CET Hypothetical

I have never stayed in a CET property, most of my play is with MGM. That being said I have a growing interest in giving Planet Hollywood a try (dunno y) I have a week LNG trip already planned out later this year. my thought was to drop into planet Hollywood one night and give them a fair amount of action ( maybe $500 or so) and wait for some offers. what can I expect from CET with 1 day of play in that Amount?

also let's say I never stick my card in another machine the entire trip at a CET property but do spend a few days playing poker in their poker rooms. is the fact they know I was in the building but not gambling there beyond poker going to hurt me?

 

The best situation would be comped rooms for weekdays and discounted for weekends, but I'm guessing discounted for all days. I can get comped nights at most lower end CET properties. PH would be ~100/day weekdays, and 150/weekend.

It might be slightly different if you were to spend all of that in 30 minutes in high dollar slots. That would depend a lot on if you have any history with CET though.

 

If I'm not mistaken, they require you to show your Total Rewards card even when you play poker. So you are "on their radar" when you are playing poker as well as earning points. So that could work against you.

 

With a budget of $500 a day, it's not as much as you think. I say you should be fine playing poker. Don't limit the fun or type of games you play just to chase comps.

Your slots will help you get rooms, that should suffice I think.

It won't hurt you as much as you think.

 

A couple of thoughts:

1) The $500 depends if you are talking about playing it over and over again and cycling it through (slots or tables or whatever you are playing). If you were talking about just running $500 through a slot machine once and then leaving thats not much.

2) The idea of concentrating your play at a CET property - the Total Rewards program doesn't work that way.
That would work for MLife properties or at any of the independents. But the way Total Rewards works is they look at your play as a whole and then determine what level of offers you qualify for... and then send you offers from the appropriate properties to your level.
So even if you only set foot in Planet Hollywood if your play was enough to get low level offers you won't get low level offers Planet Hollywood... instead you will get offers from their low level hotels, like Harrah's, Imperial Palace and Flamingo.

 

What game? How long are you willing to play if the $500 holds up?

If you're worried about poker, you dont have to give your players card when you play it. Playing poker could hurt your ADT if its all you do, but that depends again on the first question.

 

To play poker at a CET casino, you must have a players card? Why?

If this is true, yes, it will figure into your adt.

Don't chase comps, it'll cost you in the long run.

If you're a casual player, get a card and see what happens.

CET is good for me but YMMV.

Someone posted PH has a poker tourney, I have to find out which days, $65 paying out $2000, $1000 to winner.

We'll be there tomorrow so if my son does this, I'll post about it. We'll be busy through Sun so the soonest he'll be able to play is Mon.

 

Are you saying that if you do not have a card, they will not let you play? At all?

 

^ Doesn't make sense to me. Im sure they'll allow you to play without a card.

My story might help you out. The first time I signed up with CET was at PH and I also took/lost $500 and earned around 500 tier credits along with it in about 2 hours. I was up big $ that trip at MGM so I gambled a bit bigger than usual that day at PH. Two weeks later a last minute trip comes up and I decide to call in the day of to see what rates they would give me. To my surprise they comped me the weekend.

I normally don't gamble as much as I did that day so they probably assumed if they brought me in I would gamble like that for 4+ hours. I remember playing a little bit of everything that day lol. Ever since, my offers fell off a bit and I only get PH comped on weekdays now that they know how I really gamble.

You don't have to show a players card to play cash game poker t any casino I have been in (tournaments, which I wouldn't play are a different story) I'm primarily a poker player , In all honesty I likely have not ever even wagered a dollar at a CET property outside of poker. That being said I generally to kill a few hours a day playing vp or some other slot machine while in Vegas - generally in the evening and generally at the casino I'm staying at (I also generally get a few nights comped as well)

I think I'm overthinking it , I'm just going to do what I normally do and give some of that non poker action to PH , if I get comps out of it I get comps out of it, if I don't I don't , haha

 

Maybe I should have said insisted? But then again, I alway show my card when I play poker anyway, so I don't give it much thought.

 

The other thing you do have to remember is not not just wait for 'offers' in your account. Log into your account & enter your dates in the calendar and see what pops up - although it might be a few weeks after your current trip before it will give you discount or comped rooms.

I play $400 per day in slots. That's my daily budget. I normally earn around 400-500 Tier Credits in a day. That is enough to give me free rooms all year at Harrahs, IP, Ballys, Rio, Flamingo (up to GO). Normally all week with some Saturday exceptions with Paris. Normally all week with some F/S exceptions at PH. Caesars not so much but usually low level room S-Thurs. (When I used to spend several hours at Caesars each trip I got bottom 3 room levels 7 days a week too - so they don't give you Caesars unless you play there or play higher).

And HOPEFULLY I don't spend $400 per day - Only went thru about $800 total in 5 days in March!!

Dewey gets comped rooms at Harrahs for poker play (think it's him? - someone on here). Not sure if he gets discounts at any higher level.

every poker tourney i play at cet property, you have to have a tr card. if you dont have one they ask you to go the tr counter and get a card.

 

Whenever I've been there, they've been perfectly happy to have people playing without cards. They may ask if you have one, or offer to print one, but if you say no they aren't about to boot you out.

 

So, for tourney you need one, but regular play, not?

 

This confuses me. Last year we were out there 2 times on offers from Wynn, mostly played there & one day played at MGM - that was the only M-life property where we played. Then I got offers for free flights & rooms at the Beau, and more recently 3 nights at NYNY + some food + FP + show tickets. There's a MGM offer in my M-life but not as good as the NYNY offer.
Also last year when I went solo, again staying & mostly playing at Wynn, I played for a while at Paris. About 6 months later offers from Paris starting coming in - Room FP etc. Prior to that play I don't think either of us stepped inside a CET property for more than 5 years but I could still access the CET calendar & get any property almost any day in varying room levels.
