Taking the bus from the airport, staying at the El- Cortez, gonna live large and do the town right.

 

Let us know if you happen to see a single truck or person exit or enter the old Lady Luck site.... I swear they are invisible vampire workers. haha.

 

Will do, I've thought the same thing about how can they be doing any sort of fixup without trucks and workers.

 

Will you be there over the weekend? I'm curious as to whether you can hear loud music in the rooms from the nearby clubs.

 

When you check-in the the El Cortez, be sure to sign-up for their free shuttle back to the airport. Space is limited because it's a surprisingly nice Lincoln Town Car.

If you're looking for something different, try the Mob Museum. Afterwards stop by Mob Bar for a few well crafted cocktails.

If you like Thai food, I highly recommend Le Thai, which is across the street from the El Cortez. The prices are reasonable and food is excellent. Its my favorite DT restaurant.

We stayed at El Cortez last month. The Friday night we were there, VERY LOUD MUSIC from an outdoor club nearby (or not so nearby) made it impossible to sleep. It ended at 3:45 am. We were thankful it didn't go on again Saturday.

 

That sounds like another report I heard.

I'll scratch El Cortez off my list.

 

I will report on the noise(if any), whats the difference between Thai and chinese food, I like chinese alot.

 

I would not expect to have it much quieter if you don`t stay at el cortez.

we heard the loud music when we stayed there in march and when we left the room the closer we got to fremont the louder it got.

was only one night though I think it was friday night. I would guess that the california or main street station would be the quietest.

 

Huge difference.

First of all, when you say Chinese, if you mean North American Chinese like eggrolls, chicken balls, honey garlic ribs, egg foo yung etc. you may not be ready for Thai food.

If when you say Chinese you mean szechuan stir fries, hot and spicy, then you probably will like it.

Thai has a lot of different ingredients from Chinese, centering around Lemongrass, coconut milk, and curries. And probably lots of other things.

I've been having the green curry chicken there, the base dish is quite spicy (hot) so you have to have some tolerance for that.

And its fucking delicious.

I like spicy food, the hotter the better, I'll try to give it a try.

 

Got back tonight, trip went well except I lost my ass, can report not one bit of activity at the lady luck(walked by friday afternoon around 2 and not one truck or even car was visible in the moonscape), obviously nothing is happening, also I had a tower room 8th floor facing the strip - no noise at all from the fremont st bars, on a friday as well.

will try to give a more detailed report later.

 

We stayed in the Cabana Suites in April on a thursday and friday nights and didn't hear a peep. So they are another option.

 

I've stayed at the El Cortez Tower rooms many times and have never heard any club noise just some a fighting couple next door one time. I've also stayed at the Cabana Suites and they are quiet except for a honking horn now and then if you stay on the Ogden side.
