We all have a soft spot in our hearts for comfort food. These foods are the ones we go to when we're happy, sad, lonely, or under the weather.

I'd like to know what your comfort food(s) are when you are in Vegas. These are the foods you go for when you are drunk and need something to soak up the alcohol. Or when you are ecstatic after winning a huge jackpot or had a great run at the tables. Or you managed to lose all your bankroll and need comfort from the frustration.

My favorite: Ox-tail soup at the Cal. The hot, savory broth hits the spot when I am drunk at 2 a.m.

Other favorites: Steak and vegetable stir-fry at the Cal Club. Saimin or Tripe Stew at Aloha Specialties. Shrimp Cocktail at the Golden Gate ( I haven't gone lately, is it still offered?) Spring Rolls at Lanai Express at Fremont. Hotcakes and sausage at the Golden Nugget.

A lot of my favorites are from the Downtown area. I'm a creature of habit so I'd like to expand by knowing what other people have when they crave comfort food. Feel free to share foods and places from all over Vegas since I visit the Strip and off-strip properties when I'm there.

I think information from all you members is better than just reading from a tourist book lol...!

Drunk, late-night eating because we're starving and haven't eaten for hours...Usually a turkey club with fries.
Hits the spot. It's usually at one of the casino/hotel's 24hr. coffee shop places.
Hard to do that wrong, so it's reliable when I'm hungry.

    Fun foods

I love sweets. I always buy me a krispy kreme donut. A garlic pretzel,
some ice cream and pastries. I have to always drink a coke.

Earls Sandwiches, Breakfast at Dennys at night time....the works.

This topic has given me an appetite for banana pancakes in the middle of the afternoon.lol. I think I will go make me some.

Can't really say I have a specific Vegas comfort food.

As a beginner I ate mostly at buffets. For dinners now I like to mix it up and try new things as opposed to a comfort dish.

Closest things I guess would be smoked salmon and mimosas for brunch, and steak for dinner. But I haven't got them nailed down to one location yet.

Agree with Crussader - the Cordon Bleu at BB / Paris is very good. My "comfort" food once each trip is the Lobster Chowder at the food court at Caesars.....surprisingly good...a must do ...and the bread pudding with vanilla sauce at Harrah's buffet - always makes me feel better about the day's losses.... LOL. Margaritas & Volcanic Nachos at Margaritaville can cure almost anything... :):)

I usually used to get a spaghetti & meatballs at the Caribe Cafe at the Mirage late at night, but they tore it down for a BB Kings. Meh. I'm all for themes, but not when it doesn't mesh with the rest of the property. That's another topic though.

If I had to choose now I'd probably get the white pizza, or some other type, a diet coke and my flask @ Grand Lux Cafe with my girlfriend.

Soup. I haven't found anything that I would consider the best - maybe the gumbo at Magnolia's - but that's what I seek out when I need comfort.

Not necessarily comfort food, but I never miss a chance to have something at Greenberg's Deli at NYNY.

carbs. i love soft pretzels and will eat at least 4 on every trip (drunk or not). i usually get them from ny pretzel because i have those bogo coupons from vegas4locals.com. i don't buy them at home because a) i can make really good soft pretzels, b) i don't have coupons and c) they have tons of empty calories! if i can't have pretzels, pretty much any bread item will do.

Country fried steak smothered in gravy with fried egg on top with a Newcastle draft at America in NYNY - fantastic drunk food

Also like the pizza places at NYNY for a quick drunk meal.
