Going to rent a car for a day, check out Red Rock. I want to hit some resorts while we have the car. Seems as though East Side Cannery and Sam's might be interesting to see. Also thinking of M Resort, maybe Red Rock Resort since it seems we might be close. Already been to GVR. Considered hitting the Fiesta maybe for some cheap drinks.

If you have a car, sure. Sam's is more interesting than Eastside, but since both next door to each other, might as well check 'em both out.
Bear in mind, you will be doing a fair amount of driving from Red Rock to M Resort to Boulder Hwy and back.

The M is way and gone in the middle of nowhere, technically in Henderson, right by the 15 Freeway. It might be worth a stop if you're driving in From Los Angeles. South Point would be a better option, just head south on Las Vegas Blvd from Mandalay Bay a couple of miles. I was never a big fan of Red Rock, too isolated. Fiesta Henderson is OK but the Gambling is better in Henderson. Fiesta does have a great Sunday Champagne Brunch as well.

Here's a list of all my favorite Boulder Highway Casinos:

Arizona Charlie's Boulder, Sam's Town, East Side Cannery, The Longhorn (enter at your own risk) Skyline, Joker's Wild, and we save the best for last..... Oh Henderson my home away from home!

You just gotta try em all!
    from a former post...
You guys don't know about "Emerald Island"???
120 Market Street Downtown Henderson Nevada.

The smoke is so thick you can cut it with a knife. As you descend down into no man's land the stench is enough to knock you over. A Blue Haze lingers in the air like thick fog on London Winter's night.

Dorothy, you're not in Kansas anymore.

This is where broken locals go to play out their last few remaining pennies, as it is Las Vegas's only "All Penny Casino"! Yes, they actually advertise it as such. Oh those glorious penny machines of every imaginable variety. And don't forget the five star (or is it 5 pennies I forgot?) dining. Food fit for a King! (here King, here boy")

Just around the corner is the infamous "Rainbow Club and Casino", 122 S. Water Street in beautiful Downtown Henderson,
Large High Def TV's adorn the walls with nature scenes as the crusty locals bang away their last few dollars. Now here, the food ain't that bad. Especially if you have the buy one get one half off coupon that comes out in the local gutter rag that can be had merely by a quick stop to the paper box right outside the side door, free for the takin! Try the meat loaf Ma, It's downright gooooood!

Right next door is the world famous "El Dorado" casino, 140 S. Water Street. It used to be my all time favorite casino, until they took out the Craps table and replaced it with a bank of video slots. Oh those nights I'll never forget on that dollar table, I never seen so many green chips on a table in my life, but then I ain't never been to Caesar's palace or any of them other fancy carpet joints over on the Strip. Nope, too rich for my blood. I still love it here, cause it brings back so many foggy memories. They had the best drink service I ever had, cause I think I'm the only one on that table that ever tipped more than a quarter, at least it seemed so. On Saturday nights they even has a country band nestled up in the corner train wrecking your old time favorites.

There's really no need to look any further, as a good time can be had by all as you crawl back and forth to these lovely establishments located just outside Las Vegas proper in beautiful Downtown Henderson.

Look for me! I'll be there dressed in my cleanest tennis shoes, ball cap and yesterday's tee shirt, (the one with the leastest stains) drink in one hand, cigar in the other rocking to my own personal tempo.

Oh God, how writing this makes me long for my next jaunt to HenderTucky and those bright lights and cheap beers in a plastic cup as I bang away on those nickle slots, because here you see, I'm a High Roller!

I know this is a little off topic, but I loved going to the Nevada Palace (now torn down for the Eastside Cannery).

They had $2, single zero roulette! The place was an absolute dump, but I made it a regular stop just to hit that $2 table.

I love casino hopping on the boulder hwy and outlying areas. Won't go back to red rock, not worth the drive and reminded me of the palms...too trendy. Don't forget about silverton if out on i-15 and if ok with about a nice 40 mins drive... Hit buffalo bills, whiskey petes out at Prim. Hit the coaster at bill's if you dare!

