I received a survey from Caesars asking about my opinions for a new hotel called Hotel 3535. As has been posted around the internet, this could be the new name for Imperial Palace.

The survey first asked about initial thoughts about the name and whether you liked the name. It also asked what tier of hotels you thought it fit in with just based on the name. The next section gave you renderings and descriptions talking about how the goal is to be similar to a social network with photo booths that would allow guests to upload pictures to Facebook. It also showed Beer Pong which would probably be the replacement for O'Sheas. Finally it asked if the name fit the renderings/descriptions.

Did anyone else get the survey? Any thoughts?

Interesting. Yet another stupid name for a hotel.

    Fear the inn, 3535
If the IP is still alive
If Caesars can survive they may find...

Address as building name=laziness. I'd rather it was called The Hotel Formerly Known as Imperial Palace and was represented by an incomprehensible symbol.

Also received a link to survey in my email yesterday, though was referring to a "new" property called "The Quad". Weird name, not very appealing sounding from the survey questions and mock-up graphics included. Hmmmmm....

I think the Quad is going to be where O'Sheas used to stand.

IMHO... both of those names pale in comparison to even terrible names. You might as well call it IP2. When I think of 'the quad', I'm thinking a place for under-grads to hang out. Using your address is as annoying a fad as the one-word club names... Pure, Ice, Haze, Krave, Mix, Moon, Rain, Rush, Taboo, etc. What ever happened to the days when actual thought went into naming a new hotel where actual vision was utilized to create something magical? That being said, I do like "The Linq"(definition:a uniform programming model for any kind of data access) as a name for the whole complex(Osheas, Rock room, IP, Linq).

    I got the survey too.
After I googled 3535 it is the address of the Imperial Palace.
I did reply to the survey that it reminded me of the Zager and Evens song In the year 2525!

I'm sure they can come up with a better name than 3535..basing it off the address not sure if I really like it. For The Quad it reminds me of high school/college saying "meet me in the quad"

the name might be the thing that would attract a very young crowd...and that sounds like their intent.

I got mine today regarding The Quad.

My comment when asked why I didn't think The Quad matched the photos and description is that when I think of The Quad, I think of a college campus area where students go in sweats and flip flops, eat their bags of Doritos for dinner and bitch about one professor or another.

I was also stunned with the question near the end... If I were an investor and my goal was to drive business into my building, rate these 12 potential activities, which included (and I am not making this up) -

    * Putting a hangman or tic-tac-toe games on cocktail napkins
    * Scavenger hunts
    * Putting a phone on each table to stay in contact with other players
    * Sponsoring a Roller Derby
    * Photo stations for uploading to Facebook
    * Seven other equally bad ideas.

The worst part about that answer is that I could see hangman or tic-tac-toe... you need to print something on cocktail napkins, so having a game on there wouldn't cost anything and might be novel for a chuckle. But of the other 11 ideas, something had to be rated second, third, etc... and my fear is that someone is going to look at my list and say "Hey, look! This guy likes photo stations for Facebook". Egads.

I did too. Personally, the name sounds like a club not a hotel.

I did the survey this morning. Liked the photo renderings. Wish I'd saved them. Tried to do it later but it wouldn't let me back in.

Mine was for QUAD as well. Didn't like the name, felt it was meaningless, and was not representative of the look.

Some of their activity ideas were downright ludicrous: scavenger hunts, social network sitting areas, closed-circuit phones to talk to strangers within the casino. Really? I was certain they were talking about IP when "dealertainer" auditions was one of the proposed activities.

Quad and Linq. Sounds like a pair of competing breakfast cereals, like Quisp and Quake when I was a kid. Anyone remember that ad campaign?

    Nice look, though.

I'd love to see the photos.

Honestly, if I had to choose one of the two names, I'd choose 3535 over The Quad. A lot of the boutique type hotels use numbers and stuff.

Of the activities, I honestly think the photo Facebook thing would be good for two reasons:

    1. It would be very popular for people who are on vacation to post a photo

    2. It's FREE ADVERTISING for the hotel, Harrah's, etc - people would see it all over Facebook

    Great marketing idea actually!

This is what happens when you completely de-theme a hotel, and have to try to invent branding from scratch.

Personally I think they should have fun with their image and call it The Low Roller. Appropriate given what they are naming the observation wheel.

The renderings in the Quad survey are the same ones as shown on Vegas Tripping.

My survey was actually in my SPAM folder, but I check it every day because I have lost other important E-mails in there.

I guess I'm cool enough to be in the circle because I got one too. Mine was for Hotel 3535. I made a point of naming all the other hotels with the name "hotel" or a number in their name. The pictures looked like a cosmo rip-off with lots of graphic displays. I got the investor question too. I went on a rant about another bland non-themed casino is not what they need. They will soon realize what a degenerate I am and probably stop asking me!
