Stayed at Aria mid April. Was really looking forward to it, having gambled at the hotel before. Great craps pit, including the fire bet. (I know this is a mugs bet, but it is fun!) Lots of new slots. Clean. Nice comped room. Drinks to die for. And love the cafe.

However, we had to leaveafter 1 night of a 7 night trip as th noise from the pool party was unbearable. Now we enjoy a vegas club as much as anyone, but in the afternoon like to have a couple of hours of relative peace by the pool.

At any part of the pool complex, the heavy drum and base was competing with the usual poolside musak. Horrible. We asked the pool host and they said it was always like that and we were the only ones EVER to complain. Find that really hard to believe. Anyone else had the same problem?

I spoke to my host (am mlife noir) and he didnt seem very interested.

So we left for the bellagio, who are happily enjoying the $15k or so we donated to their coffers. The rest of the trip as amazing and the bellagio pool fabulously calm.

This is my first post. Just wondering if I am old before my time, or if others would have done the same?

Haven't had that problem at Aria but had the same thing happen at PH. We intended to go to the pool one day and the noise was unbearable. You couldn't get away from it. We talked to a casino manager and she basically said that, if we don't like it, we should go somewhere else which we did. I can't stand that noise but know that it's part of the LV scene but this was just over the top.

Was it the Aria or Cosmopolitan pool giving you problems? I changed rooms at Aria because my wife didn't like the bass pumping from the Cosmo pool party.

That’s too bad. I was a Bellagio two weekends ago – sounds like it is a good thing I didn’t do Aria.

I had big issues with Wynncore last year this time. The pool partiers pretty much took over the place during the afternoons. I was careful to pick my hotel accordingly this year – glad I did.

Hopefully, there will remain a few places that resist the cash cow that is the pool party scene. But I worry that may not be the case and I might have to cross all the summer months off my list for potential Vegas trips.

Yes. I hope so too. The noise was from the aria pool party. We did also hear the cosmo at night but not so loud as it was a problem.

Ps my new fave place to eat is noodles at the B. great for those 1am cravings.

I shouldn't have read this post. Now you've got me wondering about the "quiet" pool at Bally's. Is it quiet or will I be bothered by the assorted nonsense from the pool party?

Hmm, seems like I'm one of the few on this board who likes the pool party scene (I'm sure being in my 20's has something to do with it).

Bottom line: young pool party people drink and drink some more, which means big dollars for hotels compared to the (often older) pool loungers. It doesn't seem unusual from what I've seen for people my age, particularly guys, to go through hundreds of dollars at these pool parties all day. They're in the sun so they stay hot and thirsty, the pumping music makes it fun (for us, anyways) and gives the dance club feel while you get to splash around and see hot girls in bikinis, then guys start buying girls drinks, racking up the bill even more.

As a previous poster said, it's a big cash cow for the hotels, especially compared to the normal pool lounger who might have a drink and a bottle of water throughout their many hours hangin around and cooling off.

We old folks are willing to buy drinks at the pool. We just realize how big the markup is on those drinks and some of us are interested in helping the casino realize the couple hundred percent profit they are after.

That would be the Liquid Pool at Aria. I never had a problem with the pool noise at Aria, and when I have a Strip view there I try to ask for a room in the center of the hotel away from the Cosmopolitan Marquee club.

I would recommend packing some good decibel-blocking earplugs to anyone as part of any travel kit. They have come in handy for me on many occasions because no matter what quality hotel you find yourself in, you might be next to inconsiderate neighbors, loud drunken fools carrying on in the hallways at all hours of the night, and now pool parties blasting at all hours of the night.

I just came back from an eight day stay at The Cosmo and from my balcony overlooking the Bellagio Fountains on the 51st floor, the sounds pumping from the outdoor nightclub (Chateau) beneath the Eiffel Tower restaurant at the Paris was so unbelievably loud that I cannot imagine how anyone in that hotel or PH for that matter, gets any sleep at all from Thursday to Sunday. I mean LOUD!!! I could have sung along with the music if I wanted to because that is how loud it was - crystal clear, and I was in the West Tower of Cosmo, which is furthest from the Strip! Unfortunately with pool parties being all the rage now, that type of complaint will continue to be a common one for many people, but as I mentioned, good quality earplugs can block most, if not all of the sound, and I would never leave home without them.

