Is it just me or is the Widescreen Excalibur Room just phenomenal?

Haha I don't know about phenomenal... lol. I only stay there if everything else is too expensive, but everytime I have the rooms have been extra clean. I always appreciated that.

On my first two trips I got Excalibur widescreen rooms via the $20 trick. I was quite happy with those rooms. They are nicer than the places I've stayed since.

IMO, it's possibly just you...it doesn't have the affectionate nickname of the "dirty castle" for no reason...

It's probably it's just you and a small number of other people.

I know for sure it's not me.

The casino, hallways, and food court may be "dirty" but the widescreen rooms are not. They are just as clean as other mid level hotels on the strip. I too had reservations as to the cleanliness but was pleasantly surprised.

Basically its a modern room with a flat screen TV. Its ok.. and its actually a decent room. But most standard rooms in LV are of that level now. Anything that is not of this level is below average IMO.

Thats why I dont think theres anything special about it. Its on a 3star level compared to other rooms on the strip.

Not counting penthouses, villas, and other high end rooms. To compare a PH Hollywood Hip or Paris std room is 4star. Then you have the Aria/Cosmo room which is on the 5star as far as standard rooms.

I had a comped room once a few years ago to tide me over between my check out from Encore and my red eye flight. I didn't like the room very much in Tower 1.

I won a one night standard room stay on hotwire last month for my fly-in day (arrived around 11PM, stayed on a 4 night comp offer at LVH the rest of the trip). They gave me a widescreen at check-in in Tower 2 at check-in. The room was very clean/nice. Won a few hundred playing BJ as well after check-in (and paid for resort fee via MILFe points).

I visited Vegas for a conference and my company put me up in that hotel. It's definitely just you. I will never stay there again. Kids, kids, dirt, more kids, more dirt....you get the idea.

I've read your trip reports and based on the other hotels you have stayed at (hooters etc) I'm sure this is the life of Riley for you. With that said.... It's just you & maybe one other guy on here :peace:

    Thanks for reading.

This is not just about the Ex, it's about the Widescreen.

And Grid, most hotels on the strip don't even appeal to me especially on the higher end. Rooms often too dark and moody. Loving NEW MGM rooms and Mandalay standard (would not upgrade if they discounted)...and many people feel these rooms are just decent because they are not the "highest end". Very few penthouses/villas appeal to me, and very few low end places appeal to me and very few mid-level places appeal to me. I can pretty much pay any room I want except penthouses/villas but there is no point. Waste.

And I'm a lover of the deal.

Widescreen room is actually "expensive" in the sense that I am not willing to pay regular rate unless for a certain reason (i love IP and thats cheaper and a couple other places), not so much because I can not afford it. This may sound like justification and all of that but I think it has to be put out there. I pretty much travel to Vegas several times a year (and pretty much anywhere I want in the world) and I'm on the east coast, so taking it to "life of the riley" is just not worth it.

I know what I like and what I feel I like, no high-end/low-end changes that.
