OK..The wife and I (late 30s) will be in Vegas end of july for 8 days. We are going for a poker tournament/convention/softball trip. I am all set for lodging except for the last two days of the trip, and curious about Bills vs Ballys. We have an engagement at the NYNY on Wed night (we fly back home Friday) and need a place near that area for the last two nights..so, we will be coming from THE HOTEL, so I know it will be a drop down  I am looking for a place that doesn't charge resort fees..

    Thanks!

    DH -

I don't think you'll be that disappointed with either one of them. If you have a car, I'd probably recommend Bill's since they have a VERY convenient parking garage. The hotel is so small that you'll have a very short distance to haul your bags from the car to your room.

Am not a fan of Ballys so Bills gets the call.

    Big fan of Ballys here

Particularly the north tower. Large, hotel standard neutral decor.

    Bills rooms:

(this site also has Ballys room photos--but it has the old bedding; the above link has the new bedding)

One nice thing about Bills is that it is small & quick from room to strip.

Personally, I am not comfortable not having a safe in my room. Bills does have a safe deposit box at the desk--not worth the inconvenience to me.

Stayed at both within the last year and found both hotel rooms to be about the same with Ballys being larger.

    Bills pros:
    Access to strip
    Low limit tale games
    Super good housekeeping staff
    table game drink service

    Bills cons:
If you get a Flamingo road side room expect to hear sirens and traffic noise.
Slot machines are the worst on the strip in my opinion.
If your into constant thumping music Flamingo pool access for Bills guests.
Not a property that is willing to give comps

Ballys of course being bigger and being connected to Paris gets my vote just based upon access to food places and size. Ballys pool is for the laid back type of person who will find it quieter and less of a hassle finding a lounger. One final thing that makes Ballys our hotel of choice for now is the fact that we get 5 days of comps for our play at CET properties.

I am not too comfortable NOT having a safe in the room. With the potential chances of theft, you would think a hotel would value a customers business by having a safe put it in.

I am guessing I could 20 buck trick the registration desk at Bally's to get an upgrade to the North Tower?

    Thanks for your advice everyone!

I think Bills is fun to hop into at night to play some cheap games but I would much prefer calling Bally's home base.

im also worried about cigarette smoke. I am allergic to it, and will be avoiding spots that are heavy smoked infused. I know all casinos allow smoking, (most poker rooms do not, so i'll be ok on that) but i heard Bills is REALLY smokey!

I agree with alot said here

Bills can be very smoky--it's the only strip resort I really notice it at (at times) But I love to play there!
$20 trick has very good success at Ballys--in fact, they will nearly always comp upgrade you to North tower if there is availability, often without even asking!
