Hey guys im going to vegas again in August 22-26 and staying at the MGM Grand, my wife is going with me and it will be her first time as shes not a big gambler so iv always gone with friends or solo. My host set us up with a comped room and some food and drink credit. anyways I pretty much only play blackjack 95% of the time and some craps! I usually average around 180 to 200 a hand and sometimes more. with around a 8 to 10k bankroll per trip. I normally play on the floor which gets annoying at times with all the people around. My wife is not a big fan of being crowded with tons of people and them walking by so i wanted to Play in a less crowded HL room.My question is what casinos HL room will be a good fit? i wanna play in one were my 200 dollar hands wont be to to out of place and people will be around my limit. what casinos HL room will be a good fit? and were younger in out upper 20's. I dont wanna be to out of place, my last 6 trips i always play on the floor but this time i wanna step it up some to show her a good time in a nice HL room so she might come with me to vegas more often. thanks!!

At $200 per hand of BJ, you will fit in just about anywhere. Most HL rooms tend to be players older than in their twenties. If you're looking for a place where you would feel comfortable, I would suggest starting out in one of the less crowded HL rooms, just to get your feet wet. NYNY and Mandalay Bay are both close by, have decent, smaller HL rooms, and won't be as crowded as the Grand HL room

I would second the suggestion of NYNY, which is just across the bridge from MGM, after all. The High Limit room only has a handful of tables, but it has its own bar and a comfy seating area. It rarely seems very busy.

On the weekends, the casino itself is usually full of 20-somethings partying to the music at the circular bar. The High Limit room is just beyond there, near the taxi entrance -- far enough away to give you some privacy but close enough that you and your wife would be well-positioned for mingling or people watching.

thanks, i figured we would be kind of young, were not the young annoying type but would just prefer a less crowded area and quieter than on the floor. ill prob give Mandalay bay a try, they have the good S17 rules etc etc? i just dont want everyone looking at the young couple like were stupid or something lol.

No one will give you that look at the Mandalay Bay HL room. During two recent trips there, they had three BJ tables running with good rules with a $200 minimum

I should be so lucky to get by with a 10K bankroll for a 5 day trip. At $200 a hand, that's just one normal stack of black chips and a possible total of 10 bets for a bad session. And that's all you could bet per day. With occasional negative variance in there, you could never get enough time in for decent comps. 10K for 5 days is more like $50-$100 average bet. I'm not a counter but I can play basic strategy as good as anybody. How do so many of you manage that tight a bankroll with the high bet spread? If I'm alone with this kind of happening, when I play, I must have the worlds worst Karma. What's everyone's secret to bankroll management?

Well I usually don't gamble the first or last day of the trip so it's a bankroll for just 3 days because I come in wend night and leave Sunday morning but I usually start off at 100 a hand and move up to a few hundred from there sometimes a 1000 or so maybe for a few bets on a good night. Sometimes I'll loose my whole bankroll in a trip and sometimes win. So it depends iv done as well as turn the 10k into 35k in a trip before and lost all 10k the next. But I generally start at 100 a hand and move up

I generally agree. Betting from $100-$200 and more a hand, you are running a GREAT risk of ruin with only a $10k bankroll, probably about 25% or more. But if you're willing to go bust early in the trip and/or just willing to go bust at all, more power to ya!

I try to bring about $8000 with an average bet around $50 for a 5 day trip.

I think the Mansion will be fine for you. They have a shoe game that seems to usually be $100 min. The double deck game seems to vary from $100-300 min, depending on the day/time. The rules are good on both.

I don't find that room particularly overwhelming - most times of most days, it seemed fairly calm. Drink service is very good, the crew is friendly. I recommend it. I also enjoy the Bellagio Club Prive' - but it's a little more lively in my opinion.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to go play at the NYNY or Mandalay at that level.
