    My Trip Report

Back in Vegas, flight MUCH better than the last one home. Full but not uncomfortable. Had A54, still got 2nd row aisle.

At level 0 waiting on the WAX. $2 vs $30 cab fare to get downtown is worth 15 minutes wait time.

Will comment later on the room at the Gate. One night there, then 3 at the 4Q.

Thought I posted the below this morning, but I must have screwed it up. Will try for more later.

Rough night. I spoke too soon. The WAX never showed up. After 45 minutes I got pissed and took the long walk of shame to the cab line.

"This is not the WAX you are looking for."

Fare wasn't as bad as I feared, 25 & change + tip. I did remember to tell him no tunnel, he took Swenson as far as he could, then right on red at LVB & down 4th.

Checked in at Golden Gate, room looks ok, but hot. AC doesn't work worth a hoot, 80 degrees at 11 PM. Seemed like everywhere I went was warm.

Was hungry & had a comp so I went to Dupars for the 1st time. Not impressed, had country chicken, breading was tasteless, gravy had a funny aftertaste, service was slow. Dessert was good when it finally arrived. It took over an hour for the meal, and the main meal only took 10 minutes to come (5 minutes before the water I ordered to drink).

Anyways, I stopped in at Plaza but didn't play. Most of the tables were devoid of dealers. Walked up to MSS to get a pale ale.

Boar bar was deserted. I mean empty. On top of that I got my butt handed to me on JOB and then chasing on DDB. I did get 4 to a royal dealt twice, but couldn't even hit a flush. I felt bad as I was Chris's only income.

After dumping my residuals in the Batman slot (no bonus), I dropped in at the Nugget for some DD. Started out ok, but new dealer was a vacuum cleaner, and I escaped with half my buyin.

The 8/5 Bonus quarter machines have been moved to make room for a new bar with no VP. They are now just outside the grill near Rush lounge. Got my 1st quads of the trip, but too little too late. Made my way back to GG, played my $10 freeplay, hit a couple more quads & finally made it to bed around 5 AM.

    More later.

I believe the last WAX from the airport leaves at 11:03pm. You must have just missed it.

    time to cool down

The trip is not going as planned.

I would take that as a sign of slow down on the gambling and carefully plot the gambling.

Missed bus, took cab, that you did not want to do. But your fare to downtown sounds like a bargain to me. I consider that cab fare a win.

The room with poorly functioning AC, that is a major loss. I cannot stay in a room unless I can put the room into arctic mode.

Good luck on the rest of the trip, at least you are in Las Vegas.

Jasonargo, I think maybe you are saving all your luck for the tourney or something. Good luck!

For some reason I thought you were from Toronto.

Well, actually, the reason was the 'argo' in Jasonargo - Toronto Argonauts. You can ignore any ramblings I might have made about the Saskatchewan Roughriders. :)

How to lose your bankroll in 24 hours without really trying.

After 4 or so hours of sleep, I dutifully updated the board & forgot the preview button doesn't actually post. Duh.

So, after waking up I decided to eschew walking to the Cal & get cheap coffee from the Pioneer. Not. Pioneer has been remodeled and has no coffee. So I made it to Hawaiian place for the large $1 coffee (regular is 50 cents).

Checked out & in no hassle, south tower at 4 Q. Not as hung over as I might expect.

Had tough sessions at El Co & Fremont, dumped 2 bills in the dollar 10/7 DB at the 4Q, & I am hitting the ATM.

Did the seafood buffet at Fremont, 1st time in a while (comped). It used to be a decent bargain at $16.99, now at 20 bucks, not so much.

Spent 2 hours at the Spike not winning the hot seat drawing. Even tried the Deuces Wild table game at the D with no luck.

Finally hit quads at 4Q before bed to prevent me from hitting the ATM a second time just before bed.

There were a few really funny moments during the day but I can't seem to recall them at the moment.

Standing in a long line at 4Q for free breakfast. VP tourney starts today.

Weas I was there at 9:45 waiting for the 10:07 that didn't show. After that I wasn't very confident about the 11:00 version.

Jason & the Argonauts greek mythology is where the name comes from.

Oh yeah, so I'm playing $3 BJ at the Spike, and look at a terrible hand. "Man that's ugly" I say, just as the waitress walks up beside me.

    Oops. LOL.

Not nearly enough sleep before registration for the tournament attt 8 AM. 1st session was awful, way behind. Decent breakfast buffet though.

Didn't win the Noon drawing at El Co, and crashed a couple more hours.

Headed out to Gold Coast & Orleans for some fun. Down about 700, need a comeback.

So yesterday I headed out to Gold Coast & Orleans. Took the SDX & the shuttle. Earned my 300 pts to get entry in the VP tournament, & scored pretty well. Prizes aren't posted until tomorrow, so I will wait. They had a drawing so I stuck around but no luck there. Won a bit on BJ & VP, then off to Orleans.

Played my freeplay, started getting killed at BJ, so decided to head back downtown. Shuttle came, but needed fuel. I got impatient & took a cab back. Another 30 bones down the tubes.

Weak sessions at MSS (VP) & Cal (BJ), lost my freeplay at GG chasing on nickel DDB, and back to 4Q.

Couldn't get on the DD table, so ended up at Let It Ride. Lost like 8 hands in a row then came back to make a few bucks.

Finally back on the 10/7 dollar machine and hit the aces on my 2nd hundo.

Here's a couple downtown signs for your enjoyment.

50 cent Hamms aren't the only drink bargains at the (once again) LAS Vegas Club.

From the mini sort-of bar at the GG. They did have a Keurig.

NIce hit with the aces. I just stayed at the GG monday 6/11. Could have stayed three nights comped but I left after the first night. The GG was WAY, WAY to loud from the outside. Some guys started jack hammering at, literally, 4:30 AM and it only stopped for a minute or two at a time until I finally gave in and got up at 7:00.They were working on the outside of the building from the FSE across to the Main St side for the next three days at least, thats when I had to leave after transfering to the Plaza. Nothing really other than that against the Golden Gate but I will never ever stay there again.Side note, I had three good meals at Du Pars and would go back to eat there again. Anyway after my rant against the GG, I hope the rest of the trip goes AAA+++.....

Quick update, made $40 out of $50 freeplay for the GC tourney, then got leid at the Margaritaville casino, hit the Royale for the double BJ coupon, and hit Riviera for a $10 matchplay on the way back downtown.

After 72 hours I'm back to about even for the trip.

Here are some quad photos to keep you going.

Found this sign at Binions, probably not as good a deal as the pizza & pitcher deal but still looks ok.

Thanks for the updates, sounds like you are doing pretty well.

I gotta ask Binions, tho - in what world is that pizza remotely "Chicago Style"?

I agree, that's clearly a NY style thin pie, plus if the pizza pictured is 10", then the serving spatchula is about 2" big.
