I am going on my first trip to Vegas with my gf next week. We are staying at the aria for 4 days. Where I am from there are only Indian casinos around here and the slots are bad, as in you very rarely ever win. We can go through 400 on penny slots in an hour a lot of the times (80 cents to 2 dollars a spin).. Are they better in Vegas I'm hoping? I play poker and bl mostly but play slots with the gf. Also as far as free drinks everyone says you get, can I order Bacardi and coke and not a cheap rum and coke? Just need to tip a couple bucks? Thanks all
You'll have a great trip, I'm sure! Where I live, only tribal casinos exist. I can't go to them anymore because Vegas has spoiled me so much. It's completely anecdotal, of course, but I've always fared better on slots in Vegas versus my local casinos. You should be able to get Bacardi and coke, I suspect, but be sure to top the cocktail waitress at least $1 per drink. Have fun.
As has been discussed in another thread, some casinos seem to be cutting back on the quality of liquor that they’ll serve to low limit players (at least without an upcharge). I don’t know whether Bacardi is a brand that they would charge you for or not. But, it does seem to only be a few places doing this charge, so I think you’ll be fine. Just tell the waitress what you want. Odds are you’ll get it. If not, she’ll tell you (a) we don’t carry that brand, (b) we don’t comp that brand (c) only $X/hand (spin) players get that brand comp’d or (d) there’s a charge for that brand. Though, a good tip can go a long way towards getting her to relax the rules. You’re set on the tipping. I think that the consensus is that a buck a drink (so, two if you’re getting a drink and a water – that water takes up just as much tray space as the cocktail) is sufficient. Maybe a few bucks if you’re being specific about what brand you want (especially if it is a really pricey brand). If you want constant attention, five+ bucks will get her coming around every few minutes to check up on you. Adjust these figures upward if you’re playing high limit games ($100+/hand, $5+/spin). I’m not a big slot player and I’ve never been to an Indian casino, so I can’t answer that part of the question. Gun to my head: I’d GUESS that Vegas slots are a bit looser. Best of luck. I'm a great believer of Play where you Stay but others suggest spreading your action around. As first timers remember to stay hydrated and allow time to walk and gawk. Boulder Strip has the best slot returns, Downtown the next best, the Strip the worst but I'm sure that the strip beats any Indian casino hands down. Best denomination slots is usually the one dollar or five dollar slots but check. Sign up for players club cards wherever you go, charge as much as you can to your room. >far as free drinks ... specifying Bacardi shouldn't be a problem. Best to order a high grade of booze and usually waitress will be able to bring it. If she can't get a specific brand she will usually tell you right away and ask what your second choice is. Its usually one dollar a drink.
HL tips In the HL section, generally the norm is $5 (or more) tip per drink. And yes, you'll never wanna visit an Indian casino once you've been to Vegas.
At most of the high end places I would guess that a request for Bacardi and Coke will get you Bacardi (and it is a guess: I don't drink rum). If not, the waitress is likely to say something.
I've stayed at the Aria several times and you can get pretty much any drink while playing. Even a nice glass of champagne with a strawberry on the rim if you like. Pick your wine type, not just red or white. Several whiskey or scotch choices. Paying extra for premium liquer is a CET property thing, not MGM. Their 24 hour coffee house has good food. If you go to their buffet on a Friday through Sunday you get a lobster and free wine with dinner. Easy to get to MC or Bellagio and Cosmo is a quick walk as well. Rooms are nice but can be quite a hike from the elevator. Have a great trip!
absolutely. aria is so fantastic about bringing you almost anything. i can get sapphire or tanqueray as "well" gin with no problem. bacardi will certainly not be an issue.
