    My Trip Report

I just want to share this, even though it's been a while.

Hubby and I was originally planning on going to Vegas sometime during spring 2011 to get married. But then I got cold feet about that part, and wanted the whole big wedding thing instead. So we decided to make the trip more like a late honeymoon, and went 4 months after the wedding.
So, here it goes. Excuse my maybe not so perfect english:shy:
Part one: Getting there + the first full day.

Our flight with Delta/KLM was scheduled to leave Oslo Airport about 6:30 am, local time, which meant we had to leave home at 2:30. The trip to the airport, check-in and the first leg of the trip was problem-free. We arrived in Amsterdam with plenty of time to find the gate that the next plane was leaving from. Long flight, landed in Minneapolis about an hour late and now time was short. Made it through immigration and customs, and had to rush to the gate. Luckily we made it. About 5:30 pm Vegas time we finally arrived at Mccarran.

Waited by the baggage claim belt for a lot longer than what's normal, until we realized ours wasn't coming. Went into the Delta office where the nice lady could tell us it was on the next plane and we could have it delivered to the hotel in some hours. She gave us some toiletries and we were on our way. Got in a cab, went to Excalibur and got settled. The night was still young, so I decided to try to find some clothes I could change into as I wasn't feeling so fresh, as spending a whole day traveling doesn't exactly do wonders in the whole freshness department.
I really just wanted to stay in the room. But hell no! Been looking forward to going for ages, no way this was going to steel my thunder!
Ran around the hotel property, bought a deodorant (the one provided by Delta was a bit too manly for me, lol) and some make-up, but no luck in finding OK clothes. Played some slots, had some food and went to bed.

The next morning, we woke up really early. Bought some breakfast and went to the front desk to pick up our baggage. Back up to the room to eat, shower and relax some, before we picked up our rental car, a pretty Buick LaCrosse. We started at the south outlet mall, before we went to k-mart, and then we headed out to Red Rock canyon and did the scenic drive thing there. On the way back we stopped by walmart and did some serious shopping there. We also found the tattoo place I had decided on getting my new tattoo at, so I got to make an appointment there. Back to Excalibur and spent a couple of hours at the casino before bedtime.

Part two – Shows and stuff...

Now it was friday, and there was two things planned: Spa treatment at the Excalibur, and Steel Panther gig at HOB. Played some slots before the spa appointment. The treatment was a birthday gift from hubby, and consisted of swedish massage, facial and manicure. Very nice, too bad the manicure was messed up after only 5 minutes, due to me being clumsy. Oh well.

After this, we decided to go over to the MGM Grand to have a look there. Decided to have lunch in the food court there. Little did we know we had to walk for ages to get there. Found it eventually, ate and went back to the casino area to play some more slots. Hubby had no luck at all there, while I won somewhere between $100 and 200 on the Zeus III slot, thanks to a whole bunch of free spins. Biggest win so far.

Hubby got bored with his lack of luck, so we decided to move on. Played some games at Gameworks, went to the coke store and did the tastes of the world thing (yuck! Especially that italian one) and the m&m store. Then we walked back through NYNY and stopped by Coyote ugly to get one of those huge frozen coctails. Cowboy boot, awesome!
Went back to the room, and got ready and went over to MB. Played some slots again before the gig, not much luck. Concert was fun, but we left before it was done, as honestly, the HOB was kinda disappointing as a venue in our opinion.

Headed over to the Luxor, had to try our luck on the slots there as well. Much better. I tried the kinda oversized (not the really huge one, but the one that's just a little bigger than normal, anyone know its name?) reel slot machine, won $439 and was super happy. Called it a night after that.

Saturday we had tickets to Greg London's show at then Hilton. Didn't do much during the day, other than trying the buffet at the Excalibur, and spending time in the casino. After the show we wanted to see the Bellagio fountains so we did. Twice. Then it was casino time at MGM Grand again, before getting some sleep.

    Part 3 – "Dude, I'm 22"

Sunday, we first went to the Venetian, walked around there for a couple of hours before my feet screamed «Stooooooop!» and we went back to our hotel room. Later we had planned to go downtown and experience that. That was OK after relaxing for a while, so we made sure we got there in time to have dinner, take our picture with a whole lot of $$$ and see the Kiss show on the screen. Had a lot of fun there, and then went back to play some more at the Excalibur casino. Had a few drinks, so I was kinda buzzed. Some guy at the slot machine next to one I was playing wanted to help me when my machine wouldn't accept my bill, so he put on $1 for me, and then asked me if I wanted to party in his room. Nice. I politely declined and walked away. I wanted to find hubby, lol.
After playing for a few hours, I went to get some food at McD's before bed. That was also an interesting thing. «Shouldn't you be at home watching nickelodeon or something?». Question from the guy who took my order. «Dude, I'm 22.» Lol.

The start of monday was kinda chaotic. We were gonna rent a car, but when we came to the rental agency there was some trouble with the bank account and we had to get that fixed. When it was fixed, we couldnt use the same visa card again, and we couldn't use mine because the name didn't match the one on hubbys drivers license. So we were told to go over to the Luxor and make it work there. No problem, other than that we had to have breakfast, and I had an appointment at the tattoo shop not very long after. It all worked out fine, I got my tattoo, and then we went shopping.

Tuesday. Sad day. Time to go home... Said goodbye to the casino, went to the airport, and that's it.

Thanks for writing your trip report; I found it interesting and informative. Sounds like you were able to visit quite a bit of the Strip and Downtown Fremont Street.

That was kind of funny-but strange- when the "helpful guy" put the dollar in your slot machine and then invited you to "come to his room and party."

Thanks for posting, it was fun to read of someone's very first trip to Vegas, and all the way from Norway! There is at least one other poster on here from Norway, but can't remember the young fellow's board name. Yeah, that "helpful guy" wanted a lot for his dollar, didn't he?

I guess I’m going to have to try a different approach…I always figured “you wanna go up to my room and party?” was golden. Damn!

Yep…certainly better than the average American (though we represent the ‘above average’ portion of the population here at VMB:rolleyes2:).

Good report. It is always fun to read the opinions of first timers and especially ones from so far away.
