Las Vegas Strip Hotel Question

If you could stay at any strip hotel with a budget of $200 per night which hotel would you stay at and why? Thanks in advance. I'm planning a trip for my 50th birthday in early October; I will be going solo and I really want to stay at a nice place where the staff is courteous and values my business.

 

The rates are so up and down, I have stayed in the Augustus tower of CP for less that $200 a night by booking early and finding a deal. I would say mid strip, CP, Bellagio, Paris, something along those lines should be a good fit for you.

 

As captainron said, rates can fluctuate quite a bit depending on whether your dates are weekends or weekdays and whether or not there is a big event going on during those dates.

That said, if you can get Wynn or Encore for that money (which you often can, especially weekdays), that would be my choice. With the exception of Cosmo, I’ve tried all the top casino/hotels and haven’t found anything that is even in the same ballpark as those two. Rooms/restaurants/property – all fantastic. And the staff – both hotel and casino – is far and away the best that I’ve come across. They take care of you very well. But at the same time, it isn’t stuffy or pretentious, just friendly and helpful.

If the Wynn/Encore are out of your budget for the dates you want, I would try Aria or Bellagio. Both are very good. But as mentioned, not in the same league as Wynn/Encore, IMO. But, if Wynn/Encore are too high, then the odds are good that Bellagio/Aria are also.

So, I would then take a look at Mirage. The rooms are nice, if a bit small. They have some good restaurants and bars (and LOVE is probably the only Vegas show that I’d pay to see a second time) and the casino is decent. The service is not going to be nearly as good as any of the others I’ve mentioned. But, I’ve always had fairly good experiences there.

If Mirage is still too high, take a look at T.I. The property is a few steps down in quality from any of the others mentioned above. But the rooms are decent (for the price, excellent, IMO) and the staff is about as friendly as any as I’ve come across. They have definitely made me feel like they appreciated my business.

Obviously, YMMV. But, these are probably my favorite places for the money.

 

$200 a night on a mon-tues-wed week with no major thing in town could get you something great while that same 200$ could not even get you PH or Paris if its a big weekend.

 

You need to pull up CET rate calendar, as well as a few other hotels to see how rates swing. I have seen rates in mid tier go from $79 to $429 in a single month.

I think you can stay nearly anywhere for $200.

I'd go with a City Corner (or executive corner) Suite at Vdara! That's been my best experience so far, the room is FANTASTIC, the view is amazing, it's even nice to have the washer/dryer and the little kitchen. The staff and the valet is great, and they remember you, because it's a more quaint atmosphere. Worked great for me and how me and my family do Vegas.

If you want something with a casino and entertainment hmm. Maybe Venetian or Palazzo (if it's under $200 when you are going).

If I was doing that trip I'd pick Aria because I want to stay there but it's always a little out of my budget.

 

I would pick a couple hotels, sign up for their email and text specials, FB updates, watch for a deal that fits your needs. For October, the promotions will probably be best in August-September. Once you make a reservation you can always get the better deal if you see one.

 

A city corner suite @ Vdara is pretty darn nice, and appears to be going for $199/night for mid week in September. Having the extra living room space, good cable TV, kitchen, and laundry are all "nice to have" for a longer Vegas visit.

I think your hotel choice really should be driven by where you're planning to eat, gamble, etc. If the answer is "south strip", the maybe look at mgm or mandalay. If the answer is "north central," then maybe wynn, palazzo, etc. Vdara, Bellagio, Caesars, etc are all great choices for center strip.

 

The answer: it depends.

Do you have specific travel dates? Does it have to be over a weekend?

A whole lot of very nice rooms and some suites at lesser properties can fall into that price range on non premium nights. But if its a Friday or Saturday, and/or a convention/fight/holiday/event is on, all of a sudden the options narrow significantly.
