio, palms, and some places downtown currently, so do not spend to stay in the better places, though i did spring for rooms at the ti for my children and us when we all got to be in las vegas together in early june.

so, my perceived ranking of these higher end places are not based on the rooms very much, on spas not at all, and much more on restaurants, the casino atmosphere, the shows in the theatres i have seen at most of the places, and the overall vibe of the places, created by features such as the water show at bellagio, the forum shops, etc.

so, to help me understand your personal opinion list, what puts mandalay bay so high on your list?
which of the hotels on your list have you seen a room in?
what puts monte carlo so high on your list?
what drove mirage and venetian off your list?

Given how personal tastes & experiences can influence one's opinion of any single property compared to another property that is otherwise truly of the same class - I think I'm going to go with tiers rather than try & rank them each individually [and alphabetical in each tier]:

    Top Tier/5-star:

    Aria [Sky Suites only]
    Four Seasons
    Mandarin Oriental
    Skylofts/Mansion @ MGM
    Wynn/Encore [tower suites only]

^IMO these are the only game in town when it comes to a true "5 star" experience - and the service commensurate with it - at least when compared to what really constitutes a "5 star" hotel experience everywhere else in the world.

    Upper Tier/4.5-star:

    Aria
    Bellagio
    THEhotel
    Venetian/Palazzo
    Wynn/Encore

^IMO these properties [or at least the "regular" hotel components of places like Aria & Wynncore] call themselves "5-star", but they're really too large to offer a truly "5-star" experience compared to what you'd get in any other city. They try, but they really aren't 5-star - Maybe if you're a "High Roller", you'll get 5-star service, but even then, at Aria & Wynn at least, if you're a true "high roller" you'll be bumped up to the Sky/tower suites anyway.

Honorable Mention: M Resort, Red Rocks, Trump

    Lower Upper Tier/4-star:

    Caesars Palace
    Cosmopolitan
    Mandalay Bay

^I know a lot of people consider Cosmo a "5-star" property, but everything I've seen & heard tells me there's no way it's really competing on the same level as Aria, Bellagio & Wynn - having suites with terraces alone does not make a hotel a 5-star property, sorry. Likewise, Caesars Palace considers itself top-tier, and maybe some of the newer towers would be on their own, but the property overall definitely isn't, and service is ok at best unless you're a VIP.

Honorable Mention: Mirage is on the bubble here for me - it used to be solidly in this class, but it seems to me MGM is making a concerted effort to knock it down to a mid-range property, but for now it's still just barely hanging on to it's roots as a luxury property.

    Upper-Middle Tier/3.5-star:

    Golden Nugget
    MGM
    Monte Carlo
    Paris
    Planet Hollywood

Everywhere else in town that I can think of is 3-star at best.

Appearance, comfort, ambiance, things to do, general overall feeling...

Rooms are not my criteria because based off looks alone, most Vegas rooms are not all that impressive to me. Comfy? Yes. Spacious? Yes. Gadgets? sure. Beautiful? Few and far between. And beautiful (for the property itself) is one of the biggest considerations for a property for me....and then how it makes me feel. Only stayed at MB out of all of them, and their rooms are not super beautiful imo...but their property is. Only truly care to stay in Wynncore of all of them. I like beautiful, lush surroundings. Visited every one of them multiple times to play, watch shows, eat...which is enough for me.

    Monte Carlo is OK.

Have not gone into VP in a year plus for their previous treatment of players. Mirage is beautiful on the outside and in the atrium but the casino hits me as too much of a dud to even think about it. Besides almost everyone I talk to over there has basically been rude. Bellagio is lux and elegant but...just meh.

    MGM new rooms look pretty..

I'm only going to list places I've stayed...and like Jilly, I'm going to differentiate when there are separate hotels within the hotel that I've stayed:

Top Tier - (places I look forward to staying)
    Wynn/Encore Tower Suites
    Wynn/Encore
    Aria Sky Suites
    Bellagio

Upper Tier - (places I enjoy staying)
    THE Hotel
    Aria
    Palazzo
    Caesars

Middle Tier - (places I won't turn down if other options fall through)
    Paris
    Planet Hollywood
    Venetian
    MGM
    Mirage
    NYNY
    Mandalay Bay
    Treasure Island
    Rio
    Palms

Bottom Tier - (places I avoid staying)
    Ballys
    Flamingo
    Harrahs
    Monte Carlo
    Casino Royale
    Luxor
    LVH
    Stratosphere
