(sorry tried searching the forum for this one- lots of info on Flamingo pool, not so much Ballys on this topic)

How is the security to enter the pool area? Wife and I usually throw a few cold ones (ahem, beers) in her beach/pool bag.

Also we usually try to grab a pair of lounges away from the crowd as we enjoy a smoke or two and try not to bother too many people with it. Looks like from google maps, there is plenty of room to pick up a chair and move it to a desired location. Is this an accurate observation? (and I know it's Vegas, and most of the casinos are full of smoke, but we try to be considerate).

What security? Spent the past 2 trips at Ballys and entered the pool without question from anyone, although we did witness the workers asking a group of younger people their room keys. They place all the towels you will need on the counter at the entrance. We do take a small cooler in with us with water and other cold beverages.
The only thing we noticed was that they do not want glass containers anywhere in the pool area and they did state if you are renting a cabana that no outside alcohol permitted. As for loungers it all depends, during the weekday no problems on the weekend there maybe a problem if they are expecting larger crowds. My suggestion for an area, as you enter the pool go to the right and head towards the grassy area that area has shade if needed and is away from the speakers if they have a DJ.

The three kids folding towels did not even bother to look up our way when we entered the pool. They were chatting with each other and didnt even look at us any of the four days. This was in April.

So what gives? Why so lax unlike PH or Flamingo pools? Not that I'll be complaining once I get my preferred spot in the sun with an ice cold cerveza that I didnt pay 6 dollars for. :D

The biggest reason for the lax attitude is that Ballys pool is not known as the "in place" to be for the under 30 year old crowd like PH and Flamingo and really most other pools in Las Vegas. With Ballys you will have music and even a DJ on the weekend days but overall your looking at an older crowd that is there to enjoy their stay with little to no hard core partying.

In no ways is the crowd prude-ish? My wife prefers to wear smaller cut Brazilian style bikinis... Me, sometimes a shorter bum cut pair of trunks. We wouldn't get scoffed at or given weird looks would we? That's usually why I'd rather pick up some lounges and move them away from the flow of traffic. Unless its welcome haha.

I wouldn't expect many in Vegas to be particularly prudish.

I'd just expect fewer people, less of a party atmosphere, and more people relaxing, and ignoring you.

Absolutely right, people really wouldnt care what your wearing. Just dont expect the "party" atmosphere of the other pools in Vegas. As for where you choose to sit the pool area is quite large with plenty of loungers, food and drink service if needed.

I guess you guys are correct. People really don't seem to care, especially in Vegas, where most things go! Nothing like getting some sun on my girls buns!

Does the pool area have any mid/late afternoon spots where the sun doesnt hit anymore? I know the pool area is in the back of the property... I'm guessing that the towers eventually cast a shadow somewhere back there.

i definitely agree with what everyone is saying. we were just there in june, and the piercing convention was in town and staying at bally's. most of those women were wearing itty bitty bikinis (to show off the tattoos and multiple piercings i imagine). no one looked at them funny. i saw a guy in a speedo and an older woman in a bikini (older meaning at least 70). to each his own is what i say. also lots of people moved loungers away from the general area (especially if they wanted shade). the towel desk didn't even take a second glance at my bag, so you shouldn't have a problem bringing in drinks. i think you and your wife will be fine. have a blast!!!

No one at the desk asked for room keys or searched my wife's bag! They just handed us our towels and sent us on our merry way..lol!

Anyone know if CET still has it where if you are staying at their hotels you can enter the more than your own pool. More specifically if I am staying at Planet Hollywood can I go to the Ballys Pool. For some reason I have always liked the Ballys Pool, but haven't stayed there for awhile so wouldn't mind checking it out. Still have a Caesars key from last month, so will probably hit their pool too, cause the one at PH sucks!!!

Couldn't agree more. The PHo pool absolutely sucks! One of the worst in Vegas
