Aside from this forum, of course!

With all the planning I'm doing for the trip in a few months, I'm in a strong Vegas-state-of-mind and looking for new blogs, sites, and forums to check out. Just wondering which ones people enjoy best as my Google searching hasn't produced too many solid results.

Not so much looking for "local news" type sites as I'm more visitor/tourist oriented with my reading, obviously.

I read the Weekly Column at Vegas4Visitors every Monday morning. Easy ten minute read and it keeps me pretty well up to date on what is going on in Vegas.

Cheapovegas.com isn't what it used to be now that its trying to sell a bunch of stuff. But once you figure out how to navigate to the old casino review pages on it, it can still provide some good info for research. And their maps are very readable and easy to use.

The pulse of vegas blog is basically CET propaganda, but since thats half the strip hotels it will have a lot of relevant news.

    Allvegaspoker.com for poker players.

Vegas Today and Tomorrow has a ton of great information:

oh - and www.vegas.com is one of my favorite sites of all - you will get a lot of valuable info on anything you can think of from there.

If there are any specific hotels or attractions you are interested in, tripadvisor.com is another place where you can read first hand reviews by people who have gone - very interesting and informative.

I agree, but I read and find it helpful, can be somewhat funny at times as well.

Also find vegas chatter pretty helpful.

Agreed that VegasTripping, Vegas Chatter, and Two Way Hard Three are excellent resources. I would also check Stiffs and Georges, Neon Dice, and Vegas Solo. They all have good and interesting information

Just checkin out Vegas Solo as I type this. I have to say that you can always tell the blogs and sites run by people who truly love the subject (hobby, location, etc) and writing vs the people who are just looking to make some extra cash off of it. The sites whose primary purposes are to make cash typically have more technical info, better budgets for trips, etc, but with the ones that love doing it just for the fun of it and to share the hobby with others who enjoy it always seem to get the energy and excitement across, providing more entertainment and keeping me reading longer.

LOL, I just finished reading your most recent trip report the other day and it's EXACTLY the type of blog I was looking for (not the ONLY type, but one of them!). I enjoyed it very much. If I was in a position to travel to Las Vegas more often than I currently can, I'd definitely consider starting up something similar as I love writing trip reports and sharing the experiences with people.

So true. Used to be one of my favorite Vegas sites. I rarely go there now.

    You're Too Kind

Thanks, dfalk! I write the thing, and I'll take "somewhat funny" any day!

Also appreciate you mentioning the Pulse of Vegas blog, Nevyn.

You're right about it being propaganda, but I try to keep things as lively as possible.

Yeah it's sad what's happened to cheapo. Used to be my first and second and third stop when whittling down what room to book. Now it's just generic Vegas room reservation noise. The new owners probably generate more money now, but the usefulness and charm are gone.

Yeah, that was a bit like me saying "hey, this is Kool-Aid" as I drink it.

And its not like you hide the CET association, anyway.
