Can you buy and play two separate values of chips per spin? Usually I see the player declare just one value on his buy in. If you are going to play certain numbers heavily all the time, and then some random but less expensive bets, it seems like a logical thing to want to do.

I usually play 100+ colour chips at a dollar, plus cash chips as well. Never played two colours at different value because there is no need, just use cash.

I thought playing with cash chips wasn't allowed. What happens if three or four people are placing bets with the same cash chips on the same and different numbers? Then they all claim it's their money on the winner? Or three of the four chips are theirs? You would be slowing the game down because every spin would need to be reviewed by security.

They will allow regular chips on the outside from multiple people. I'm guessing with the first dispute, they would require everyone to get chips.

They seem to allow one person using regular chips inside. I've been on many tables where I'm betting dollars and someone else is using red/green inside. There is no confusion because they were the only one doing it.

Yes, usually if you are the only/first person playing, they will let you use "real" chips. I can't remember the last time I didn't play with "real" chips in HL.

    Pit Critter sez:

You only get one color per person, and there is only 1 person playing "value" inside, to eliminate disputes. Having said that, 1 person can play $1 chips, then 1 player playing $5 chips...etc. Roulette is a VERY easy game to cheat on, so the chips are protected.

The outside bets are like the "Field" on craps. The dealer just pays them, and you are on your own. Casino only tracks the inside stuff.

I frequently play with real chips on the outside on the main floor ($25-1000). I've only had one issue over the years.

I was playing with 'real' chips for a while at a table. While I was socializing between spins, someone walked up and put a 'real' chip bet on the outside before I could. When I went to place my bet, the dealer wouldn't allow me without changing for roulette chips since someone beat me to it on that spin. Needless to say, the dealer was unable to change my chips quickly enough and I missed out on the spin (which would have been a winner). I colored up and left after that.

you'll often see in a HL room where everyone is playing inside with real chips, but one guy is black, one guy is purple, one guy is yellow, etc.
