I know Paris on the whole is generally preferred to the Flamingo, however, the Go rooms seem like they might be a step up from the Paris luxury rooms, what do you guys think?

For this I would prefer we just consider the quality of the interior of the rooms as opposed to the overall effect of being in each hotel/casino. We probably will spend more time roaming than doing things inside the "home base."

Thanks for any insight you can perhaps provide.

I'd stay in Paris no matter which room I got at the Flamingo. That place is a dump. It's a shame too. I stayed there on my first real trip to Las Vegas quite a while back, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was clean, and the employees were very friendly. The drink service was perfect. Now, the casino is a mess. Room service trays are left in the same place in the hallway your entire trip. Garbage is overflowing. Drink service is stingy and the employees do not seem happy. I do enjoy gambling in Margarittaville though. The open air aspect of that place is very nice.

Same, I'd stay at Paris' lowest room before a lux Flamingo. I don't even like walking in Flamingo. Low ceilings, tight confines, feels like 10 pounds of crap in a five pound bag

I will disagree...I love the Flamingo Go rooms! There have been many threads lately on the Flamingo, I recommend you do a few searches and read some of the latest reviews and opinions by people who have stayed there recently.

I don't like to gamble at Paris and found myself walking back and forth to the Flamingo, where I prefer to gamble, many times each day. What a drag when the moving escalators are broken and it's 110 deg. So... I now chose the GO rooms, mine have always been very clean and the beds are great. Really like the TV in the bathroom mirror and the huge flat screen TV in the room. The blue rooms at the Paris are just fine (although many have really hard beds).

My last few trips, the drink service has been excellent. I usually have my own soda, but the waitresses still ask me each time if I want a drink. I'm usually turning them down several times per hour. My friend and I ordered a couple of mixed drinks and they were so strong we ended up asking for a glass of soda to "water" them down...LOL. Once we tipped for those, the waitress was back every 10 minutes.

Your vacation, your choice. I'd pick the property you like best and go for it!

I have stayed in both and quite liked the Go room. On room alone I might take Flamingo..pretty close...but I think Paris is a much nicer feel, i like being next to PH and across form bellagio and cosmo..so it probably comes down to neightborhood...and with the construction/linq I'd go with Paris..but i'd be happy with either...now Flamingo standard room is entirely differentstory....no way

Just stayed at Flamingo in March & last July also. Never encountered room service left in hallway. It is definitely not a dump. And yes, there were room service trays in the morning but they were always gone by later in the day. (May have been early in day but I didn't go back till later in afternoon).

I actually alternate my trips between the 2 - Go & Paris regular room. I like certain things about both hotels & casinos. However, I am unwilling to move hotels mid-trip. It just takes the fun out of it fo rme. So I just alternate trips.

Flamingo does still need a carpet re-do in the halls yet (ours had not been replaced as of March - not sure if they are doing it right away on the FAB floors or not). I won't argue with that. But I have yet to encounter anything on the property that would classify it as a dump. Some of the old rooms probably fit that category but they are mostly gone now & that is not the category you are booking anyway.

Flamingo GO will have more amenities like the flat panel TV & coffee maker & iPod dock (think you have to bring your own connector). (Paris only has Flat panel & coffee maker in Red). Some GO rooms have shower only while others have both tub & separate shower - Nearly all Paris rooms have both (only a couple at end of hallways have only a shower). Both have a fridge (Paris is the emptied mini-bar). If you are requesting a strip view at Flamingo, south view is preferable as chance of fountain view. Straight onto strip will leave you with club noise well into the night. Paris bathrooms definitely have more counter area if there are two females sharing a room.

Not sure what the validity of the stingy CW's is. I had excellent service - I do always smile & tip. I have found certain time slots where they change shifts that there is definitely a 'lag' - leaving one is finishing her rounds & the new one hasn't quite started yet. But I have experienced that at other places also. Seems like maybe 2 or 3 in afternoon???? Last trip Lori even stopped & welcomed me, introduced herself by name, told me if there was anything I needed, even not drink wise to let her know & she would find the appropriate person to help me out. Wow. In the Margaritaville area I just kept refusing drinks because I just wasn't feeling like drinking but they just kept sticking their head around the corner to double check every time they went by. I have only encountered 2 cranky people in all of my trips to Flamingo & I had one smiling by the time she brought me my 2nd drink.

The comment about hard beds at Paris is valid, HOWEVER, they have recently replaced a lot of their bedding. I was going to ask for a Red upgrade & pay the upgrade fee if the bed was hard as my back wasn't in great shape. When I checked in I asked for a room with a comfy bed & she hunted a minute. It was still a blue room but it DEFINTELY was a new mattress. It wasn't pillowtop but I would take that mattress at home in a flash. I slept great & never went back to request a change or upgrade. So if you aren't a hard bed fan (my husband is - ugh), ask if they can make sure you are in a room with newer bedding. I was very happy with mine.

Casino a mess confused me also with Flamingo unless poster may have been there when they were building new steakhouse, Carlos & Charlies & had part of sports book closed, moving TR desk & keno area??? Otherwise I can't figure out what the 'mess' would be????

Paris is my fav breakfast buffet. Flamingo is my bff's & her families fav breakfast buffet. Each person likes something different. (I do honestly like Flamingos too but Paris is a step above for me).

Atmosphere wise I consider Flamingo GO a bit more intense, while Paris is more relaxing.

Casino wise I consider Paris more relaxing also, unless you get over in that small band area - it can get very loud there. Flamingo is very loud up near the dancers in the hot pants inside the front entry.

My problem is I like both casinos & both rooms - so I should split my stay. Because I am hoofing it back & forth during the trip constantly.

I stayed at Paris in in 2009 & 2010. I love Paris. Over the past 5 years, my work has dictated where I stay. During that time, I have stayed at TI, Mirage, Paris, NYNY, and Rio. My favorite room (not Suite, Mirage Tower Suite takes the cake in that category) is at Paris.

My in-laws stayed at the Flamingo in 2002, while the wife and I stayed at The Mirage. I'm sure the rooms have had an upgrade since then. They liked it, but I thought the rooms were so-so. The Paris is FAR, FAR better.

Your choice is a NO-BRAINER. Paris all the way!

I just booked a Go room for July . I've stayed in both before and while Paris is definately the nicer property, the luxury room is a little uninspiring for me. Too much of a basic room feel. When I walk into my Vegas room I want to feel some excitement, not just an accommodation. GO, yes. Red room, yes. Luxury, no.

I appreciate all the posts, some really good prospectives in here.

I am mostly on the fence because I have the same outlook as Willy, I want to go to a room that isn't just a basic hotel room in Vegas, I want something off the wall or some sort of luxurious feel. I have I feeling I will like the Paris property a lot more than the Flamingo but I think I'll like the GO room much more than the blue room.

I guess this just means I'll have to come back for a stay at Paris! :p Woooo, next trip planning begins!