As for Noodles - I know everyone has different preferences, and for some reason there is always a line there, but it has to be the worst place I have ever eaten at in my entire life - not just in Vegas, but anywhere. This was after two chances - the food was so bad it was actually inedible (the friend I was with was given a dish that was "supposed" to be kung pao chicken but did not look - or taste - like any kung pao chicken I have ever seen). It was gamey and vile tasting - truly awful - and I would never go there again if my life depended on it....I know you raved about Noodles, but I would recommend Jasmine across the casino at Bellagio for some really fantastic chinese dishes instead. If I had a one am craving I would head straight to Cafe Bellagio instead of Noodles.

We always bring ear plugs as well. We've stayed at Aria the last two trips and this last trip we were facing the Cosmo pool... didn't have a problem with sound though.

But even if you are at a property that doesn't have a big club or pool party they are still good to bring along, I think - you never know who the guests are around you in the hotel and could easily get a 4-5AM wakeup from some dummy pounding on the door next to yours because they forgot their key and need to be let in the room.

I'm 35 and I don't have a problem with the pool parties and clubs. Although I don't partake in the festivities, I like the youthful energy the club scene brings to Vegas.

That said, I don't want my room next to a pool party or club. When I'm in my room it's usually to sleep or relax.

one of the reasons i love the B pool and the Mansion pool. nice and quiet and none of that crap to deal with. we had a cabana at the MGM pool last year and were listening to Wet Republic DJ/music/bass/etc the entire time. it didn't bother us so much that we left like you guys are saying, but it was a little annoying. quiet pools are much better.

x2. I don't always partake in the partying and clubs the whole time I'm there, but it's the energetic atmosphere it creates that I enjoy being around. I like feeling alive and young. I like knowing that I can meet and hang out with other people my age looking to have a good time, or go with friends who want to feel the same and enjoy that atmosphere. I like knowing I can stay up until 4am partying if I feel up to it, because at home you certainly can't. Vegas is a big, energetic party destination for me where I can also enjoy the other perks (gambling, national parks, sightseeing, great food, shows, etc).

If I wanted to go on a "relaxing" vacation, it certainly wouldn't be to Las Vegas. I'd go to some tropical island with a secluded beach in the Caribbean...but that's just me. :D

I agree and I am in my 30's. Staying at MGM you can get away from the pool scene since they have Wet Republic. The adult pool is pretty damn calm. I don't really hit the pool party clubs but don't mind them at all. I did go to Encore Beach club which was fun for a few hours... the sights alone were worth it. I would go back and buy a table or lily pad if I had a big group of people.

The only time the young pool scene was really an issue was during spring break at MGM. A lot of 20 somethings couldn't get into wet republic (not sure why) and the lazy river ended up looking like a MTV special. That was somewhat annoying with rows of 20 somethings sitting on every inch of the lazy river.

Other than that, it's not been an issue. Mandalay Bay has a great pool. Not very noisy and not too calm either.

Well, it is that time of year...I get the pool party noise from the RIO also.
Two years ago when they first started it, I thought it just might be some
special event down at the pool.............LOL! (sorry) Then I hoped it was
just a passing craze............LOL! (nope) It will die out some year, and be
replaced with what ever comes next but for now, I just gotta deal with it.
The bass was so strong it viberated stuff around on my table up on the
13th floor. I complained...it did nothing. I got use to taking naps with
all the room pillows over my head.
I could get a room on the other side of the property...but I like my Pool/Strip
view so........I'll just stay pissed off til Fall.

Couldn't you have stayed at Aria for your room and visited the other pools at the City Center complex? I would think that Mandarin Oriental, VDara or Veer towers have to have a pool too. My Noir card get's me in to any MGM Resort pool that I want to go to without needing a room at the hotel.

Its part of the environment. Vegas isnt a place to "relax". Like someone said, if I wanted to get some sleep, have quiet time at the pool, and not be bothered by thousands of people, I would go to a beach in the Caribbean.

To me an empty Vegas is a boring Vegas. The sights, sounds, lights, people, is what makes Vegas what it is.

Just came back this morning and I just booked a couple nights at Cosmo beginning of June a couple hours ago. LOL. Some of you maybe light sleepers, but just stay up all night, get tired, so you wont be bothered by the noise since you'll be knocked out all morning. :)

Pretty weak reason to leave a resort in a city like Vegas, IMO. You could have easily gone next door to Vdara for near silence.

Ballys did have thumping music on Friday, Sat. and Sunday at their pool but nowhere near as what we heard at the other properties throughout the strip. The problem is each property is trying to outdo the other by going well beyond the norm for comfortable levels of music. The problem is going to be where people will begin to move like the original poster and management needs to recognize the problem. Give me Ballys, Gold Coast or Orleans pool any day of the week.
