i'm having trouble logging in to read the blog you posted. i will try again on my personal laptop later. i've been wanting to do a mt. charleston ride since i started going to vegas over 10 years ago.

my dad wanted to surprise me for my birthday last week and bought a 90 minute ride for me and my fiance (he found a groupon for it). i absolutely love riding horses. he confirmed last tuesday for a friday ride and was told at that time that the saturday and sunday rides were cancelled because the owner died. but they were very clear that the friday ride (my ride) would still be going on. well we drove all the way there (45 miles) only to find out they decided to cancel friday's rides too. yeah, i understand funerals and grief, i really do. however, they still have a business to run, so they should have contacted their appointments to let them know they were also cancelling friday (which was only 2 days away). it was a huge disappointment. :(

I did see that death on the website. Sad.
That is the place I went.
Let me know if you still can't get the link to my blog. It is hard for me to know if the links work for everyone or just for me.

We did that ride in April and the weather was glorious. We bought the Groupon last August and planned to use it in Oct. but it rained the day we were to go. They were nice enough to extend the coupon until we booked our April trip. We loved it even though none of us had been on a horse in more than forty years. I guess it's like riding a bike.........

yay, thanks dewey! love the picture. yeah, and you shouldn't have worried about your weight. they said they were going to put my fiance on a clydesdale because of his height and weight . and i would have asked to ride one as well since i love giant horses! and yes, this is the same exact company that decided not to contact us to let us know they canceled our ride last week. glad you at least were able to have a good experience.

    Thanks Dewey,
We did Bonnie Springs last trip and had fun but I think this may be our new place to go.

Well, I think Bonnie Springs looked better for those that have ridden horses. It seemed that you could do more with them. Not having ridden in a long while, I wanted a ride where the horse knew pretty much what to do.
I may look at Bonnie Springs next time if I feel like I could control a horse without being in a line with a guide.

Great report, and it looks like a whole lot of fun!

I am actually going to take a ride up to Mt. Charleston when I hit Vegas in a week and a half, and I was wondering what the mosquito situation is on the mountain with all that greenery - do you think I should I bring some insect repellent along or is it not really an issue?

Sine I have been there just once, I don't really know. I encountered none, but they do tend to leave me alone.
