Golden Grill at Gold Spike

I see nice deals, and I would like to try it out.

First, let me say that I am a coffee shop and diner kind of person. Though they have tables the Golden Grill also has a long counter where it is easy to meet someone and chat while enjoying breakfast, luch or dinner. I had most of my breakfasts there for the last couple of trips. American standard hash browns, 2 eggs, meat and toast ia about 5.29. Ham steak was a 24/7 special for $4.99 with a piece of hamsteak that will cover the entire plate. Coffee is about 1.79. Meal is hot, cooked perfectly and very tasty. Service is good and the facilities are clean and bright. They have a 12oz prime with baked potato and corn but I haven't had it in a while. It wasn't bad for the price but not as good at the California or Magnolia's. I am not sure about the other meals there but they looked good.

Good food, good prices, good service. Only thing I dont care for is the furniture.

 

Eaten there good hot basic food with good prices. Just don't get the prime steak special. Had it wasn't that good. Mostly fat than meat. Outside of that no troubles.

 

We got directed to the "God Spike" (the 'L" wasn't lit up on their sign) by a security guy at El Cortez when we realized there was no place open to eat at in El Co except some coffee place or something that we couldn't find.

They have (had?) a deal where you if your bill hits $50 or so, you get free t-shirts. Four of us had to order a good amount of food to actually hit that number, but we managed. I don't even remember what we ordered beyond the chicken parm I uploaded a picture of to facebook, but I don't remember not leaving full and satisfied (if not a little too full... I remember wanting to sign up for their players club and play some blackjack but after eating I just wanted to go back to my room and sleep)

The staff was awesome. I have no idea what time we were in there at, but it wasn't busy at all and they were hanging out BS'ing with the customers. Even the cooks were out joking around with us and others.

Something happened with the shirts, either they didn't have enough of the color or enough of the size for two of my buddies, so two waitresses scoured the rest of the casino looking for the right shirts. One returned triumphantly a while later.

I'm a huge sucker for good customer service, so just based on that alone I'll be making a return trip there if I happen downtown... but the cheap yet edible food helps too.
