    Yes, it's loud downstairs.
Yes, the Long Bar has pathetic paytables. 8-5 bonus with the break-even on the 2 pair. 8-5 double bonus. Anyone want to calculate how high the royal would have to be to get this anywhere near playable?
The area downstairs back by the registration is still unchanged at this time, with their old coin-dropper VP games. Music really doesn't overpower that area.
Upstairs seems cleaner. No sign of a Sigma Derby machine. The music is not invasive from downstairs. The walls from the old poker room are gone, and the entire area is full of slots. The old coin dropper bonus progressives are still intact by the "sports book"
The Vue bar is still awesome, wonderful bartenders, excellent full pay progressives on the VP. I hit numerous 4oaK including aces and 3s on the bonus poker, took a few hundred out in just about an hour and a half.
I played quite a bit there and at the 4Queens to ensure my fall offers. Since this was a family trip I was only downtown for about 6 hours. But hopefully it will stay a lot like it looks now. It was certainly cleaner and less smokey than the last few times I was down there.

    8-5 bonus

Here is what Bob Dancer calculates 8-5 Bonus with only 1 on two pair.

Saturday night there was not a single seat open at the Long bar. I counted 6 people behind the bar running to keep up. People will play anything I guess.

I was just there two weeks ago - and I don't really remember the type of music they were playing - just that, downstairs - it's loud. And anywhere within 50 feet of the entrance - it was uncomfortably warm. And did I remember to say...LOUD???

Are they using the old Fitz chips or do they have new ones?

I was there last week. Other than the long bar, the place is unchanged. All the fitz signage remains, all the chips are fitz, even the big sign on the fremont says "fitzgeralds" like it always has.

Was wondering if anyone knew if Eric and Rodney are still bartending there now that it's the D? Those guys are always fun to hang out with at the bar.

Actually, this is the 10-5 Bonus Poker. Generally, when a casino drops to even money on the two pair, they bump up the full house. this works for them because so many people simply judge a game by the FH and Flush pays. So they see 10/5 and think they have discovered a wonderful game.
I have seen reports of that 10=5 schedule from some visitors. It may be there is more than one schedule at the bar. However, this is the third report of paytable with no compensation for the reduction of the two pair payment. In that case the ER is 86%. Totally unplayable. Worse than slots considering many pay higher and to get 86% players have to play perfectly which is highly unlikely. Almost all table games would beat these VP machines.

However, if they can fill all the seats, why not? Someone has to pay the light bills. Hopefully, upstairs will still be for gamblers rather than the "it's only money" crowd.

Yeah too bad. Like the Spring Lambs to the slaughter boy don't they go!

Looks like they're moving towards turning Downtown into Strip # 2.

    Say it ain't so!!!! :grrr:

Good to hear the Vue Bar is still on. Don't tell anyone, I thinks the Casino Bosses read these posts. Don't give em any Ideas!

Has anyone tried using the ACG coupons since the change to the D? Thanks.

I asked on their facebook page if they would honor the Fitz coupon for the hotel rates and they said yes. I bet they will accept all the Fitz coupons.

You aren't kidding! I got fleeced for $200 at the .50cent level final four weekend. VP play here was brutual. Fortunately I was able to squeeze a couple hundred off them on some other slots prior to the VP beatdown at Long Bar.

On the positive side. A month after visiting they already sent me an offer for 3 free nights and 30 bucks in free play.

Do they still have the $1 drafts at the Vue? Or a decent happy hour there?

    Thanks!

I walked through D a couple days ago and won't be doing so again. While I don't expect peace, quiet, and tranquility, and very much appreciate a "lively" casino, the noise level there exceded my threshold of pain! Scratch another "improved" casino off my list.

    Sent from Suncoast.

Funny, I have heard this from a couple of friends. They are friends that normally like good loud music. They both said they would not be returning because of it. I didnt notice it when I was there, but I was alone, and tend to not notice music unless it is really loud rap or hip hop.

Once they install the escalators outside skipping the party casino downstairs shouldn't be an issue.

    But yeah, downstairs is loud.

That is the one beef I have with Golden Gate too, the music being too loud. I appreciate trying to generate that party atmosphere, but they go too far. So I guess they are taking that philosophy to D too (,R2? lol)
