Firstly I am only platinum. But When staying in a casino, we have always paid cash and used our diamond card comps at time of purchase when going to buffets,restaurants, and whatever else at CET hotels. This time I'm planning on charging everything to room. What is the best way to use comps on check out. Do I need to go somewhere like total rewards before checkout? Or should I go directly to check out and give them my diamond card and check out. Or should I do both? Looking at my account on CET I have a bunch of offers for 15$ off pool purchase, 15 off restaurant, 15 of buffet, etc. Offer says to bill these purchases to room. Will these be taken off automatically? Thanks
In my experience the offers that come with the room booking are always automatic but that doesn't stop me from checking my bill even though I have to wait for the check out line in order to get an itemized receipt. You can always call down and ask it be emailed at most hotels I have stayed at, if they are quick you can check it before even leaving.
The way it works is as porstaker stated any discounts associate with the promo you are booked under will automatically be applied. THEN - CET policy is to use your total rewards points towards any other charges. Only after all of your total rewards points have been applied will a host consider additional comps. Then it will be up to the hosts discretion as to what else (if any) additional discounts will be applied.
Always verify on your TV that appropriate promo discounts are being applied. I had an issue 2for different times when they still gave me a $100 food birthday offer. It would zero out any charges the first day & then stop. So they had to fix manually. I always go to check out & ask them to apply reward credits to my billing.
Important to note that, on non-promo charges to the room for food, you will be charged TR points for the tax. If you pay for the meals using points while dining, they do not charge tax. If you charge the meals to your room, the bill includes the tax. This is the way it's worked for me for several years, unless it's changed since March. If I have a meal that isn't "attached" to a promo such as a food credit or a 2-4-1 where it instructs you to charge it to your room, I always use points at the time of purchase to avoid the tax charge. If you are using points, you can have them applied at checkout. No need to engage TR or a host unless you want comps over and above you point balance.
Just be aware that your not entitled to all the offers you see on the TR page. They are applied to whatever room booking deal you take. I have plenty of offers like that but can't take advantage because it's better for me to book the room seperate from the listed offers. I get 5 nights fully comped that way, while the listed offers are only good for 3 nights.
From what I have read they now assess tax on 'swiped' transactions also - evidently the State or County didn't like it that they were not receiving sales tax on so many things. I read a trip report that indicated they questioned the clerk & they were told it was just implemented (4/1? 5/1? - somewhere in there). I remember reading the articles where the gov't wasn't happy they weren't getting their share. Depending on your play level, even if your 'offer' is only for 3 nights, you may still receive 5 total. They will display when you go thru the booking offer differently - they will say COMP or FREE - either way no charge. So try with the offer if it is available for your dates. All depends on your play level.
