Saw one of the Goggle street view cars, the kind with the 360 degree cameras mounted on the roof, the other day and was curious how often they update. The area they were doing already had a street view. Googled street view and they claim they are updated every year. That's pretty impressive considering the amount of driving involved and the area covered. We're in a rural area surrounded by farm fields, but there is a street view on Google. I can't imagine that is updated once a year, but who knows? They have the money!
A Google Street View car drove by my wife and I when we were on the Road to Hana on Maui. I told my wife to wave. She had no clue what she was waving at. Last I checked, they had still not uploaded any Street View for that area. And that was September 2009!
Different areas get updated with different frequencies. My street was recently updated after 4 years without an update.
Wow - just checked my block and it was certainly updated no too long ago. Previously the pic had been taken before I moved in 4 yrs ago. Interesting.
