Going during the week in July, want a nice room AND pool, am leaning toward THE Hotel as Ive already stayed at Signature and would like to try something different, I am just afraid that Mandalay Beach will be invaded by noisey kids and I'm looking for a place with an "Escape Pool" quiet area when the kids invade, is this even possible during the week in July? I like The Sig's small segregated pools but am intrigued by Mandalay Beach, just as a single guy (late 40's) don't want to be over-run by loud youngsters, thanks.

I have never really had an issue with children at MB's pool. In fact they really seem to be a very small portion of the guests at the pool. If they are indeed bad when/if you go there, there is always Moorea, which is 21 and over. There is a cover charge to get into Moorea, however, so factor that in as well.

Yeah - to me it's an easy pick for Mandalay Bay too. Keep in mind the pool area is huge. There are plenty of out of the way areas you can go to if you need to escape the action.

If you going first week of July MBs pool will be PACKED, that weekend is the UFC Fan Expo and it is a huge gathering and LOTS of kids, I have been to three of them and I would say the crowd is at least 60% kids and parents. The pool is huge yes but the first year it looked like and elementary school at reccess, no exageration. After May MBs pool area outside Moorea gets loaded with kids, that why we hit early-mid May when we stay there.

Try to get a pass for Moorea and you will be golden. I've done MB's pool several times, and it was hard to find a chair for just one person.

Signature has nicer rooms, IMO, but I like THEhotel almost as much. I'm a big fan of both, and have stayed at Vdara, Trump, Wynn, etc. in the past.

Resort fees are brutal nowadays, killing most deals I used to get. I was able to stay at THEhotel for 3 nights for $180 total ($200 with the $20 tip for the better room) in years past, but no longer.

    Have fun

I love The Hotel!!! Have a great stay. The lagoons that are far from the lazy river and off the wave pool should have less kids.
Enjoy your stay, you won't be disappointed at The Hotel.

THEhotel is really nice, and relatively quiet. Some people say it is a hike from MB, but I dont believe it is. It is close to the casino and the escalators that go up to the shopping mall. If you need some quick energy, the build your own yogurt sundae place by the escalators is a nice stop.

The pool area is amazing, but I found it much too crowded for my liking. It reminded me of the beaches at the Jersey Shore. If I had poked around a little more, I am sure I would of found some quiet spots.

I always rent a car when I'm in Vegas because I can get a convertible pretty cheaply, and I love going down the Strip at night. THEhotel has one of the better parking garages around....I can get a spot close to the doors almost always, and the walk from THEhotel to the sportsbook/poker room/table games at Mandalay is super short compared to some other places (Planet Hollywood garage, with your million mile walk through your shops, I'm looking at you).

I'll be in vegas during the same time....should be nice and quiet, according to the calendar.

Doug, you definitely booked one of the hottest weeks to be in Vegas. As fas as Mandalay pool goes, it's pretty awesome. We didn't have a problem getting 2 chairs. But we did go in September. My friend told me July is the busiest month for the pool at Mandalay.

You will love Thehotel, I have stayed at some pretty high class places, including Wynn. I still liked Thehotel better. Have fun and good luck!!

I have never really gotten that when people say it, THEHotel rooms are actually closer to the casino and sportsbook than the MB rooms are. A big plus is if you do rent a car the garage is right outsdie the door of THE like TAPA mentioned.

The casino is fairly large so they are both fairly close.. just different ends. The Hotel is clearly further to the pool.

Also, nobody said anything about the elevators. The Hotel elevators are quick and I never recall waiting for one more than 30 sec. They are also out of the way and seem to be MUCH less crowded when compared to MB.

The only small issue I have with The Hotel is the parking lot. It is laid out in the oddest. Also, the covered entry area to The Hotel (from the parking lot) makes it seem like an afterthought... pretty sure The Hotel was an afterthought. I am fine with it, and I love The Hotel (staying there in Sep) but the entry always strikes me as odd. I feel like I am driving up to a loading dock when entering the garage. :evillaugh

On the flip side, it is nice being close to parking though.

    I do enjoy the Sign

Even though the Mandalay Bay is one of my fav. places in Vegas, I have yet to stay there in my 11 trips.

I have however stayed at the Signature 4 times and really liked it. Twice with friends, and once with my brother and mom. My mom (about to be 60) loves the pool are and I agree. 3 pools, spread out. I think they are a tad more peaceful. Good drink service too since the area is much smaller.

The best thing about The Signature is that you can look into getting a good deal from a private renter on VRBO. Ive done this the last 3 times with flourishing results. For example, I went for 5 nights in October including the weekend. It was convention season and really busy. Through their website, MGM wanted 1.1k for 5 nights in their Junior Suite. The guy I found off VRBO sold it to me for $560. No resort fee either.

Although I love the Signature and the pool...wouldnt blame you one bit if you went to the Bay....love it there.