Lol, "go to south point and not M because it farther away"....??? Really. M is 1 exit and all of 4-5 miles further south. SP is a nice place but for an extra 5 min car ride I'll go an extra exit to a 4 star resort that is M.

M has great drink prices, the hottest cocktail waitresses, the best buffet in town, tons of games and good rules at low limits on their table games.

If you have a car and don't mind doing a casino hoping tour of locals joints I would suggest Red Rock, Suncoast, Rampart, Santa Fe Station, and Aliante Station on the west/north west side. Boulder Station, SAMs Town, East Side Cannery, Fiesta Henderson (not the best casino but it's out that way), Sunset Station, Green Valley Ranch (if you care to stop there again) and Finally M.

Then if you're headed back to the strip 1 exit north of M is South Point. 3 good reasons to stop there; best VP in town, best movie theater in town, and the only Steak N Shake in LV (maybe the only one in the southwest). From South Point the next exit north is the Silverton casino. Only been there once but it was nice. They have a cool aquarium near the Bass Pro Shop. Free buffet for new slot club members.

If you want the casino trifecta then on day 3 you could hit up the smaller joints in NLV. Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho, Wild Fire, Cannery, Jerry's Nugget, Lucky Club, and one or two others that I can't think of off the top of my head.

not on boulder strip but i really liked fiesta rancho. nice people working there plus really cheap beers. i think it was $1 drafts or something like that. i drank a ton of them while just wandering around.

signed up for a card and got 500 points, used them right away for a free bingo session, could have had the buffet or bingo.

M Resort is a must visit.

It differentiates itself from other casinos.

I also vote for The M - it is very easy to get to. You just go South on Las Vegas Boulevard, and it is not a bad drive at all (The M is about 10 miles from Mandalay Bay). You can stop at South Point casino on the way there or back, as it is also right off Las Vegas Boulevard. The M is a really elegant casino, and the Hash House location there is clean and the food is great. There is no reason you shouldn't visit Red Rock as well, since you will be close by.

Sam's Town, Eastside Cannery, and Longhorn are all within walking distance. Boulder Station and Arizona Charlie's are North on Boulder, but not walking distance. It's also not a great neighborhood, so I'd be cautious. I've made a few jaunts walking without incident around there, but really prefer just to drive now. There also seems to be alot of accidents on Boulder Hwy.

I think Sunset Station in Henderson is a very nice property and worth a visit. I'm just partial to the Gaudi Bar I think. :)

Emerald Isle is in old Henderson and definitely driving distance (several miles). Old Henderson definitely has its charm. I enjoyed myself. Best to google map these locations for directions.

All Boulder Hwy casinos are locals' casinos and so you'll see a different sort of customer base than the Strip. I actual prefer off-Strip casinos, but to each their own. If nothing else, you'll get to see one of the two mini-Welcome to Vegas signs. :)

I used to do Boulder Highway coupon "runs" with both the LVA and the ACG but lately I haven't done so. I walked between longhorn, samstown, and east side cannery. I've twice stayed on boulder highway once in the Castaways resort and once at Arizona Charlies.

They are locals casinos and therefore you'll pretty much find that they have 1 to 3 dining options 2 to 3 bars, sams has a movie theater attatched, and they'll have some decent food deals.

I stopped going into sams since they no longer offer the 2 free drinks to everybody and only for first time customers.

Yea, that quote kind of confused me as well. The M is not THAT far from the south strip, and is really well worth the trip.

99% of my trips are spent at the off strip casinos.

Love playing at Fiesta Rancho, Boulder Station, East Side Cannery, Sam's Town and Texas Station.

One Sunday last year my wife had a spa day so I played at all of the above plus LVH, Terribles, Palace Station, most DT casinos, South Point and M Resort. Checked out the WildFire , Arizona Charlies and I believe Jokers Wild too.

It's worth a trip to check them out IMO.
