For the last at least 10 years I've been staying exclusively at Caesars/Harrah's properties in Vegas. In fact, I recently had Planet Hollywood booked again (my personal favorite) but cancelled when I was offered free rooms at the Venetian.

I've only gambled in the casino - never seen their rooms (except online) and never ate at any of the restaurants.

Any must-do, must-see advice? Any suggestions at all? My son is turning 21 and we have a Bella Suite. What reasonable room upgrade should I ask for if I try to $20 tip trick?

Unless you like multiple elevator rides and a long walk don't let them put you in the Venezia tower.
For a quick bite the Bella Panni place makes a great sandwich.
Breakfast at Bouchon, although a little pricey is awesome.
If the Peter Munroy band is playing check them out. They rock! They use to be at the La Scena bar but I think they moved over to the Palazzo.
Phantom is there until September. It's worth seeing.

For sure, a nice step up in room quality, assuming you had regular rooms and not suites at CET.

Players club not the greatest. Overall place is cool with shops, restaurants, etc.

Coming from about 40 stays there (stays, not days): What SoCalDude said about the Venezia tower. Avoid it at all costs. You will spend 2 hours a day walking to-from your room between the multiple elevator rides.
Sin City brewing on the second floor by the elevators is good for a quick beer. I don't believe in the $20 dollar trick, so best of luck. Walking to the Palazzo from the 1st floor will save tons of time vs. the mall. My favorite steakhouse in Vegas, Carnevino, is in the Palazzo. Hmmm, that's about it for now.

I say all this with the caveat that I may not be the best person to answer because with all my trips I skip a lot of things that others who haven't been as much like to see (such as sitting in the mall and watching the performers or the gondolas)

Don't expect too much from Grazie. They will stab you in the back, I was SO glad to get out of there. It took my one PAID trip back to NYNY to get my comps back for a slot/players club that appreciated my business. Oh, I had 2 nights comped from NYNY, have to pay for the third. I stopped going to other casinos, so my comps ran out. So after V/P cut me off, I had to pay for my 3rd night at NYNY. I have many negative things to say about the owner of V/P, I'll just take my business to a place that deserves it.

if you want to get a quick bite the Venetian has an excellent food court..

its a bit hidden though .

walk through the shops and look for a pastry vendor. when you see it the food court is directly across from it.

you cant see the food court because its sorta blocked by the pastry place.

Venetian's gaming rules and comps are lackluster (you can find better comps and rules at the Mirage and at Wynncore and I'd suspect TI as well).

    That said, it has Bouchon.

And Bouchon is amazing. Their onion soup and duck leg confit? YES! YES! MORE! OH MY GOD YES!!!

Grazie isn't good but you should join and get a card anyway; it tracks your total spend.

The restaurants are definitely the best thing V/P has going for it - so many good places under "one" roof - Carnevino, Cut, B&B, Valentino, Bouchon, Morel's, Etc. - also, it's a great location if you or whoever you're travelling with love to shop [like my wife :evillaugh] - she loves the shops at the Palazzo & in the Grand Canal, plus you're also in easy walking distance to Wynn esplanade & Fashion Show Mall too.

Bouchon for brunch, hands down! Lots of great food between V & P. Had great meals at Morels, Delmonico, Tao, and Grand Lux is a great "coffee shop"

Blue Man Group is a really fun show! Your son could possibly enjoy that (I'm in my 20's)

The rooms are wonderful and large. Never had a complaint about them. Not sure you need to upgrade, because it already is a suite... I'm looking at the $20 thread looks like a lot of people got upgraded to a view, or upgraded to the Palazzo (it's really the same, but it's just newer).. nothing too big.

I'd say just take time to explore the compound, because it's MASSIVE.

Wasn't there some buzz last year about Grazie offering free rooms upfront and then denying them upon arrival?

There were some limited instances of that. I am thinking they have learned their lesson and that will not happen again.

They did not do that to us, but the fact that they did leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Also, their Grazie club and comps are very tight compared to MGM or CET. They also care more about room revenue than bringing in gamblers. Some of us have written them off.

I agree with others about the Venezia tower, I was uncomfortable walking over there alone at night, and the rooms seemed to be Venetian on a budget. Grand Lux Cafe is outstanding, but go to the one in the Palazzo, the lines aren't as long in peak times. Agree with TheNuke about the food court, it's not your average offerings - I'd go in there every night for a piece of outstanding pizza when I stayed there.

I like the V/P, except for the comp fiasco recently. As mentioned, the restaurants are abundant and very good quality. The rooms are outstanding and they have all the latest and greatest slot machines to try.

I really don't have too much to add but I want to support some things already said here.

Avoid Venezia Tower. I prefer Palazzo to Venetian for convenience and ambiance.

I love the Bella Suite and haven't felt the need to upgrade.

Yes to Grand Luxe in the Palazzo for a decent meal with no frills.

Check for lunch specials when you get there. I found several places throughout the resort with Prix Fixe lunches in the $20ish price range.

    Yes Yes to Bouchon.

For the last year and a half or so I have been getting very fair offers from Venetian for my play and they have been very consistent (much, much better than schizophrenic MLife).

My ideal stay in Vegas is split between a resort room at PHo and the Palazzo. Other than nothing to compare to Earl of Sandwich, you should really enjoy it!
