As far as rating goes, does it matter what the difference of time is between sessions? The first night, I plan to gamble, but for the next 2-3 nights, gambling may be sporadic because of some poker and Street Fighter(video game) tournaments. Then I plan to resume gambling for the remainder of the trip. To bring context to my question, I'm staying from July 5-10. I will be staying at Aria for the first night, then using my timeshare for the rest of my trip.
It might at CET props - I think they might rate you on an "averge per day" basis [I don't play at their places, so can't say for sure maybe someone else can confirm that] At MGM, Wynn & Venetian/Palazzo from my experience they rate you on a total amount of play, doesn't matter if it's all in one day or spread out.
I have been told directly by a couple hosts that the key number is a four hour average, tables or slots, even if on pennies, dollars or five dollars, they want to see the time in being an average of four hours
True, but just to specify - for a 4 day stay, for example, it wouldn't matter if you played for 16 hours on the first day & none the rest of the trip or 4 hours each day. But really it's all based on your total theo, so depending on the level of play & game 4 hours is more of a guideline than a strict rule. A player could get the same [or likely more] comps playing 4 hours of roulette @ $100/spin that someone else would get playing 16 hours of blackjack at the same amount per hand. Likewise someone playing $400/hand would get the same comps in 4 hours that someone playing $100/hand would get in 16 hours.
at MGM they will combine your play over all the days into a "trip" and average out your total play over the number of days. even if play day 1 and day 2, don't play days 3-5 and play again day 6, that will be seen as a 6 day trip. so since you're only staying at Aria 1 night, your best bet is to play there early and not play late rather than do what i said above that would be 3 days played, but count as a 6 day trip. just play days 1 and 2 and play elsewhere on day 6 so MGM only sees a 2 day trip.
If he's only staying at MGM the first night, then doesn't set foot on an MGM prop for the next 3-5 days, why if he went back on day 6 would that be counted as the same trip as day 1 & not an independent "day" visit? [since he doesn't appear to be staying at any MGM props days 2-6?]
yes. it's 7 days off before it will trigger a new trip. i once had a trip one weekend, left sunday, came back thursday for the next weekend and it combined it all as one trip.
Good to know. I'm guessing since MGM's casinos are mostly clustered in Vegas, they do this because they don't anticipate many day trippers? [though seems like this would somewhat hose people from SoCal who come in every weekend]
Do you feel it really influenced future comps? I have to believe (or at least hope) they use some common sense when it comes to evaluating ones play.
