Sumbich ya ever wonder why ya came back? Finally a chance to start the TR:beer::popcorn . So the flight went without a hitch till we dropped down for descent, got a tad squirelly then but nothing major. Limo to the hotel, I hate cabbing, and we arrive at Luxor after a short stop at a buddies house to say whats up. We got a GREAT rate for a Tower Deluxe, I think it was, and thought WTF lets try an upgrade thinking Players maybe. We had M Life check in so we watch the other schlubs waiting in the slow line:evillaugh and I ask, no 20 dollar trick, the hostess was as sweet as could be and we chatted a bit about our last stay there 4 years back in Pyramid Spa. She asked if heights bothered us and of course not we love MIX and Foundatio Rooms views, so she types a bit and says well you will like this room much better than the Spa suite. Goodbyes are said and I offer a tip for her great service and she refuses to accept  . We take the key, 10 free drink coupons and head to the room. walking down the hall of the 22nd floor of the East Tower I notice several double door entrys, some with marble floor. We arrive at the room, which is across the hall from the most massive and high quality doors on the floor open the door and see

    and this

    and the bedroom is this

That little darlin had hooked us up with the Tower Luxury Suite for a Tower Deluxe MLife rate

This was a nice suite in every aspect, we usually stay at THEHotel so we were not expecting this kind of room at Luxor.
These are in the entry way to the room
    [IMG]

The living area and art work
    [IMG]

Another shot of the wet bar, with complimentary Wolfgang Puck coffee, not bad coffee but not Harrar like I drink at home. But it's FREE!! Free mini fridge that worked, important for us as DW is diabetic plus we can buy cheap drinks and keep them cold.

The view was not the best mind you, I don't think you could get a great Strip view there to be honest, maybe but this was ours, look in the background and you can see the Skyvue supports and where the NASCAR coaster is being moved across from Mandalay. The mesh was the damn Crissy Angel wrap :vomit:

The bed which was quite a comfortable bed with great sheeting
    [IMG]

The TV/dresser stand, good roomy drawers with easy rolling casters and the basic 32 flat LCD regulat amenities, Ipod dock, alarm and such but no safe which I was not big on.

Some of the art in the boudoir, nicely done and well framed not cheap stuff according to DW
    [IMG]

The bathroom dual sinks, decent toiletries(Imissed my THEHotel ones) whirlpool tub and seperate shower that actually did not leak onto the floor  the closet was also in there

Enough for the night, been one MFer of a day back, wondering the whole time why I didnt take a 15G pay cut and take the job offer I got. More to come though, just gettin to the good parts ya know.

OK gotta fix something and may as well show the rest of the floors and elevators interiors long as I am at it. THIS is the Tub
    [IMG]

They have really kept a theme of sorts in the hallways and elevators in this area, the sandy and wood them gives a much more Egyptian "feel" to the place. Here is some of the artwork and elevator interiors to illustrate this "theming"
A close up of that view
    [IMG]

The sides of the elevators, nicely done hieroglyphics
    [IMG]

The elevator lobbies all had this piece or a variation
    [IMG]

A few examples of the artwork on the walls, As you can see these are not cheapo depot articles and closer examination shows they are actually pairly expensive well made articles, good framing and nice matting.

Thanks for posting. With all the de-theming going on in Vegas I'm pleasantly surprised at these pix.

With all the negative comments about Luxor posted on the board, I'm very surprised.

We had arrived late so after getting settled in to the room we head down for a bite to eat before hitting the Casino floor, Backstage Deli for a Patty Melt and Fries fills the bill well for that. As usual not dissapointed, good quality of meat, fresh onions and bread and crispy fries and big enough for the two of us to split. Afterward we hit the floor, it's late and my brain is in neutral at this point so no table games just slots, I don't wanna think I just wanna chill out.
Usually Luxor is kind to us and while not REAL kind we played the rest of the night and ended up a little over 170 between us. The Aristocrats were dead but the new WMS Collosal Reels were on very well, a couple of 300+ hits on Van Helsing and Spartacus made up for every bit of losses and then some.

One new thing at Luxor Liquidity is no longer but the rest of the lounges, Aurora, Playbar, High Br and Flight all had $75 bottle service from10-1 and Cathouse had AYCD for 25 till midnight every night. We took advantange of that at Aurora with a bottle of Grey Goose and for that price the service was every bit as good as other bottle service for 5 times as much. We hit the hay about 2 since I had an interview at 2 the next day and didnt want to be TOO hungover ya know.

