Hello there fellow fans of Vegas!

Well, I'm close to burnout at work and I desperately need a relaxing vacation. I'll be heading to Vegas at the end of August and I can't decide which hotel to stay at. I'm looking to spend time at the pool and some gambling but no serious partying or shows. I'll probably also spend some time in my room reading (Yeah I know that sounds lame, but I need to chill).

I got a 4 night deal for The Hotel for a little over $300 and the Cosmo is a bit over $500. I'd like to think that if I stay at the Cosmo, I won't be spending as much on cab fare.

If you were me, which would you choose? I'm also open to other suggestions.

The balcony at Cosmo is pretty damned hard to beat for relaxing...especially with a fountain view. Even from the bed in the 1BR Terrace Suite, the view is very peaceful.

Not sure why cabs would be an issue at TheHotel. Between the 15-20 places to eat, or even more if you count the mall and Luxor right next door, that reduces cabs to eat.

If you are not doing shows, then...

The Hotel would be more relaxing I think. The rooms at Cosmo are cool, but the ones we were in were not the best to sit and read a book. Actually, the most comfortable seats were on the patio.

Cosmo casino is much less relaxing and more "vegasy".

I love Thehotel (get a strip view); very relaxing. Lots of restaurants to choose from in MB and a bit beyond.

Don't forget the spa at Thehotel as well; very nice.

THEHotel, for relaxation, for sure! I know my wife loves the tub and she got a great massage at their spa.
The standard suite is very nice and the strip view is great. Plus the AC in the room is very cool!! You wont even have a clue it's 100+ outside.

I have not stayed in a Cosmo room (Stayed at THEHotel 5 times) but I do know the Cosmo casino and it's other areas pretty well. I like the Cosmo but I don't see much relaxation there. The Cosmo casino seems like more of a younger "party" and THEHotel/MB is a little more laid back (except for last week when it was crawling with little kids for some dance event)

Sounds like THEHotel will be your best bet. A cab ride from THEHotel to Cosmo will cost less than $10 but whats it really matter if you save around $200

I'd like to stay at cosmo one day but if I was going to Vegas for your reasons I would stay at THEHotel.

If you are looking to relax, the Cosmo is about the last place I would consider--unless you weren't planning to leave your room the entire time. Stick with THEHotel.

I'm a huge fan of both Cosmo and THEhotel but I'd have to give the edge to Cosmo. It has become my favorite hotel of choice but I don't think you can lose either way.

THEHotel would be my choice for relaxation. Wild and crazy party weekend? Cosmo. Interested in checking out hotties as they walk by? (AKA Talent)? Cosmo. Good pool, good restaurant choices and chill casino? THEHotel. I'm almost ready to make THEHotel my home casino....it's got a great couch for lounging on and reading.

Another vote for THEHotel, a very relaxing place to stay but when you feel like getting into the action so to speak there is plenty to do right next door. It's been our home in Vegas the last 4 years.

fyi - next door is just down the hall, and there is the MB casino. That hall is short, probably shorter than the long corridors in the hotel.

THEHotel and never leave the property. Why bother? Everything you need is there.

Yep I know, I have often questioned when people say THE is so far from MBs casino when in my experience it seems much closer to the tables and definitely to the Sports Book than MBs rooms are. I have walked the hall between the two many times :)

Thanks to all who replied. It looks like a certain lady friend might be joining so I went ahead and booked a Terrace Fountain View at the Cosmo. Let the countdown begin.

    Awesome!

I would agree overall that THEHotel is more relaxing--but I think I could easily relax in a Cosmo room...then have easy access to the rest of the strip.

    Have a great trip!

    Big change

Well, after getting a really sweet deal from SWA vacations, I dropped the Cosmo for Vdara. I've stayed at Vdara before and really enjoyed it. A 5 minute walk to the Cosmo isnt't going to kill me. Not to mention that I'm also saving over $400. I figure I can pass on the savings to The Cosmo's bartenders and lovely waitresses.
