I'm going to be in vegas with my Fiance for the first time together, I know she loves the whole spa thing and I know I will want a solid day to play in a poker tournament/cash games (of which she maintains zero interest). I figure if I can set her up with a few hundred at a spa and then tickets to this Phantom of the Opera show I'm doing my best to avoid and that should keep her plenty busy (along with some pool time) until I'm done.

Question then becomes, where should I get her some Spa credits/gift card. There are some current deals out there for $99 for $200 of services at both Paris and PHo. We are staying at the Flamingo for this trip, those are pretty close and I'm assuming way better than the Flamingo "spa."

I've never been to a spa myself so I'm working with no knowledge.

If another spa (Ceasar's/ARIA's or whatever) is so unbelievable and so much more fun to be in, I would ditch the discounts and just get her some appointments at that place. However, I was reading some other posts and having to travel a decent distance after a relaxing spa sorta ruins it. What do you guys think, is there something another place has that must be experienced? If not, which is better PHo or Paris? Where should I set her up that will make her eyes open wide, mouth drop and completely disguise the fact I just blew half a grand busting out first in a tournament I had no business being in.

    Thanks all!

I will heading to Caesar's spa tomorrow, "Qua" so I will report back my experience. Supposed to be a great one though. They take Spa Finder gift cards there as well.

saw this deal on travelzoo and am very interested in people's responses as well. i was leaning toward the paris simply because we're staying at bally's, and paris is easier to get to.

The same company runs Paris & PHo spas, so they really shouldn't be too different. I don't know the Paris spa, but enjoyed PHo many times- as Elemis (under Aladdin and PHo pre-CET) and as Mandara now that CET runs it.

I always vote for the spa closest to my room, so if I were at Ballys, I'd go to Paris:thumbsup:

I did some research as i also saw (and just purchased) the travelzoo coupon...from what I can tell the Paris spa got really bad reviews which I could find very little on PHo...since PHo is newer I went with that...I am also interested in what people have to say

I think the facilities are actually older (the hotel is older than Paris by a year or two) I'm not sure what has been remodeled eg when CET bought the property and switched the spa management company to Mandara. In any event -the facilities are similarly aged.....

I was staying at the hotel when the casino floor was being remodeled in the Aladdin to Planet Hollywood phase. The spa did not change at that time (Jan 2006 https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19273&highlight=aladdin )

As a man who partakes in certain spa treatments, my opinion is this, unless the spa in question offers some out of the extraordinary room or service, it really isn't worth it.

Take Caesar's spa for example, with the snow room, rain room, roman spa and all that, that's cool and something you're not going to find at a local spa, but if you just want a mani/pedi, facial, massage or other service you can get locally, the pricing in LV is typically way overpriced.

I have done treatments at several spas in LV and just came to the conclusion, if you're looking for a specific service, do it locally.
If you want to spend your day in a spa trying and using all the saunas, ice rooms (like Caesars), roman baths, jacuzzi's and more, essentially make a day of it, then go for it.
The PH and Paris spas aren't all that special and are in my mind, "treatment only" spas...not a hang out and relax in various experiences type of place.
QUA at Caesars is the place to go for that "full luxury over the top can't get at home" experience to spend a day or few hours.

I have to agree with engicedave.

Other than spending a lot of cash for a massage etc I suggest you use that time to experience the Spa itself.
Some will have older or poorly designed facilities or maybe not the greatest of staff.
Some Spa's will have better workout equipment while others will have nicer Spa facilities and lounges.

Qua at Caesars would be my first choice followed by Canyon Ranch at the Venetian/Palazzo as my 2nd choice.
Overall I think you will find Qua meets the highest standards in LV.

I usually go early in the morning for a work out then spend another hour or so using the facilities.
Then I'll go back that same evening within the same time period and use the facilities to relax after a long day.
That way you'll feel like you've gotten a 2 for 1. Be sure to hold on to your original receipt.

You'll be able to charge Qua to your room as long as you are staying at another Harrah's/Caesars Entertainment owned Resort.

Maybe Qua is what I'm looking for... The PHo and Paris spa's seem comperable but also seem to fall into the category of "treatment spa's." I think it will be worth a trip across the street for her to spend a few hours reading in their different sauna's and pools, drinking tea and eating fruit, then getting a nice hour massage.

In fact.. that sounds just like her.. lol I think the facilities will meet that "over the top" mark, which will be perfect.

If someone knows of another strip property with spa just as unique as Ceasar's or better, let me know. I'm looking to get her set up with something she'll only be able to get in Vegas.

I've not yet read a review of Qua by a woman. A lot of those facilities (ice room) are only on the men's side......

I personally can (and have) spend hours in the PHo spa. Relaxation is a priority and I was able to relax very well there. I've also used the fitness facility a few times and it's ok. I like the Palms marginally better but it's much further away from where I'd normally stay.

I typically get an exfoliating body treatment, maybe a wrap, and a massage. I only do body treatments on vacation - never locally (I get pedicures every 2 weeks at home - that's not a "spa" to me - that's just maintenance ;-) Vegas prices are actually pretty similar to the day spas around me, and similar to pretty much every other vacation spot where I've had a massage. So, you know, opinions vary on this topic ;-)

My girlfriend spent a few hours at the Qua Spa in Caesars about a month ago. She loved it. She was able to use the different rooms; her favorite was the one that had snow falling in the room. She also got some sort of treatment. Included in the cost of the treatment was all-day access to the different baths and rooms. As far as distance from the Flamingo, I think Caesars might even be closer than Paris or PH.

With all this talk of distance, I wonder, why not just get a cab?

I realize that's an obtuse response - but if the main concern is proximity, because no one wants to have an arduous walk back from a spa day, why not just spring for the $8 cab ride and choose whichever facility offers the best experience?

This would seem preferable to making a decision based on walking distance.

It's true, if you are spending $300+ on a spa day might as well take a $10 cab back to maintain relaxation. I just think that if two places were relatively comperable and I was staying at one location, I would probably choose to use the spa of the place I was staying, just ride the elevator upstairs.

But yeah, Ceasars is a REAL short distance and both of us love walking so I'm sure that would just be another part of the experience.

I find that to be a pretty pleasant walk anyway. Depending on the specific location of Qua, you probably have options as to which way to come back. The bridge at Flamingo Road is almost certainly the shortest, and you can stop by the fun little courtyard area on your way - but walking up towards the Mirage and back through the bend outside Harrah's is plenty of fun.

Also, you can pick up a guitar full of daiquiri - and who doesn't love that?