Next morning we hit the MORE buffet for one of our Social Rewards freebies and as I posted it was surprisingly good for breakfast with a good selection and a very good Chorizo and Eggs I took full advantage of. Not full service as you had to get your own drinks but better than some others I have had for sure, close to Mandalays breakfast honestly with a few less selections. After breakfast we head to Mandalays Sports Book to sit in on my friends at MMA Junkie Radios show at 9 but first we hit a few slots at Mandalay, no big ones and the WW2 was tight but DW hit a nice 177 dollar bonus on her lucky Prophecy machine and I managed an 89 dollar on Black Widow. Far better than we ever have done at home on those machines to say the least, which was a part of the trip to see how badly players in Oklahoma get screwed by the tight machines here. Yeah we get it with no lube to say the least even compared to the Strip.

After the show I have 4 hours before my interview so we head to the pool where we get a comp of two padded chairs with umbrella. No pool pics sorry. Luxors pool area for those who have not been there is pretty nice by most standards with heated jacuzzis seperate 18+ area and all the amenities you expect from a nicer Vegas pool area. But gotta say the water was still pretty dang cool, not like last Aprils trip but still pretty damn chilly. We chill around the pool, have a couple fo drinks, White Russians for me to avoid any smell and meet a couple from our state who is in town for a seminar series of some sort and make plans for later that evening.

The interview goes well and I got the offer but damn they need to start paying folks there in town. The offer was over 15G less than I make here for the same posistion, so I passed on that one and will continue searching. We ARE going to make the move hopefully sooner than later.

    To be continued..............

So was I Joe, I took the deal due to cost but man at least this part of Luxor is first class. I cant speak for other areas of the hotel but this part was as nice as when we stay at THEHotel or even Wynn in most ever aspect.

Interview done, time to eat! I have been waiting since it was announced to try the Slice of Vegas Pizza place that opened in Mandalay Place, I love great pizza and a good NY style is in the top for me. Only one pic as my faithful former Blackberry fritz out on me
    [IMG]
The prices are reasonable 4.95 for cheese, 6.95 for the gourmet slice of the day and ala carte, they also have a very good beer selection as my pic shows which I took advantage of both visits. This time it was just a slice of Italian sausage with Jalapenos, the Fat Tire, a Moose Drool and a Tres Pistoles, got stay hydrated they say  .

We head back to Luxor to play a bit unfortunately I could not find a good Craps table no matter how hard I tried, the die were against me so I headed to the BJ tables for a bit with better luck, not great as I only came out 75 up in an hour but it was only $10/hand. Meanwhile the wife had stayed pretty much even on the slots with some good bonus rounds on a few new games to us. We both realize that the time difference has aught up by the afternoon, we were up till 4:30A our time and up around 8 our time. We head back for some ZZZZZs for a bit to recharge the batterys for the night.

Ready for the night we had seen where Tender had a wine and cheese tasting so we thought that and one of the deli trays woul be a great source of energy and beer sponge so off we head. Again no damn pics due to failing Blackberry and DW had left her new Windows phone charging :grrr: Lets say the deal is a good one if you are a fan of wine and cheese, if not you will most likely be dissapointed. I went with the Truffle Tremor Goat Cheese and the Moucou Colorouge with the Apothic Blend and Ferrari-Carano Merlot 2006 I'm not a big wine drinker but these were good pairing suggestion from our server. The wife went with a pair of Chards a Bandich Cheddar and a Gruyere, the Gruyere was very, very good, the chesse were accompanied by baquttes and crackers. The Deli tray is one of the best with bresaola, finochietta, wild boar sausage, hot coppa, duck ham and antelope pastrami with crisp parmesan crackers and Mendocino mustards. The surroundings are great as well
    [IMG]

We met the folks from the pool at Flight Bar and both took advantage of the $75 bottle service for them with a bottle of Grey Goose and myself drinking Whiskey Sours and a couple of Moose Drools and the wife having a few wines. From there we had VIP at LAX, which is usually my top place, but I will never go on industry night again, that place was a madhouse moreso than usual so we change up and decide to hit Cathouse. The wife had free drinks till midnight and I took advantage of the $25 AYCD and had VIP entry as well. Cathouse it seems gets better with each new incarnation and honestly was MUCH better than LAX on this night. A great vibe with a mixed crowd and the DJ blew the one at LAX out of the water, no comparison, plus the Mad Hatter was handing out cup cakes to the ladies and playing the fool, a great time.

Me and DW getting ready to head out
    [IMG]
    Momma and the Mad Hatter
    [IMG]
Me and one of the many Hookahs they have on display, along with many in the bar for use:whistle:

We closed the night out at Cathouse and had a BLAST dancing and drinking, the great thing was both of older folks fit in with the young, and nice looking crowd. We dragged back through the Casino at around 3AM, played a little Craps where I had better luck than earlier hitting several odds wins despite inebriation I seldom play with.

