When in Vegas this coming december we are going to see the premiere of The Hobbit.

Since we have no moviegoing experience from Vegas we wanna know which theater is the place to go. Any advice is highly appreciated :)

We also wonder how and where we can pre-order tickets, as this is the premiere day.

We will be seeing it at South Point, most likely in XD 3D. Maybe we'll run into you. First show opening day. Second choice would be IMAX 3D at the Palms. Both places have online ticketing through their casino websites, but probably won't go on sale until 3 weeks or so beforehand.

Currently scheduled to open Friday Dec 14th, but these big-title releases usually pull a last-minute early or midnight opening, so it could be Wed the 12th or Thursday the 13th at midnight.

For convenience, some other options may be the theatres just above MGM - anyone know what the name of that complex is?

Also, Orleans has movie theaters also I believe. You may be able to get a shuttle from Bills over to Orleans if you go early enough (or are doing an early showing) and then cab it back to Flamingo.

We are renting a car that day, so transportation is no probs. Neither is some distance.

The thing we are looking for is great seats, a nice consession and the best possible overall theater experience.

There's another current thread on this movie theater topic (search, upper right menu bar) I think it's Regal at Showcase mall. Gets very poor reviews.