Tomorrow is coming up where I tell of my great Pai Gow adventure, medical issues, Carrot Top and Tequila.......stick around folks theres lots more to come, just warming up.

You're making a stay at the Luxor a lot more appealing than any other TRs I've read. Thanks for all the info, especially about the wine and cheese at Tender :licklips:

So many negatives previously posted here, but I've never stayed there myself.

    Glad you're having a great time.

I have to say I am confused about the negatives myself as we did not experience a single problem at Luxor, from the cleanliness of the room, drink service, dealers or anything. Who knows, sure as hell not me after this stay. But on to the next day.

Thursday was going to be our day to walk the Strip and we started at THECafe for a great breakfast
    [IMG]

DW chose a Ham, Cheese and Tomato Omelet I went with the Sausage Breakfast. Her Omelette, according to her as I did not get a taste, was excellent, great ham, Gruyere and very fresh tasty toms, my breakfast included Portuguese, British Bangers, and Chicken Apple Sausages, both had the great, and I mean GREAT Caramelized Onion Parsley hash browns great toast and spreads. I am being honest when I say after trying both a few times, that ambience aside, THE Cafe beats the hell outta Mon Ami in quality of food, price and service when it comes to breakfast. the only bitch was they had changed my favorite, a Dry Aged Ribeye and Eggs to a Flat Iron, Flat Irons good but no substitute at the same price. Plus next to Verandah THE Cafe has the best coffee and juices we have had in Vegas.

We make a quick stop at my buddies radio show to rub in the Thunders win over the Lakers and head out to the room to get the cameras for our walk. Now we have been through the walkway between Luxor and the Trashy Castle many time, but only seeing Criss Angels :vomit: store we never went through that area to the east of the walkway. You want theming it is still there as it was when the place was built along with Relics a great shop with some Geodes I am going to have to look at closer next time.

DW with a pair of some Egyptian Goddesses, I am not that sharp on Egyptian mythos so I won't try to name them, give me my Nordic and that's another story. :)

Yours truly with a trio of critters, Hippo, Camel and Water Buff
    [IMG]
    Me again and a Guardian
    [IMG]
the next few show what I mean about this area having stayed the same, a great Egyptian Temple feel to the place.

Off we head for the long walk where we encounter our nemesis when it comes to Slots, the green Monster MGM Grand to try the Lions Share, 105 bucks and nothing, zip, zero, nada. We try a few more and another 200 down the drain. I really hate that damn place after this trip, no drink service at all and slots so tight you feel like you are playing at home. Off we head on the jaunt stopping at Monte Carlo to spin a few machine, we actually got a few hits there, nothing big but enough to get back a hundy of our MGM losses. About this time DW starts feeling a bit ill and goes to check her blood sugar, which was running high so she adjust her pump and we decide to stay a bit longer. we stay another 15 with some good results on several machines, we are getting back what the MGM took slowly, but then she tests again and her sugar has risen higher and she is feeling nauseous. We catch a cab back and discover when she changed her site the shunt had bent so she was getting zero insulin. Not good to say the least, so she corrects that and lays down and I watch some tube and read the latest LV mags in the room, after about an hour and a half she says she is starting to feel better and her sugar is going down and tells me to go play some. This is where it gets good.

I head over to Mandalay to burn some time playing Pai Gow Poker which I have really come to like more as a time killer than anything where money is not lost fast but usually not gained either. Notice I said usually. I start off on a good note winning the first 6 of my first 10 draws and only 1 loss. Next thing I know I am in the meddle of the BEST run I have ever had winning 14 straight hands followed by 3 pushes and 6 losses then another run of 11 straight wins. By the time DW comes and finds me I am up 2800, on Pai Gow of all things and at table means also. An Epic session to say the least I will most likely never see again.

DW is hungry for obvious reasons so I tip my dealer a hundy and we head to Tacos and Tequila where we have Social Rewards for 4 margs and a Restaurants.com. DW is not a Tequila fan, and really neither am I, but hey it's free margs so who am I to say no. Now we have always avoided T&T before the last trip but with the R.Com it is a good deal. We start with the Queso Fundido for app, along with the first two marks and a White Sangria for DW. For the main I order #2 Combo with Chicken Tamale, Beef Enchilada and Shaved Beef taco, DW goes with the Tortilla Soup and I let her have the Taco from mine. T&T serves some damn good Mexican grub, the Tamals were reminiscent of a street vendot here locally, but with better meat, the Enchilada was very well done with a great sauce and the Taco and Soup were very tasty as well according to DW. So after 4 margs for me and 2 sangrias for DW it's off to play some slots again. Luxor was not our friend this time, not as bad as MGM but not great at all.
